Cheney Standing Tall: With a look of strained determination, Dick
Cheney
made the TV rounds yesterday telling the GAO to meet him downtown.
He won't turn over the Enron notes and that's that.
We suppose there was this much screaming when Hillary the Unelected didn't
want to reveal information but it does seem louder now.
Check Out Time: In case you have forgotten those wounded and
desperate
Taliban fighters who had fastened themselves to their hospital beds in
Kandahar with belts of explosives - they are back in the news. After a two
months stand off, our fed-up
Special Forces brought them some room service
last night.
One Angry Woman: The suicide bomber in yet another Jaffa Street
blood bath
Sunday was slightly different from all the others.
This murderer was a woman.
We wonder if the martyr's reward of 72 virgins in heaven will apply here.
By now she should be finding out that means an eternity with a huge second
grade class.
Find Out Where This Guy Is Going: Mark Sokolow is one unlucky dude.
He
escaped the World Trade Center
bombings only to miss death again on Jaffa Street in this weekend's suicide
explosion.
God must be watching out for him
but it might be a good idea to
keep one's distance as he moves around.
The Munch Bunch: The Houston Chronicle spoke to a
Muslim chaplain who has been visiting the boys who bite being detained in
Gitmo. He says their biggest concern is what is going to happen to them.
That
seems a long, fuzzy way from worry about starvation, torture, beatings and
death threats the Red Cross seemed to think concerned the group. Have some
more Froot Loops, Omar.
It will all get sorted out.
Day Two Must Read: The excellent tick-tock on September 11th and
following
events written by Bob Woodward and Dan Balz continues in today's Washington
Post. In case you missed it due to excessive football, West Coast Editor
Amy
Sheehan has kindly provided a link to yesterday's opener. This series so
far
is
not only a keeper but a record corrector and worth printing out.
All Hands Together: Because we deeply believe in its power, we ask
the Ldot
Army to
join us in prayer for Wall Street Journal bureau chief and reporter
Dan Pearl
who has been kidnapped by yet another murderous organization in the
middle east. His pregnant wife, colleagues, family and friends are desperate
with worry this morning. E-mailed threats from his captors demand that the
"detainees" in Gitmo be kept in "better conditions." See what the INRC and
the Brit press have started? The old "take no prisoners" policy is beginning
to look better and better.
