Democratic Blue Wave Surged
But Did Not Look Like a Tsunami

Texas Monthly Magazine, by R. G. Ratcliffe

That big Blue Wave that is supposed to carry Democrats to victory in the fall general election may be building, but on Tuesday it looked far more like a wave pool than a tsunami. With candidates in almost all congressional races and in most parts of Texas this year, the Democrats certainly showed enthusiasm, driving more voters to the polls than in any non-presidential year primary since 2002. Their early vote numbers outpaced the Republicans and surpassed their own primary early vote in the presidential contest of 2016. All told, the Democrats had more than a million people vote in their

Comments:
The Democrat Primary in my precinct was so empty the poll workers were talking to themselves. On the Republican side of the room, there was a line.

Democrat controlled fake news believes that wishful thinking might affect reality. How did that work out in the last Presidential election?

I got a big chuckle reading a headline in the Austin Anti-American Statesperson about how Demo primary turnout was so much higher. As you read the article, they only looked at the 15 largest urban counties. Statewide the numbers were even.

I don´t see much more than a modest ripple on a small country stream for Democrats in Texas. But they keep telling us that it´s just around the corner.

A timely "refresher":

Voters ignored the media in 2016, and Donald Trump won election fair and square.

Voters in Texas ignored the media yesterday, and averted electoral disaster.

Whatever our lying media tries to sell us:

just ignore it.

POP! The sound of the pathetically over hyped Dem bubble bursting in Texas.

Add all three Texas Dem Senate candidates´ votes together and get 78% of what Ted Cruz got just by himself, with four other Repubs drawing a bit from Cruz. Cruz will pick up a good bit of those other Repub votes, so it should be more like about 65% in the real election, if Cruz picks up zero Dems. Not sure he won´t get some Dem votes, too.

Dems make huge claims, but the reality is folks are energized by the President and real conservative principles in action, as opposed to the last guy from Texas and his "compassionate conservativism", which turned out to look almost exactly like liberalism to me, and apparently a whole lot more.

Well, the Republicans also broke a record, with 1,500,00 votes -- a solid 500,000 more than Democrats.

The "blue wave" and other crud is just liberal magical thinking. It´s interesting how many news outlets tried to push this agenda.

It´s so coordinated, I wonder if there is another "journolist" somewhere.

The lib media is looking for any hopeful sing, even a faint one that somehow Texas will turn away and vote socialist with their prodding.

They want it soooo bad they INVENT stories to say so when there is absolutely NO EVIDENCE to support what they say. Its so laughable and DISHONEST, but they keep saying it and saying it and saying it hoping the weak-minded will believe it and question the FACTS.

The republicans set a new record for turn out in a primary election--see that reported anywhere? hmmmm?

The FACT IS that Senator Ted Cruz got more votes in a five way primary race than were cast in the ENTIRE demonrat socialist primary race.

So much propping up for Beto. So much hope for him who is an open borders take away the 2nd amendment guy, but the numbers just were not even close.

There is no ´blue wave´. That might happen down the road as people move in from California or illegals get to vote from the public trough, but not for a while at least!

One night in the spring of 2007, when I was thirteen, my little brother and I cupped our hands to our upstairs hallway window, looked through the cigar smoke in our backyard, and tried to find Steve Miller. There was a grown-up party swirling around outside, but we couldn’t figure out which adult was the celebrity guest. We’d learned every Steve Miller Band classic rock hit from 93.3 The Bone, but we had no idea what the guy looked like. The albums we owned either had a painting of Pegasus or a man in a Joker mask on the cover,

Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s 500-page report covers plenty, but it can be distilled to two words he uses to describe the Federal Bureau of Investigation during the 2016 election: insubordination and bias. Two terms that are chilling in connection with such a powerful agency. That won’t be the message from Democrats and most of the press, who will focus on a few episodes they will claim cost Hillary Clinton an election. Watch for them to blame former FBI Director James Comey, whom the report faults for “a serious error of judgment,” for having “concealed information” from superiors, and for “violation of or

A key FBI investigator in the probes into Russian election meddling and Hillary Clinton’s email server wrote to his bureau colleague and lover that “we’ll stop” Donald Trump from becoming president. Inspector General Michael Horowitz on Thursday revealed the text message exchange between the agent, Peter Strzok, and FBI lawyer Lisa Page, in his report on the FBI’s and Justice Department’s probe into the bureau’s handling of the probe into Clinton’s emails, the Washington Post reported. “[Trump’s] not ever going to become president, right? Right?!” the lawyer, Lisa Page, wrote to Strzok. “No. No he won’t.

Rod Rosenstein, cult hero

More than any federal agency or department I’ve worked for, with, or against, the Justice Department resembles a cult. Its employees think they are special. They feel intense hostility towards the Department’s adversaries. They are fiercely loyal to the Department and compulsively committed to its ways of doing things. Outsiders are viewed with condescension and suspicion, if not contempt. Obviously, many DOJ employees do not buy fully into the cult, but many do. Those who rise to the top tend to embrace it the most. This brings us to Rod Rosenstein, a career DOJ attorney who joined the department in 1990.

Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz faults then-FBI Director James Comey for being “insubordinate” and other FBI agents for sending anti-Trump text messages in his long-awaited review of the FBI and DOJ’s Hillary Clinton investigation during the 2016 presidential election. For more than a year, Horowitz has been reviewing the agencies’ actions related to its investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server while she was secretary of state. The report was released Thursday afternoon. Horowitz’s investigation looked at a variety of allegations, including whether it was improper for Comey to make a

Disruption Isn’t Enough

Donald Trump has proved in 18 months that he can disrupt the global status quo, for better (Iran) and worse (trade). The question as he brawls with his G-7 allies after their annual summit and now meets with adversary Kim Jong Un is whether the President knows that disruption isn’t enough. Sooner or later he has to contribute to a better world order instead of merely blowing up the old one. Unlike most of the U.S.-Europe foreign-policy elite, we think the world needed some shaking up. Barack Obama saw America as an overstretched power that needed restraining for the world’s

The lieutenant had left the Jeep running, and Macklin jumped behind the wheel. The lieutenant ran in front of the Jeep and shouted, “Get out,” according to a police report. When Macklin began pulling away, the lieutenant drew his gun and fired through the open driver’s side window, hitting the teen in the chest. Former first lady Laura Bush tore into the Trump administration for separating migrant families at the border, calling the “zero tolerance” policy “cruel” and “immoral.” Bush penned an op-ed for the Washington Post, which was published Sunday night as public outcry over the hundreds of children in detention centers intensified. “I live in a border state,” Bush wrote. “I appreciate the need to enforce and protect our international boundaries, but this zero-tolerance policy is cruel. It is immoral. And it breaks my heart.” Bush’s commentary comes as more images and accounts from inside the detention centers have

The state of Illinois has approved $224 million to pay for street and transportation projects in Chicago´s South Side neighborhood around the Obama Presidential Center site, $199 million of which will fall directly on the shoulders of Illinois taxpayers. Gov. Bruce Rauner signed into law the legislature´s budget on June 4, which included $174 million for road work in and around Jackson Park — where the 235-foot-tall building would be located — and another $50 million to renovate an above-ground rail stop two miles away. “Bringing the Obama Presidential Center to Chicago took leadership and vision, and we are gratified that our

You wonder why Fox News is Number One in cable? It´s because CNN, MSNBC, NBC and the rest are so relentlessly negative about Donald Trump they force people to watch Fox to find out the truth about the growing economy or the historically low unemployment rates for blacks. Take this week´s Singapore Summit. No matter what President Trump accomplished in Singapore in his face-to-face meeting with North Korea´s Kim Jong Un, for Joe, Mika and their fellow foreign policy experts in the media, it was not enough. Or it was too much. Or Trump was naive or stupid. Or he gave away too much. Or he didn't ask "Little Rocket Man"

Christian leaders across the country have taken issue with Attorney General Jeff Session´s usage of the Bible as justification of his policy that is separating thousand of immigrant families at the border. Sessions cited Romans 13 to attempt to justify how separating families was ordained by God because ´orderly and lawful processes are good in themselves and protect the weak and lawful.´ For religious leaders who still weren´t pleased with his usage of scripture, he offered them to ´speak up strongly to urge anyone who would come here to apply lawfully, to wait their turn and not violate the law.´

Just in time for Father´s Day, CNN brings you the story of a biological female who refers to herself as a transgender man who, after taking testosterone to "transition," conceived a child with a man who was "transitioning" into a transgender woman but stopped taking hormones long enough that they could conceive a son.
