Senate rejects bipartisan push
for new US war authorization

The Senate on Wednesday rejected a bipartisan push for a new war authorization against the Islamic State and other terrorist groups, electing to let the White House rely on a 16-year-old law passed after the Sept. 11 attacks as the legal basis to send U.S. troops into combat. Senators voted 61-36 scuttle an amendment to the annual defense policy bill by Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., that would have allowed war authorizations, created in the wake of al-Qaida´s 9/11 strikes, to lapse after six months. Paul, a leader of the GOP's noninterventionist wing, said Congress would use the time to debate an updated war authority for operations in Iraq,

Comments:
The fact that this was led by Rand Paul should make the GOP wonder, "How can we remove this meddlesome "RINO"? (He needs to be cut from our herd ASAP.) What a true disgrace he continues to be. We now have a "noninterventionist wing"? Bueller?

Sorry Rand, but not in your dreams will this happen. We know you are still sore about the primaries, so hang with Hillary and you two can have a pity party.

1. The Constitution, the Supreme Law of the Land, explicitly says only Congress may declare war.

2. Nowhere in the Constitution is Congress allowed to cede its authority to another branch of government.

3. Nowhere in the Constitution is the Executive branch allowed to accept authority offered to it by another branch of government.

Any war not specifically and officially declared by Congress is in violation of the Constitution and is therefore illegal.

Hear, Hear!, #3. No UN interventions. No police actions, no extended military engagements, no Resolution. If Congress doesn´t have the stomach to declare war than troops should not be sent into the grind. They are a bunch of gutless wonders. If it is a matter of national security then declare war. Then the Brass runs the show, otherwise it´s these spineless crooks that runs it. And we know how that turns out. Korea, VN, ME.

Of course they rejected this...they´d like another uninterrupted 16 year raid on the treasury for their friends and contributors, not to mention the "stimulus" it provides. Killed any "terrorists" today?

Free speech week: The circus is back at
Berkeley (and there are plenty of clowns)

The circus is returning to the University of California, Berkeley, as a sequel to rioting in February by black-clad protesters angered by the campus visit of conservative speaker Milo Yiannapolous. The goal of the protestors then and now is simple: demonize and silence conservatives. Shamefully, the Berkeley rioting was permitted by a hands-off attitude by university administrators. After a now-departed chancellor and his aides ordered University of California police to stand aside, rioters set fires, inflicted $100,000 in damage to university buildings, and prevented Yiannapolous from speaking.

Seoul, South Korea - North Korea has long cultivated an image of defiant belligerence, punctuating its propaganda and diplomacy with colorful threats, insults and bluffs. (Snip) The North Korean news media carried photographs of Mr. Kim sitting in his office and reading his statement, but his voice was not broadcast. President Trump on Friday labeled Kim Jong-un a “mad man,” shortly after the North Korean leader had called him a “mentally deranged U.S. dotard.” “Kim Jong Un of North Korea, who is obviously a madman who doesn’t mind starving or killing his people, will be tested like never before!” Mr. Trumptweeted. Mr. Trump was apparently responding to the North Korean leader’s reaction to the president’s address to the United Nations. “Far from making remarks of any persuasive power that can be viewed to be helpful to defusing tension, he made unprecedented rude nonsense one has never heard from any of his

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) announced on Friday that he will vote against the latest GOP effort to repeal ObamaCare, potentially dooming the legislation. “I cannot in good conscience vote for the Graham-Cassidy proposal. I believe we could do better working together, Republicans and Democrats, and have not yet really tried," he said in a statement, referring to the legislation spearheaded by GOP Sens. Lindsey Graham (S.C) and Bill Cassidy (La.). McCain´s announcement leaves GOP leadership with no room for error.

The Senate’s top Democrat offered praise for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) after he said he would oppose the latest ObamaCare repeal bill, which narrows the chance that Republicans can get the legislation to President Trump’s desk. “John McCain shows the same courage in Congress that he showed when he was a naval aviator,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said an hour after McCain’s statement. “I have assured Senator McCain that as soon as repeal is off the table, we Democrats are intent on resuming the bipartisan process.” McCain is the second Republican, after Sen. If NFL fans continue to turn away from football, the TV networks could lose as much as $200 million in earnings, according to a new report. After ratings for Week Two crashed, adding to the angst already felt by a poor showing in Week 1, industry insiders and analysts are sounding the alarm. A new report claims that CBS, ESPN, Fox and NBC could take a $200 million hit to their estimated $2.5 billion in NFL advertising earnings if fans continue to turn off the TV, the The Hollywood Reporter noted recently. The worries over earnings are not allayed by

A new fifth grade teacher at Canopy Oaks Elementary is asking students to use gender-neutral pronouns in the classroom. Math and science teacher Chloe Bressack sent the request home in a letter to parents headlined "About Mx. Bressack." “... my pronouns are ´they, them, their´ instead of ´he, his, she, hers.´ I know it takes some practice for it to feel natural,” the letter reads, “but students catch on pretty quickly.” The letter also asks that students use “Mx.," (pronounced ´Mix´) when addressing the teacher rather than Mr. or Ms. The note alarmed some parents. ABC has greenlit a new sitcom tentatively titled "Sanctuary Family" about an undocumented family living in the U.S. The network says the show will follow the pandemonium that unfolds when a married couple allows their undocumented nanny and her family to live with them. The guests put a strain on the marriage of the host family but they eventually learn that “the differences both families have aren’t as significant as their similarities,” according to the description provided by ABC. Undocumented immigrants are foreign-born people who don’t have a legal right to be or remain in the United States and the

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel used his opening monologue Thursday to once again lambast supporters of the Graham-Cassidy health care bill -- and at one point called a Republican senator from Louisiana an "inbred." The host of ABC´s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” has emerged as a strong celebrity advocate for universal health care since his infant son had to undergo open-heart surgery in April. Kimmel made an announcement about his son during a memorable monologue at the time and has taken up the cause ever since. Part of his goal is for every child in the U.S. to have the same access to
