Cow Farts Have ‘Larger Greenhouse
Gas Impact’ Than Previously Thought;
Methane Pushes Climate Change

International Business Times, by Philip Ross

Original Article

A new study of methane emissions finds that the U.S. is spewing 50 percent more methane, a greenhouse gas 21 times better at trapping heat than carbon dioxide, into the atmosphere than the Environmental Protection Agency previously assumed. Several factors contribute to the accumulation of methane gas in Earth’s atmosphere, such as the burning of fossil fuels and leaks from oil and gas refining and drilling, but one contender stands out above the rest as particularly repugnant: cow farts.(snip)According to the new research, livestock’s noxious flatulence accounts for a large portion of the methane gas being released into the atmosphere.

The millions of buffalo that roamed the plains had to be replaced by something else at that level of the food chain. There is very little difference between Bos and Bison, most notably their size, resulting in more voluminous flatus.

Millions of bison roamed the plains before man...and the climate was quite cold around the early 1800s. I guess methane from bison farts did not impact global warming. I think it´s the activity of the sun, not carbon load in the atmosphere that impacts temperatures. Recent lack of solar activity portends a cooling trend that is completely disconnected from carbon levels in the atmosphere, to the great disappointment of the global warming zealots. Just the premise of this article is laughable.

To expand upon the comparison of cattle to bison-we slaughter somewhere 30-35 million cattle every year.
In the 1840´s there were an estimated 60 million buffalo roaming the continent.

Sheep, antelopes, deer, elk, moose and giraffes must also be part of this problem as they all digest their food as cows do.

FTA: The new study of methane emissions in the U.S. was based on nearly 13,000 measurements taken from airplane flights and tall towers.

How many tall buildings are in cow pastures?

Does the data consider the fact that flights originate in cities, end in cities, and follow flight paths along a line of beacons?

In short, this is a tiny data set taken over years with huge potential for methane coming from other sources.

Barack Obama got quite the handful on Thursday, April 10, but it was all for a good cause! As the President of the United States was boarding Air Force One with his wife Michelle Obama, a gust of wind blew up her skirt. Barack quickly stepped in and grabbed the First Lady´s billowing skirt to help her avoid a wardrobe malfunction and embarrassing Marilyn Monroe moment. Earlier in the week, another famous lady on the global stage suffered a similar snafu, but no one was around to help her -- not even her prince!

"Warming by two degrees Celsius is going to have major implications.... 40 percent of the arable land in Africa will be gone at two degrees Celsius; Bangkok could very well be underwater at two

An autopsy on Peaches Geldof was inconclusive and toxicology tests will be conducted in an attempt to determine what killed the 25-year-old celebrity, police said Wednesday. Geldof was pronounced dead by paramedics at her home in southeast England on Monday. Kent Police said a post-mortem examination had not revealed the cause and a toxicology report could take several weeks. Geldof, the daughter of Irish musician Bob Geldof and the late TV presenter Paula Yates, had worked as a model, writer and television show host. She grew up in the glare of Britain´s press, which reveled in the late-night antics of her teenage years, and

The President is no economic illiterate, despite what conservatives think. He understands basic macroeconomics just fine, thank you – but with a twist. Mainstream Democrats worship at the altar of the New Deal. It’s an article of faith that massive government spending pulled America out of the Great Depression. (With all respect to Paul Krugman, the truth is more complicated, but that’s not within the scope of this article.)The president’s view of spending, deficits and debt is not merely Keynesian theory run amok. Its origins and objectives are far more terrifying. Where the traditional Democratic playbook for economic downturns was provided

WASHINGTON — About the only thing former President Ronald Reagan doesn´t have named after him is a mountain, not one recognized by the federal government anyway.(snip)Rep. Jared Huffman, D-Calif., said he thought DeFazio´s amendment was "terrific" but wanted to take it a step further and name the planet after Reagan. "We may want to consider going big with this Reagan-naming enthusiasm," Huffman said. "I´m beginning to see some possibilities in this." Huffman said his reasoning was that if the planet were named after Reagan, then Republicans might be more concerned with taking up legislation dealing with global warming.

A majority of Americans believe that President Barack Obama’s signature health care law will be repealed. A new Rasmussen Reports poll found that 62 percent of likely voters believe that Republicans will repeal Obamacare, which recently marked its fourth anniversary. Only 23 percent of those polled believe that the health care law has been a success, compared to 46 percent who describe the law as a failure. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, a potential 2016 presidential candidate, offered a Republican alternative to Obama’s health care overhaul last week, saying states should play a greater role in containing health care costs while

Neurosurgeon Ben Carson says the White House wanted him to apologize for “offending” President Obama after he famously delivered a conservative message at the National Prayer Breakfast last year. Carson, the former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, recalls the events surrounding his 2013 speech in his new book, One Nation: What We Can All Do To Save America’s Future. The Daily Caller obtained an advance copy of the book, which is set for release May 20. “He did not appear to be hostile or angry,” Carson writes of Obama, “but within a matter of minutes after the conclusion of

Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. Dr. Hans Breiter, co-senior study author, said he was inspired to look at the effects of casual

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you
