Hogging the Gun Control Limelight

I am so sick of David Hogg, the pompadorable Parkland school shooting “survivor” and media-darling gun control activist. And I feel an intense need to publicly say just how sick I am of this kid, because, apparently, criticism of David Hogg has been added to the left’s ever-expanding list of “hate speech.” Seriously, I haven’t seen such a wall of protection around a teenager since that bubble boy from the ’70s. My problem with Hogg isn’t even about guns per se. I’m totally a Second Amendment advocate, but it’s never been my go-to issue. During my days as a GOP

David Hogg, who resembles a cartoon character, was far too obvious from the beginning. The best thing that could happen would be for all of us to stop talking about him and the other young bought-and-paid-for SJWs.

Yes David there´s much more concern that guns. Human history consists of multiple cycles of rise and fall. We tend to be taught that the dark ages were a unique interruption in a continuum of progress in civilization but it was just one of many cycles of decline preceding the emergence of the next rise. Wealth and comfort have a way of undermining the values of character, self-sacrifice, discipline and hard work required to build the wealth and comfort.
The cycle of the rise of the Western world from the Magna Carta to the age of enlightenment to the age of revolution culminating in the dominance of a constitutional representative republic has achieved unprecedented comfort and wealth even for those not living in the US through our benevolence.

Without a clue of how that all worked, how previous cycles of prosperity were destroyed by abandoning the values that created it, Mr. Hogg and his fellow progressive teenagers and millennials know better and have the answers to mankind’s quest for knowledge.

They see obvious things that are of concern and think they can make them go away without crushing consequences, without consulting the lessons of human civilization. It’s as ignorant as presuming Newton’s third law no longer applies.

The latest "sacred cow du jour"
Give this plastic person a bit more rope and they´ll believe their own "B.S."
YES I´m quite tired of him also. I am also willing to let him implode when his 15 minutes are up.
The next "thing" will happen and he´ll become yesterday news. Then we´ll see him scrambling to hang on to the moving spotlight of "fame". THAT´s when his true colors will show through.

I would recommend that Master Hogg familiarize himself with the story of Cindy Sheehan. She was once a media darling as well. But when her/his usefulness is gone the "news" folks will forget all about you.

Enjoy your 15 minutes. I know I am not.

Why nobody asks people like Hogg (and all the others on the Left), just exactly, where do they want America to go politically, the end zone, is beyond me. What form of government are they trying to achieve?

Instead, they keep playing the victim card and the media keeps asking stupid questions that gives them more air time to sell their views, propaganda and vitriol.

These people usually believe in no God and they certainly do not believe in God´s values. If there is no God, then my views are just a valid as theirs. So all they need to do, is be more vile and aggressive than good people, to their way.

But in the end, the place they want to take America is a very dark place, somewhere between socialism and tyranny, something they probably don´t think much about.

Wisdom is not only graceful, it is grace. I´m with #7 concerning #2. Beautiful. A pleasure to read and contemplate.

Most teens are too busy with family, school, recreation, and the opposite sex to get politically active. Speaking for myself, I would take an interest in radical leftist philosophy only after getting college--still have some of the important leftist books in my library--but soon got over it. It wouldn´t stand up to examination and to the lessons of life´s experience. Significantly, WFB (who left us ten years ago this past February 27: RIP, sir) made sense to me, so I went with him.

There is something very wrong with this picture and hope to be proven wrong. I think the kid provoked Cruz into the shooting that day, prepared himself to record other students in hopes of being recognized around the world as a reporter and hero of gun control. I would be as afraid of Hogg as Cruz. There is something premeditated about his story.

The lack of empathy in this generation is scary.

I think young Mr. Hawg shows signs of being able to shift his leverage into the LGBT or whatever-it´s called-at-this-moment movement once his anti-2nd Amendment gas runs out. He looks a shade "non-standard" in the sexuality department and now he´s had a lot of media training. Just sayin´

Bond set at $500,000 for

A Broward County judge set a $500,000 bond Tuesday for Zachary Cruz, who was caught skateboarding Monday on the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School grounds where brother Nikolas Cruz killed 17 people in February. Prosecutors asked for $750,000. The standard bond for trespassing on school grounds is $25 and Cruz, 18, had paid it, his bond attorney said. "He’s being held because of who he’s related to, not because of what he did," Cruz’s bond attorney argued before Judge Kim Theresa Mollica. Mollica, who also handled Nikolas Cruz’s bond hearing, said Zachary Cruz’s Lake Worth home is to be searched for guns;

The Southern California teacher who called U.S. service members "the lowest of our low" in a video that triggered widespread condemnation - including blunt criticism from the White House - has been fired. The El Rancho Unified School District held a Tuesday night vote to determine the fate of Gregory Salcido, a history teacher at El Rancho High School in Pico Rivera, southeast of Los Angeles. The board’s decision, nearly two months after his comments went viral, was a unanimous: Salcido is out, said Board of Education President Aurora Villon. Salcido has been on unpaid leave since January, and Villon said he would

In the age of #MeToo and #TimesUp, the image of Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean ride’s auction of "wenches" for sale just didn’t seem so funny anymore. The theme park released an updated storyline this week at the Magic Kingdom that features a red-haired female pirate. "Just as Walt Disney embraced and encouraged Disney Parks to ‘keep moving forward’ since the opening of Disneyland Park in 1955, Walt Disney Imagineering has introduced many new characters at Pirates of the Caribbean attraction over the years," a statement on the official Disney parks blog said. The red-haired character was once a wench for sale.

You’re not going to get to vote

Floridians will not vote on adding gun control measures to the state constitution this year because a state board, citing technical rules, rejected the proposals Wednesday. The 37-member Constitution Review Commission is an obscure yet powerful body that meets every 20 years to propose changes to the Florida constitution which are then put on the November ballot. During a marathon meeting in the Capitol, several commissioners from both parties tried to add three different gun-related amendments to a proposal related to land ownership. Because the deadline to propose original ballot measures passed before the Feb. 14 Parkland massacre, some commissioners hoped to

What Qualifies as an

Former New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn labeled Cynthia Nixon an “unqualified lesbian” after the Sex and the City actress announced a primary challenge to Empire State governor Andrew Cuomo. What makes one an “unqualified lesbian”? Like sanction or cleave, “unqualified” works as its own antonym (or perhaps, to qualify a bit, its own near opposite). Did Quinn mean to call Nixon one unfit for the lesbian label or did she mean to celebrate her as a total, full-blooded lesbian? “Unqualified” strikes ears and eyes as a confusing qualifier. Nixon, on the one hand, drifted into the Sapphic passion at midlife

A couple years ago, salmon passed tuna as the most popular fish in the United States. Our doctors have told us to eat more of it; our fitness and diet regimens have put it in heavy menu rotation. The problem is not all salmon is created equal. More than 90 percent of the fresh salmon eaten in this country comes from giant fish farms, and those farms have problems. Big ones. Here are the facts about America’s favorite fish that you should know but perhaps wish you didn’t. • Large-scale salmon farms in the United States, Canada, Scotland, Norway and Chile have

Hillary Clinton continues to attack President Trump while abroad, this time during an interview with a Dutch news network. During the interview, which took place on March 13, Clinton alleged that Trump is undermining the presidency in exchange for personal and familial gain. “He has undermined the office and used it to enrich himself and his family,” Clinton said. “Disregarded laws, ethical standards.” “He’s crossed into a territory of behavior and actions that are unpredictable, that are erratic, that are undermining the stability of the global order,” she continued. Clinton came under fire last week during a trip to India when she

Science fiction author Kim Stanley Robinson is one of the best-known names in a genre known for looking forward. However, not all writers in the genre look to the future for their ideas -- plenty are obsessed with moving backwards, from liberty back to tyranny. Robinson recently penned an op-ed in The Guardian that favors removing humans from most of the world, forcefully herding us all into cities. "The tendency of people to move to cities, either out of desire or perceived necessity, creates a great opportunity. If we managed urbanisation properly, we could nearly remove ourselves from a considerable percentage of

Just three in 10 are ´proud.´ Fifty-five per cent believe the commander-in-chief does not have ´a sense of decency.´ Fifty-seven percent told pollsters the president is ´not honest.´ And a whopping 67 per cent – more than 2 out of every 3 voters – feel he´s a poor role model for children. The unmistakably dour results were released Wednesday by Quinnipiac University in Connecticut. Actors and athletes increasingly using their forums for political activism are turning off viewers, according to a newly released poll. One of my liberal friends admitted to me recently that there is a certain virtue to losing gracefully. She was referencing her disappointment with the mean-spirited salvos Hillary Clinton delivered during her recent visit to India, an outburst closer to being disgraceful than full of grace. I’ve been trying to figure Hillary out for almost a half century, ever since I found myself part of an alumnae audience listening to the Wellesley Class of 1969’s graduation spokesperson -- known then as Hillary Rodham -- erupt in condescending anger at the commencement’s guest speaker. Even all those years ago, it was
