White House warns Democrats
not to ‘hold the government
hostage’ as budget talks resume

Washington Times, by Stephen Dinan, Dave Boyer

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 1/3/2018 6:24:29 PM

The White House kicked off a new round of budget negotiations with Congress on Wednesday, as President Trump told Democrats to abandon a “radical political agenda” on immigration and agree to a no-strings spending bill to keep the government open beyond a mid-January deadline. Democrats are hoping to include a long list of their priorities in the bill, which is due by Jan. 19: a boost in domestic spending, a pension bailout for some labor-union members, more money for the anti-opioid fight and the Children’s Health Insurance Program, and a permanent legal solution for illegal immigrant “Dreamers.”

Comments:
The dRATS politicians obfuscate and threaten US through their media pundits whenever there is the chance that the government may be shut down because of an annual needed spending bill. Until the GOP gets a backbone, they will keep all of US hostage to their bad desires against US. Let´s hope that President Trump won´t blink this time.

Unions are a private enterprise and the government has no business getting involved. The unions underfunded pensions are not the problem of the American people, it´s between the union and it´s leaders! The government didn´t contribute to my company sponsored retirement, so why should I contribute to a union plan I have no stake in?

Hubble at 28: Telescope has
helped explain mysteries of universe
United Press International, by Brooks Hays    Original Article

Today, astronomers know the age and size of the universe with greater certainty and precision than they did 28 years ago, thanks to 28 years of working with the Hubble Space Telescope. "When I was a grad student 30 years ago, we were arguing about the size and scale of the universe," NASA scientist Jeff Hayes told UPI. Hayes has said those arguments featured estimates differing by a factor of two. "Today, thanks to Hubbles´ observations, we are down to a couple of percent," he said. Hubble was designed to measure the size and age of the universe, as well as the rate of its expansion, and it succeeded in doing just that.

Washington - Two US senators, one Democrat and one Republican, introduced legislation Tuesday aimed at better protecting online privacy in response to the Facebook data scandal. (Snip) The “Social Media Privacy and Consumer Rights Act” introduced by Republican Senator John Kennedy and Democrat Amy Klobuchar would require terms of service agreements to be in plain language, and enable users to see what information about them has already been collected and shared. It would also allow consumers the right to opt out and keep their information private by disabling data tracking and collection, and mandate that

U.S. Magistrate Judge Viktor Pohorelsky set Mack´s bail at $5 million bond during a hearing Tuesday in Brooklyn federal court after the 35-year-old actress spent the weekend in jail, according to the U.S. Attorney´s Office for New York´s Eastern District. But Mack won't be freed entirely: Mack was ordered to home detention with electronic monitoring in central California after prosecutors made the case the actress was a risk to flee

Nancy Pelosi promises ‘pro-choice

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Tuesday the Democratic Party doesn’t have litmus tests for its congressional candidates — though she made it clear that if Democrats flip control of the House, they will fight for abortion rights. Mrs. Pelosi told the student at the Georgetown Institute of Politics that Democrats will support pro-life Democrats over a pro-life Republicans in order to increase their chances of taking over the lower chamber and that she takes “heat” for that. “We will have a pro-choice gavel when we win the Congress,” Mrs. Pelosi said. “We need to have at least 218 votes to achieve that. So this isn’t a pragmatic

Attorney General Jeff Sessions will not recuse himself from the investigation into President Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen, according to a media report Tuesday. However, Mr. Sessions may step back from specific questions tied to the probe, Bloomberg reported. Mr. Sessions will access briefings on the status of the Cohen investigation and voice his opinion on decisions made by prosecutors, including whether to issue subpoenas or indictments, according to the report. That could put Mr. Sessions in a position where he asked about the Cohen probe by Mr. Trump, Bloomberg reported.

(Video) - James Comey´s "A Higher Loyalty" had a very big opening week. Flatiron Books announced Tuesday that sales topped 600,000 copies, a number that includes print, audio and e-books. The former FBI director´s memoir has been one of the year´s most anticipated releases. It includes his accounts of investigating Hillary Clinton´s emails and of his awkward encounters with President Donald Trump. Comey, fired by Trump a year ago, has likened the president to a crime boss who values personal loyalty over service to the country. Published April 17, "A Higher Loyalty" is the hottest political book since Michael Wolff´s

(Video) - A NASA aircraft has spotted something in the Arctic that it can´t explain and it has "never seen before." On April 14, NASA´s Operation Ice Bridge captured images over the Beaufort Sea, 50 miles northwest of the Mackenzie River Delta. The images, taken by mission scientist John Sonntag, show unusual or "curious" circles that the government agency can´t explain. “We saw these sorta-circular features only for a few minutes today,” Sonntag wrote from the field, according to NASA. “I don’t recall seeing this sort of thing elsewhere.” NASA released the above-image, in conjunction with the mission.

US Winter Olympians who competed in PyeongChang are heading to the White House this week, but some of the most notable names are skipping the prestigious event. The 2018 Winter Olympics were, at times, used by athletes to vocalize their dissatisfaction with the Trump administration. Alpine skier Lindsey Vonn, figure skater Adam Rippon and freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy have all spoke out against the administration. They are among a large swath of about 60 Olympians who will not attend the White House reception this year. Chloe Kim, Mirai Nagasu, Mikaela Shiffrin, and Shaun White are also not visiting the White House

Perhaps the most enduring puzzlement about Donald Trump the president and candidate is his ability, if that’s what it is, to attract a faithful political base founded on fervent evangelical Christians, despite his frequently reinforced reputation for less than righteous acts and statements. During the 2015-16 campaign, each emerging example of Trump misbehavior, from off-color references to women and allegations of affairs, convinced Eastern elites and media to believe the billionaire’s upstart political rebellion was doomed any day. [Snip] Among allegedly conservative Republicans, Trump approval has climbed into the mid-80 percent range. All this despite continued stormy allegations by a

WASHINGTON – Former Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.) urged Congress not to legalize marijuana, breaking with other members of his party such as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). Schumer announced today for the 4/20 cannabis holiday his plan to decriminalize marijuana at the federal level, writing that he had evolved on the issue along with the electorate. Kennedy argued lawmakers should oppose legalization of marijuana, in part because it would worsen the crisis of addiction in America. “The biggest issue here is denial in our lives, those of us who come from homes with alcoholism and addiction, who live with it in our

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is set to announce a federal jobs proposal that would guarantee a job with at least a $15-per-hour wage and health benefits to every adult American “who wants or needs one,” The Washington Post reports. The senator is still in the early stages of crafting the plan, according to the Post, which would provide a job or required training for any American. Sanders´s office has yet to release the details of the plan´s funding, but previous large-scale projects proposed by the Vermont progressive have involved ending tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans and large corporations.

On the domestic and foreign fronts, the Trump administration has prompted economic growth and restored U.S. deterrence. Polls show increased consumer confidence, and in some, Trump himself has gained ground. Yet good news is bad news to the Resistance and its strange continued efforts to stop an elected president in a way it failed to do in the 2016 election. Indeed, the aim of the so-called Resistance to Donald J. Trump is ending Trump’s presidency by any means necessary before the 2020 election. Or, barring that, it seeks to so delegitimize him that he becomes presidentially impotent. It has been only

Chelsea Clinton took inspiration from the Duchess of Cambridge for how to manage the birth of her first child, a new book claims. She and her aides ´studied´ how the British royal family had handled the birth of Prince George in 2013 in order to prepare for her own first baby, who was born a year later. Bill and Hillary Clinton´s only daughter Chelsea, as well as her staff, noted how press was handled and how the Duchess of Cambridge handled herself, and used it as a template for themselves, the book claims. The claim suggests that Chelsea saw herself
