Senate Plan Could Increase Taxes
on Some Middle-Class Workers

New York Times, by Jim Tankersley & Ben Casselman

WASHINGTON — Mitch McConnell, the Senate majority leader, acknowledged on Friday that the Republican tax plan might result in a tax hike for some working Americans, saying he “misspoke” days earlier when he said that “nobody in the middle class is going to get a tax increase” under the Senate bill. “I misspoke on that,” Mr. McConnell, a Kentucky Republican, said in an interview on Friday with The New York Times. “You can’t guarantee that absolutely no one sees a tax increase, but what we are doing is targeting levels of income and looking at the average in those levels and

Comments:
This is going to be another unmitigated disaster for the Republicans. So far there isn´t much I have seen that is really exceptional about either of the bills. And you will never convince me that McConnell (and the rest of his RINO buddies) isn´t purposefully sabotaging Trump, again. Anything that Trump has proposed that is beneficial for us he is against. I despise that evil, worthless jerk. I don´t buy the BS that he´s such an savvy politician. He´s savvy and diligent only when his quest is to destroy Trump or any conservative candidate in a political campaign.

McConnell is the lowest rated member of the Senate.
The New York times is a diaper rash.

I don´t relish either one in finding truth.

Both are driven by agenda.

They spent like drunk sailors the last 8 years under Obama and that "no budget" Administration of his. And it´s the same Congress that never demanded Obama produce one single budget and stick to it, instead running the government nearly to "shutdown" over and over to get spending increased, until he left office.

Now these lazy louts want to make us middle-class taxpayers pay for all of THEIR past sins.

Every one of them needs to be fired starting with Mitch.

With more people being added to the rolls of those that pay no federal income taxes at all, and Congress´s stated goal of not affecting total revenue, that means you are going to pay more to subsidize tax cuts for other people. Both the Senate and House bills are monstrosities, a bad nightmare, without anything to do with honesty, tax cuts for those that pay them, and cutting the size of government.

The senate only works 2 days a week, they should all go home. They have’t passed a bill since Obana left office. The house sent them over 300 bills that are being ignored. Boehner, Ryan & McConnell passed every bill & budget Obama requested.

McConnell has to go one way or another. The senate will be better for it. We need a MAGA leader there. My opinion is that McConnell and Ryan want to lose the majority, then when the democrats are in charge again, they can start impeachment proceedings. That is how they are planning on getting rid of Trump.

Our only hope is to primary out the republican RINOS, and elect their replacements . . . That´s a tall order.

I agree with #7´s assessment of the leadership´s intent.

Establishment republicans WANT to be in the minority. That´s how their personal power works. With Dem majority, the Grahams and McConnells can safely make all sorts of pledges to conservative voters without having to deliver. Under the table they work with Dems to grow government and give special benefits to their donors.

It pretty clear that the establishment Republicans in Congress who in reality make up the Republican faction of the DC Uniparty are moving according to plan to sabotage all President Trump’s (outsider) initiated reforms.

That Republican faction just about always goes along to get along with the liberal Democrats who still actually control the Congress, and are not about to actually facilitate any major legislation that the liberal Democrats oppose.

Clearly the current Republican congressional leadership is not fit for purpose and would be pleased as punch to be back in the minority where they would have little responsibility as Democrat sponsored legislation moved ahead, while on trips back home they would continue to pile rhetorical “Snow jobs” on their constituents. Right now President Trump is fighting a very deep and dangerous swamp that the American people sent him to DC to drain.

Whenever a politician uses the term "misspoke", he/she means lies. I believe we first heard that term when Hillary used it. She is still misspeaking as is McConnell. I don´t trust any of them. None of them speak for me.

First - this is from the NYT, so is certainly chock full of lies, misinformation and propaganda. DO NOT take the NYT as fact, ever.

However, I have seen some of the proposals from the Senate in other sources. Since we haven´t seen a final bill, they are are certainly full of Fake News, too. Wait until we see a bill before getting too cranked up.

The biggest screwup, if they are really considering it, would be delaying the most important part, the corporate tax reduction for one to four years. We need this to grow the economy, grow jobs, increase paychecks across the board. This is crucial.

If the Senate really goes down this path, it will be a disaster. IMO, certain Senators are intending to block all good bills and thereby destroy Trump, and will instead destroy themselves. Fortunately, two will be gone after the next election.

Rep. John Conyers, newly facing sexual misconduct charges from former aides, was praised by fellow Rep. Maxine Waters just last month as a champion of women. During an address to organizers of the national Women’s March in which she lashed out at “rape culture” and President Trump, she singled out the Michigan lawmaker for special attention. An FBI informant gathered extensive evidence during his six years undercover about a Russian plot to corner the American uranium market, ranging from corruption inside a U.S. nuclear transport company to Obama administration approvals that let Moscow buy and sell more atomic fuels, according to more than 5,000 pages of documents from the counterintelligence investigation. The memos, reviewed by The Hill, conflict with statements made by Justice Department officials in recent days that informant William Campbell’s prior work won’t shed much light on the U.S. government’s controversial decision in 2010 to approve Russia’s purchase of the Uranium One mining company

Bill Clinton is facing explosive new charges of sexual assault from four women, according to highly placed Democratic Party sources and an official who served in both the Clinton and Obama administrations. The current accusations against the 71-year-old former president — whose past is littered with charges of sexual misconduct — stem from the period after he left the White House in 2001, say the sources. Attorneys representing the women, who are coordinating their efforts, have notified Clinton they are preparing to file four separate lawsuits against him. As part of the ongoing negotiations, the attorneys for the women are

Ohio State Supreme Court Justice Bill O´Neill is something of an eccentric character. After repeated unsuccessful campaigns for Congress and for Ohio´s Supreme Court, the Democrat shocked everyone when he won his current seat in 2012. He knocked off a Republican incumbent despite promising to take no campaign contributions, in part thanks to backlash against a scorched-earth Republican campaign ad against him, accusing him of expressing sympathy for rapists. Speaking of which, O´Neill is in the news again today for his um...unorthodox response to the current controversy over alleged sexual harassment or assault by Minnesota Sen. Al Franken, Judge Roy Moore,
