Hogging the Gun Control Limelight
Taki´s Magazine, by David Cole

I am so sick of David Hogg, the pompadorable Parkland school shooting “survivor” and media-darling gun control activist. And I feel an intense need to publicly say just how sick I am of this kid, because, apparently, criticism of David Hogg has been added to the left’s ever-expanding list of “hate speech.” Seriously, I haven’t seen such a wall of protection around a teenager since that bubble boy from the ’70s. My problem with Hogg isn’t even about guns per se. I’m totally a Second Amendment advocate, but it’s never been my go-to issue. During my days as a GOP

David Hogg, who resembles a cartoon character, was far too obvious from the beginning. The best thing that could happen would be for all of us to stop talking about him and the other young bought-and-paid-for SJWs.

Yes David there´s much more concern that guns. Human history consists of multiple cycles of rise and fall. We tend to be taught that the dark ages were a unique interruption in a continuum of progress in civilization but it was just one of many cycles of decline preceding the emergence of the next rise. Wealth and comfort have a way of undermining the values of character, self-sacrifice, discipline and hard work required to build the wealth and comfort.
The cycle of the rise of the Western world from the Magna Carta to the age of enlightenment to the age of revolution culminating in the dominance of a constitutional representative republic has achieved unprecedented comfort and wealth even for those not living in the US through our benevolence.

Without a clue of how that all worked, how previous cycles of prosperity were destroyed by abandoning the values that created it, Mr. Hogg and his fellow progressive teenagers and millennials know better and have the answers to mankind’s quest for knowledge.

They see obvious things that are of concern and think they can make them go away without crushing consequences, without consulting the lessons of human civilization. It’s as ignorant as presuming Newton’s third law no longer applies.

The latest "sacred cow du jour"
Give this plastic person a bit more rope and they´ll believe their own "B.S."
YES I´m quite tired of him also. I am also willing to let him implode when his 15 minutes are up.
The next "thing" will happen and he´ll become yesterday news. Then we´ll see him scrambling to hang on to the moving spotlight of "fame". THAT´s when his true colors will show through.

I would recommend that Master Hogg familiarize himself with the story of Cindy Sheehan. She was once a media darling as well. But when her/his usefulness is gone the "news" folks will forget all about you.

Enjoy your 15 minutes. I know I am not.

Why nobody asks people like Hogg (and all the others on the Left), just exactly, where do they want America to go politically, the end zone, is beyond me. What form of government are they trying to achieve?

Instead, they keep playing the victim card and the media keeps asking stupid questions that gives them more air time to sell their views, propaganda and vitriol.

These people usually believe in no God and they certainly do not believe in God´s values. If there is no God, then my views are just a valid as theirs. So all they need to do, is be more vile and aggressive than good people, to their way.

But in the end, the place they want to take America is a very dark place, somewhere between socialism and tyranny, something they probably don´t think much about.

Wisdom is not only graceful, it is grace. I´m with #7 concerning #2. Beautiful. A pleasure to read and contemplate.

Most teens are too busy with family, school, recreation, and the opposite sex to get politically active. Speaking for myself, I would take an interest in radical leftist philosophy only after getting college--still have some of the important leftist books in my library--but soon got over it. It wouldn´t stand up to examination and to the lessons of life´s experience. Significantly, WFB (who left us ten years ago this past February 27: RIP, sir) made sense to me, so I went with him.

There is something very wrong with this picture and hope to be proven wrong. I think the kid provoked Cruz into the shooting that day, prepared himself to record other students in hopes of being recognized around the world as a reporter and hero of gun control. I would be as afraid of Hogg as Cruz. There is something premeditated about his story.

The lack of empathy in this generation is scary.

I think young Mr. Hawg shows signs of being able to shift his leverage into the LGBT or whatever-it´s called-at-this-moment movement once his anti-2nd Amendment gas runs out. He looks a shade "non-standard" in the sexuality department and now he´s had a lot of media training. Just sayin´

Land O´Lakes teen recovering after

A Land O’ Lakes teen is recovering after being infected by something you may not expect: a caterpillar. A day of doing volunteer yard work on June 16 turned ugly when Logan Pergola’s arm brushed by an oak tree. “It just hurt like a small scratch," Logan told us. "Then all of the sudden, my arm went numb and I felt a burning pain." He looked down and saw a unlikely culprit: a small, furry caterpillar, later identified as a southern flannel moth. It’s also commonly called a puss caterpillar. His arm had simply brushed it when the venom went into

Tania Lavin is (or was, at last word) a fact-checker for the New Yorker. She achieved overnight Twitter-fame by accusing an ICE agent of being a white supremacist. The New York Post has the story: "A Harvard-educated fact-checker for the New Yorker is being excoriated by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency for “baselessly slandering” a Marine veteran — by falsely accusing him of having a Nazi tattoo, according to reports. (Snip) An obvious question is, what on God’s green Earth would cause anyone to think that the vaguely cross-like symbol on Gaertner’s elbow is a Nazi or white supremacist sign?

Every time you hear some young hip woke leftist at a technology company like Facebook telling you he needs to protect you from fake news, remember that what he´s saying is that you´re a knuckle-dragging Neanderthal who is too stupid to figure out that it´s okay for good people like Hillary to break the law. In fact, he´s saying the majority of Americans are too intellectually challenged to discriminate between fact and fiction. Historically, "common" folk were able to figure out that the National Enquirer´s stories about two-headed alien Elvis clones are fake and even that professional wrestling is staged.

It has been said a nation can have either welfare or open borders -- but not both -- in the same way one can have a cool air-conditioned room in a blazing desert or an open door -- but not both. It is the inequality between the outside and inside temperatures that the door is intended to preserve. The problem of keeping the room cool while leaving the door open is now consuming Angela Merekel´s European Union as the refugee problem grows in political size. Can the EU have no internal borders if it lacks an external one? If there´s no

TAMPA — Loueita Hargens had known for years how her son Bradley Dykes would die. She had seen him cycle through drugs of choice, had lost track of the number of times he’d wound up in the hospital or prison. A recovering alcoholic herself, she cut him off several years ago. "If you want to talk, you can find me at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting," the mother told her son. It finally happened in November: Dykes fatally overdosed on the synthetic opioid fentanyl. He was 46. Hargens was grief stricken but not shocked, and months later, another emotion has joined the mix. She hopes the federal prosecution of her

A massive python killed a woman in Indonesia, the second time in just over a year one of the giant constrictors swallowed a human in adjacent provinces in that country. The woman, 54-year-old Wa Tiba, went missing while checking her vegetable garden near her village on Muna island in Southeast Sulawesi province on Thursday evening, said the chief of the village of Persiapan Lawela, Faris, who uses a single name. Wa Tiba was concerned about wild boars getting into her corn, planted about a half-mile from her house. When she hadn’t returned by sunrise Friday, her sister went to look for her. She found only Tiba’s footprints,

Dustin Johnson had pushed the lead all the way to 4-under par heading into the weekend, but as we head into Sunday´s final round, he´s in a four-way tie atop the leaderboard after going 7 over. The cut was at 8-over par, but after a day where the average score was between 75-76, 8-over par is now good enough for T-16 on the leaderboard. This course was a fickle beast all day with many golfers criticizing the way it is playing even compared

It lived an uneventful life in Earth´s oceans 500 million years ago, but now this newly discovered creature has an unusual honor: It´s been given the scientific name Obamus coronatus, a name that honors President Barack Obama´s passion for science. (Coronatus means "crowned.") The tiny, disc-shaped animal was about a 1/2 inch long, with raised spiral grooves on its surface. It spent its entire life embedded on the ocean floor, likely never moving, according to scientists from the University of California – Riverside. A second small animal, an egg-shaped critter that may have looked like a raisin, was also discovered.

Michelle Obama joined her fellow former first lady Laura Bush Monday in criticizing the hard-line Trump administration immigration policy that has led to families being separated at the border. Bush, the wife of former President George W. Bush, penned a tweet over the weekend in which she echoed the widespread condemnation of the new directive from Attorney General Jeff Sessions. “I live in a border state,” Bush said. “I appreciate the need to enforce and protect our international boundaries, but this zero-tolerance policy is cruel. It is immoral. And it breaks my heart.” Quoting that tweet, Obama wrote that “sometimes truth transcends

Hillary Clinton weighed in Monday morning on the ongoing controversy regarding the Trump administration’s "no-tolerance” border policy, suggesting that Jesus would not condone the actions of the American border authorities. At an awards lunch for the Women’s Forum of New York, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee called out “those who selectively use the Bible” to give grounds for the separations, which were reported by the Department of Justice on Friday. “I went to a lot of years of Sunday school — even taught it from time to time. Romney, the 2012 GOP presidential nominee, declined to blame President Trump or the Department of Homeland Security specifically in remarks to a group of voters at a park here. He called images of children separated from their parents “pretty disturbing” and “heartbreaking.” “I think immediately we should go back to the setting where we’re not ripping children away from their parents, and then we expect Congress to take

LANSING — The unprecedented outpouring of activism from students after the shooting at Marjorie Douglas Stoneman High School in Parkland, Fla., in February is the genesis for a bill introduced in the Legislature last week that would change the voting age in Michigan to 16. Michelle Obama traded workout clothes for a chic suit as she went out to lunch in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The former first lady looked perfectly chic for her business lunch as she dined at the Gjelina restaurant in Venice. Michelle swapped out her usual jewel tones with a softer palate of pastels for the meeting. She opted for light green wide-leg trousers and a suit jacket done in matching green and black stripes, topping the look off with a simple white shirt and sandals. Illegal Immigration: The latest outrage by the Trump administration is its policy of "ripping" children away from parents who´ve crossed the border illegally. As with so many other things involving Trump, there´s plenty of emotion but precious little in the way of facts. The furor reached critical mass after the Department of Homeland Security said on Friday that 1,995 children had been separated from their illegal border crossing parents from mid-April through May. That number included, DHS said, cases where the adults were arrested for illegal entry, immigration violations, or possible criminal conduct. The practice has generated a rising storm of protests,
