Colorado’s U.S. Senator Cory Gardner among a bi-partisan group of senators who are sponsoring legislation to secure the so-called Internet of Things – everyday devices that are embedded with computer chips and sensors. Gardner says those devices can be used as weapons of mass disruption. “The federal government orders billions of dollars worth of Internet of Things devices each and every year,” says Gardner. “These are things that can be hacked into. You can try to control systems, instruments

Nope, not mine. I worked with computers for 45 years; I certainly don´t need them invading my home-front, thank you very much!

Memorize this: Not everything needs to be connected to the internet.

#2. Especially stoves, refrigerators, garage doors, gates, pumps, air conditioners. In fact, any device that moves things or uses significant power.

Picture your cat being crushed by an automatic gate that closed/opened while you were away.

Not to mention the propensity of refrigerators to blow up and catch entire buildings on fire. Perhaps that only happens to British fridges.

Orange is not a good color with my complexion and stripes make me look fat. Should the Feds get hold of my TV they will have a lot of swearing to listen to. And I´ll be wearing orange or black and white stripes for a long time.

Bought a water heater this summer. I didn´t know there was one with WiFi.

For What?

Otherwise I think this is colossally stupid to want the Feds to regulate your appliances even more than they do now: Dish washers, fridges, clothes washers, toilets...electric tooth brushes

Did you know Vacuum cleaners will be regulated to limit their power. Save the earth, ya´ know.

Just because an appliance has wi fi capability doesn´t mean you have to use it. My refrigerator & whole house generator has wi fi I do not use. It you decide to use it an alert will be sent to your smart phone when to change a filter, do yearly maintenance etc. plus some charge a fee.

These are part of what is called the "Internet of Things (IoT)". I refer to it as "the Internet of NOT Your Things" because in order for all of these "smart" things to work, they have to e connected to somewhere that you don´t control. Not only do they represent a huge personal privacy and internet security risk, there is also another problem for the consumer. You see, despite the fact you believe that you "own" these things, you really don´t. They belong to those who control the software. Ask those folks who "bought" those fancy "Nest smart thermostats" about what happened when an IT tech made a mistake that resulting in them all shutting down in the middle of winter or what happened after Nest was bought out by Google and Google shut down the Nest servers, and their thermostats.

ABC kicked off Sunday’s Good Morning America with five minutes dedicated to the government shutdown. And despite the fact that Democrats were bragging that they had the votes to do it, the liberal network trashed Republicans and touted how they President Trump would take all the blame. “The government is not going to stay closed forever. The question is how long will it take. And you can see the argument on both sides. The ad features illegal alien Luis Bracamontes, 37, who is on trial for murdering two police officers and shooting a motorist in the head. Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) claimed on Friday evening that the government shutdown is about the “first racist president of the United States of America” wanting to end legal immigration. In a fiery speech at a MoveOn rally outside the Capitol on Friday evening, Gutierrez accused President Donald Trump of exposing himself as a racist with his “shithole” countries remarks. And though Trump reportedly made those remarks in regards to the visa lottery system and said he would welcome more immigrants from Asian countries, Gutierrez said the government shutdown was not about Trump’s border wall but about “ending legal immigration in
