John Mahoney has died. The actor passed away on Sunday in Chicago, Illinois, his manager confirmed to PEOPLE. He was 77. Born in Blackpool, England, in 1940, Mahoney became best known for his role as Martin Crane in NBC’s Frasier, though he didn’t kick-start his acting career until later on in life. As a child, Mahoney — who was one of eight children from a Irish-Catholic family — witnessed the struggles of war firsthand as it quickly tore apart his parents’ marriage. The British native attended St. Joseph’s College in Blackpool but was determined to immigrate to the United States.

Comments:
Sorry to hear he died. Loved his character on ´Frasier´.

Ah, that´s sad. Sounds like a regular guy. I always enjoyed his "Frasier" character, keeping his two nutty psychiatrist sons grounded. Rest in peace.

Couldn’t agree more with the sentiments in the above posts.
Late night Frazier reruns are one of the happy things in my life.
The series ran so long, two Eddies ended up playing the part. I hope he’s now with them both.

Oh no! This makes me sad, he is one of my favorites. Frasier is my favorite show of all time, but I loved him in Moonstuck playing opposite of Olympia Dukakis too. He had smiling eyes.

John seems like such a nice man. There was always a twinkle in his eye as though he knew something was about to happen.
Thanks for the Frasier years. I still watch the reruns every night.
And yes, 77 is way too young!
Rest In Peace!

WASHINGTON — Former Vice President Joe Biden is tiptoeing toward a potential presidential run in 2020, even broaching the possibility during a recent gathering of longtime foreign policy aides. (Snip) A presidential candidate twice before, Biden would be 78 on Inauguration Day if elected in 2020, a concerning prospect for some Democrats even though he´s only a few years older than Trump. One possibility that Biden´s longtime advisers have discussed privately is that he could announce his intention to serve only one term, clearing the path for his running mate to take over in 2024 and potentially setting up Democrats

WASHINGTON – It turns out Donald Trump wasn’t the only candidate the Russians allegedly tried to help during the 2016 presidential campaign. A 37-page indictment resulting from special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation shows that Russian nationals and businesses also worked to boost the campaigns of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and Green party nominee Jill Stein in an effort to damage Democrat Hillary Clinton. The Russians “engaged in operations primarily intended to communicate derogatory information about Hillary Clinton, to denigrate other candidates such as Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, and to support Bernie Sanders and then-candidate Donald Trump,” according to the

According to the documents, which were filed on Wednesday and obtained by PEOPLE Friday, Justin Stiegemeyer, Presley’s current business manager who is responsible for “day-to-day finances and paying all of her bills,” disclosed that the 50-year-old had first learned of her debt while her old business manager Provident Financial Management was

Lindsey Vonn didn´t have to make any excuses for her sixth-place finish in Saturday´s super-G at the 2018 Winter Olympics. TV analysts, newspaper writers, Twitter users and fans were already making them for her: Since Vonn happened to be the first skier out of the gate, she was at a tremendous disadvantage, one that proved fatal when she slipped near the end of the course, costing her precious time that would have easily won her gold. (Snip) But then Vonn went on NBC and complained about it herself. She transformed from a sympathetic figure to a poor loser in a

PYEONGCHANG, South Korea — The miserable, biting cold and wind whipping through the Taebaek Mountains has subsided, giving way to sun-splashed mornings and pleasantly brisk temperatures. The norovirus outbreak that sent dozens into violent stomach illness has seemingly been contained. The agenda-wielding political figures have vacated the premises, yielding the Olympic stage to the athletes. (Snip) Thank goodness for figure skater Adam Rippon, whose feud with Vice President Pence has at least provided a cultural flashpoint for Team USA. But even his celebrity turn here masks a sad truth: In a sport where the Americans have put forward exceptional Olympic

The FBI admitted Friday that it received a detailed tip about accused Florida school shooter Nikolas Cruz in January, but failed to follow up and investigate. Within hours of the revelation, Florida Gov. Rick Scott demanded FBI Director Christopher Wray’s resignation – despite Wray offering an apology to the family of victims. (Snip) In a statement, the FBI said that a person close to Cruz, who has allegedly confessed to killing 17 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., called the FBI tip line with concerns on Jan. 5.
