Miami Catholic school
student wears ‘blackface’ to
celebrate Black History Month

A photo of a student who had painted his face black to impersonate an African-American figure sparked outrage among Miami Catholic school alumni after it was shared online. The photo was taken during a Black History Month celebration at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic School in Miami, the Miami Herald reported. Fourth-grade students had been asked to dress up as famous African-Americans while presenting on them. A student who chose former Secretary of State Colin Powell wore “blackface” as part his costume. (Snip) Archdiocese of Miami spokeswoman Mary Ross Agosta said the child had not meant to be offensive.

Comments:
The kids were asked to don costumes in homage of renowned Africans living in America, and thanks to the handicap of his melanin deficiency, one child is singled out for scorn and ridicule.

OUTRAGE is the knee-JERK response of those who seek any OPPORTUNITY to be offended even when no offense is intended. Such is the dysfunctionality of obsessive political correctness.

Way back when life was simpler my choral group put on Showboat. Since there were no black singers, half the company put on dark make up and sang the black songs. It was never thought of as offensive, far from it. It was a grand opportunity to sing some great music.

The kid needs to be applauded for doing something he thought was doing the right thing by putting make up on. I say give the kid an Oscar.

Black History Month, the operative word being "Black" and the assignment being to impersonate an "African-American" person one would think the first requirement would be to match the only different and distinguishing characteristic, the color of the skin. Only one student bothered to "answer the full question." Everybody else gets an "F".

We should be focusing on the real pressing issue of cultural appropriation.
We need to start with the offensive act of black people wearing pants.

General Motors Co is going ahead with its plan to manufacture the new Chevrolet Blazer SUV in Mexico, a spokesman for the automaker said, despite criticism by U.S. President Donald Trump over making vehicles abroad. Trump has been pressing automakers to build more vehicles in the United States under efforts to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). ´We remain committed to working with the administration on a modernized NAFTA,´ GM spokesman Pat Morrissey said, adding the decision was made years ago. The New York Police Department is violating public records law by keeping President Trump´s gun permit application under wraps, a new lawsuit charges. Internet news company The Daily Dot filed suit in Manhattan Supreme Court late Thursday over the NYPD´s alleged refusal to release docs relating to Donald Trump´s gun license application, which were requested under the Freedom of Information Law in January. The Daily Dot also requested documents on pistol applications related to Eric and Donald Trump Jr. According to the suit, NYPD officials refused, claiming in their denial letter that "in addition to constituting an unwarranted invasion of

Another Black Liberation Army cop killer is getting parole — Robert Hayes, a cold-blooded thug who killed a transit cop in a senseless subway platform shootout in 1973, then turned a sawed-off shotgun on the five cops who later busted into his hideout. Transit patrolman and father of two Sidney Thompson, 37, lost his life for merely trying to arrest the then-23-year-old Hayes and a second BLA member for jumping a turnstile. Sentenced to 35-to-life in 1974 — before state law mandated life without parole for cop killers — Hayes will get out as early as July 24, The Post has learned.

Gangbangers peddle drugs in plain sight, hustlers resell cheap booze on the street corner — 50 cents will get you a capful — and prostitutes lead johns to the boarded-up husk of what used to be a Taco Bell. This is Tompkinsville Park on Staten Island’s North Shore in 2018 and, to area residents and merchants caught in its heroin and K2-infested vortex, this is a battlefield. “Every day you see muggings, prostitutes, people smoking crack and shooting up heroin,” said Xhafer Gjeshbitraj, 52, who owns a building across the street from the tiny, triangular park bounded by Bay Street

Starbucks may have appeased progressives with its social-justice workshops and open-bathroom policy, but such moves have failed to caffeinate the company’s bottom line. The coffee giant’s stock took a tumble Wednesday after CEO Kevin Johnson announced that Starbucks would close 150 company-owned stores next year instead of the expected 50, with an emphasis on underperforming shops in densely populated urban areas, and lowered growth projections. Women will soon be getting their place among the city’s overwhelmingly male statues and monuments. Officials launched a push Wednesday to put up a monument marking women’s contributions to the city — and are asking the public to nominate women they’d like to see honored. “This is the day we finally start putting women where they belong — on pedestals,” said deputy mayor Alicia Glen, who joined Mayor de Blasio’s wife, Chirlane McCray, to make the announcement at Bryant Park — a rare spot that already has two monuments to women. The city has committed to commission and pay for

Three U.S. airlines said Wednesday they don’t want the government to use them to assist in some parts of immigration enforcement, in the latest protest to the family separation situation on the border. American, United and Frontier airlines, which have contracts with Homeland Security to fly people in immigration detention, said they have no idea if they are being used for the purpose — but lodged their objections anyway. “We have no desire to be associated with separating families, or worse, to profit from it. We have every expectation the government will comply with our request, and we thank them

Judicial Watch today released newly obtained internal IRS documents, including material revealing that Sen. John McCain’s former staff director and chief counsel on the Senate Homeland Security Permanent Subcommittee, Henry Kerner, urged top IRS officials, including then-director of exempt organizations Lois Lerner, to “audit so many that it becomes financially ruinous.” Kerner was appointed by President Trump as Special Counsel for the United States Office of Special Counsel. The explosive exchange was contained in notes taken by IRS employees at an April 30, 2013, meeting between Kerner, Lerner, and other high-ranking IRS officials. Just ten days following the meeting, former

Does someone from the Trump family, the Trump Cabinet, or even the Trump administration have to be assaulted or worse, killed, before we accept the fact that a growing number from the far-left have put a rhetorical bounty on their heads. If has-been actor Peter Fonda suggesting Barron Trump be "ripped from his mother´s arms and put in a cage with pedophiles" does not horrify you with the obscene brutality of its message, nothing ever will. From this cauldron of bubbling and putrid hate filled from the twisted minds of enraged liberal politicians, "journalists," entertainers, and academics, spews forth the dangerously

The Minnesota Vikings made history on Thursday. Vikings players, coaches and members of the LGBTQ community came together for a first of its kind inclusion summit held by an NFL team. The LGBTQ summit and fundraising event was held at the TCO Performance Center Auditorium in Eagan. It centered around bridging the gap between the LGBTQ community and sports. Taxes: Whatever you think about the issue of taxing internet sales, the simple fact is that the Supreme Court has just guaranteed that people across the country will now be paying more in state taxes. It´s hard for us to see how this is good news. In its 5-4 decision on South Dakota v. Wayfair, the court overturned two previous rulings that prevented states from taxing sales of out-of-state companies. That meant a catalog company based in Maine didn´t have to navigate 45 state sales-tax laws to figure out how much each customer owed, and then remit that money to the

How´s this for sneaky? Sen. John McCain, not too long after seeking conservative and Republican votes in his failed 2008 bid for the presidency, went right after those same conservative voters without telling them, by egging on the IRS to ruin them. It´s the sort of political back-stabbing that defies belief, taking an active role in destroying the Tea Party, which was an authentic grassroots movement of local groups calling for smaller government. But sure enough, Judicial Watch has found McCain´s central role right there in the documents: Judicial Watch today released newly obtained internal IRS documents, including material revealing that Sen.
