Messing with Texas, Yet Again

If you want to get your left-leaning friends all fired up — and maybe, if they’re political junkies, even veering into the territory of delirious excitement — start talking about turning Texas blue. More specifically, as we inch our way toward the 2018 midterms, you can start talking about Beto O’Rourke, the newest heartthrob of Texas Democrats and beyond. “It’s happening again,” Mimi Schwartz wrote in the New York Times last May. “The stirring of the heart. The quickening of the pulse. The desire to abandon reality, even if you suspect there’s a world of hurt to come. Love, thy

Comments:
O´Rourke is a much more appealing candidate for the Dems than either of the Castro twins. There is a lot of hope being invested in Beto. But now is not his time. Cruz will bury him at the polls.

It is of great concern that as the lefties bail out of the states they have trashed with policies they voted for that they will trash any state they move to with the same policies.

Sorry about the long sentence.

It made perfect sense to me, #2, I live in Florida and the leftie-loons from the northeast are doing their best to destroy it...just like they did to the northeast.

Is Beto pro-gun? If he truly is (and he doesn´t appear to be given his other policy stances) then he has a shot if he carries Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, etc. Sorry to say, that´s how single issue many Texans are.

#4, O´Rourke is rated 100% by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

He is rated 7% by the NRA

He is rated 10% by the Gun Owners of America

He voted Nay on Veterans 2nd Amendment Protection Act

https://votesmart.org/candidate/78533/beto-orourke?categoryId=37&filter=[%27V%27,%20%27S%27,%20%27R%27,%20%27E%27,%20%27F%27,%20%27P%27]#.Wpq3MWrwapo

But, on his Beto for Senate page, I can´t find a single word about guns. Perhaps I missed it.

https://betofortexas.com/issues/

He is for ending the federal prohibition on marijuana. And he is for very loose controls on immigration.

But, we Texans must understand that Beto has a very nice smile. That´s important to some of the morons.

Texas elected LBJ, and we are not bragging about that. The major cities are ran by Democrats. Our borders have been open, and immigrants have flooded in. Many liberals have moved to Texas, but it is Austin, the Texas leftist mecca they have chosen. We should never underestimate the Democrats, who will stoop to any dirty trick to win an election. Alabama now has Doug Jones. Good grief! We have to be diligent in Texas, and get out and vote. The Democrats are swarming, and the agitators are stirring, so we had better get ourselves to the polls in the midterms and beyond for PDT, and the Republicans, if we do not want to be surprised, and disappointed.

Growing Up With Steve Miller
Texas Monthly Magazine, by Max Marshall    Original Article

One night in the spring of 2007, when I was thirteen, my little brother and I cupped our hands to our upstairs hallway window, looked through the cigar smoke in our backyard, and tried to find Steve Miller. There was a grown-up party swirling around outside, but we couldn’t figure out which adult was the celebrity guest. We’d learned every Steve Miller Band classic rock hit from 93.3 The Bone, but we had no idea what the guy looked like. The albums we owned either had a painting of Pegasus or a man in a Joker mask on the cover,

Insubordination and Bias at FBI

Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s 500-page report covers plenty, but it can be distilled to two words he uses to describe the Federal Bureau of Investigation during the 2016 election: insubordination and bias. Two terms that are chilling in connection with such a powerful agency. That won’t be the message from Democrats and most of the press, who will focus on a few episodes they will claim cost Hillary Clinton an election. Watch for them to blame former FBI Director James Comey, whom the report faults for “a serious error of judgment,” for having “concealed information” from superiors, and for “violation of or

A key FBI investigator in the probes into Russian election meddling and Hillary Clinton’s email server wrote to his bureau colleague and lover that “we’ll stop” Donald Trump from becoming president. Inspector General Michael Horowitz on Thursday revealed the text message exchange between the agent, Peter Strzok, and FBI lawyer Lisa Page, in his report on the FBI’s and Justice Department’s probe into the bureau’s handling of the probe into Clinton’s emails, the Washington Post reported. “[Trump’s] not ever going to become president, right? Right?!” the lawyer, Lisa Page, wrote to Strzok. “No. No he won’t.

Rod Rosenstein, cult hero

More than any federal agency or department I’ve worked for, with, or against, the Justice Department resembles a cult. Its employees think they are special. They feel intense hostility towards the Department’s adversaries. They are fiercely loyal to the Department and compulsively committed to its ways of doing things. Outsiders are viewed with condescension and suspicion, if not contempt. Obviously, many DOJ employees do not buy fully into the cult, but many do. Those who rise to the top tend to embrace it the most. This brings us to Rod Rosenstein, a career DOJ attorney who joined the department in 1990.

Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz faults then-FBI Director James Comey for being “insubordinate” and other FBI agents for sending anti-Trump text messages in his long-awaited review of the FBI and DOJ’s Hillary Clinton investigation during the 2016 presidential election. For more than a year, Horowitz has been reviewing the agencies’ actions related to its investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server while she was secretary of state. The report was released Thursday afternoon. Horowitz’s investigation looked at a variety of allegations, including whether it was improper for Comey to make a

Disruption Isn’t Enough
Wall Street Journal, by Editorial    Original Article

Donald Trump has proved in 18 months that he can disrupt the global status quo, for better (Iran) and worse (trade). The question as he brawls with his G-7 allies after their annual summit and now meets with adversary Kim Jong Un is whether the President knows that disruption isn’t enough. Sooner or later he has to contribute to a better world order instead of merely blowing up the old one. Unlike most of the U.S.-Europe foreign-policy elite, we think the world needed some shaking up. Barack Obama saw America as an overstretched power that needed restraining for the world’s

Ben Rhodes worked for eight full years as Barack Obama’s deputy national security adviser for strategic communications and speechwriting, a White House position that was inaugurated the same day Mr. Obama was. “Like Obama, Rhodes is a storyteller who uses a writer’s tools to advance an agenda that is packaged as politics but is often quite personal,” journalist David Samuels wrote in a 2016 profile. “Even where the particulars of that story are true, the implications that readers and viewers are encouraged to take away from those particulars are often misleading or false.” Is it possible that Mr. Rhodes’s talent for

Janique Walker knows the cost of a split second. Her younger brother, 17-year-old Charles Macklin, was killed while trying to steal a Jeep from a Chicago fire lieutenant on the West Side last August. The lieutenant had left the Jeep running, and Macklin jumped behind the wheel. The lieutenant ran in front of the Jeep and shouted, “Get out,” according to a police report. When Macklin began pulling away, the lieutenant drew his gun and fired through the open driver’s side window, hitting the teen in the chest. Macklin’s last words were, “Sorry, bro,” according to the police report. The teen died on the pavement. He did not have a gun on

Sen. Elizabeth Warren says her life has become a round-the-clock nightmare due to the prospect of Democrats botching the midterm elections. A conversation with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow revealed the perpetual “terror” the Massachusetts lawmaker experiences as voters prepare to go to the polls in November. Mrs. Warren admitted her fears Thursday evening when confronted with a scenario in which Democrats fail to capture control of either chamber of Congress. “I really, really want us to do [succeed]. I’m going to work really, really hard to make that happen,” she said. “I run every day filled with terror that it won’t

The state of Illinois has approved $224 million to pay for street and transportation projects in Chicago´s South Side neighborhood around the Obama Presidential Center site, $199 million of which will fall directly on the shoulders of Illinois taxpayers. Gov. Bruce Rauner signed into law the legislature´s budget on June 4, which included $174 million for road work in and around Jackson Park — where the 235-foot-tall building would be located — and another $50 million to renovate an above-ground rail stop two miles away. “Bringing the Obama Presidential Center to Chicago took leadership and vision, and we are gratified that our

You wonder why Fox News is Number One in cable? It´s because CNN, MSNBC, NBC and the rest are so relentlessly negative about Donald Trump they force people to watch Fox to find out the truth about the growing economy or the historically low unemployment rates for blacks. Take this week´s Singapore Summit. No matter what President Trump accomplished in Singapore in his face-to-face meeting with North Korea´s Kim Jong Un, for Joe, Mika and their fellow foreign policy experts in the media, it was not enough. Or it was too much. Or Trump was naive or stupid. Or he gave away too much. Or he didn't ask "Little Rocket Man"

Christian leaders across the country have taken issue with Attorney General Jeff Session´s usage of the Bible as justification of his policy that is separating thousand of immigrant families at the border. Sessions cited Romans 13 to attempt to justify how separating families was ordained by God because ´orderly and lawful processes are good in themselves and protect the weak and lawful.´ For religious leaders who still weren´t pleased with his usage of scripture, he offered them to ´speak up strongly to urge anyone who would come here to apply lawfully, to wait their turn and not violate the law.´

Just in time for Father´s Day, CNN brings you the story of a biological female who refers to herself as a transgender man who, after taking testosterone to "transition," conceived a child with a man who was "transitioning" into a transgender woman but stopped taking hormones long enough that they could conceive a son. (Tweet/Photo) The "he" in question is Sabastion Sparks, 24, "a transgender man who lives with his wife Angel in suburban Atlanta." The White House called MSNBC´s Joe Scarborough´s comments comparing the actions of immigration law enforcement officers at US border crossings to those of Nazis ´appalling´ on Friday. Scarborough pointed out while hosting ´Morning Joe´ on Friday that federal agents at US borders have reportedly used tactics similar to those used by Nazi soldiers during World War II to separate Jewish families, in saying children are being taken to ´shower´ and never returning with them. ´This is the type of inflammatory and unacceptable rhetoric that puts a target on the backs of our great law enforcement,´ White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley
