Police now believe two shooters, including one in fatigues, have killed four people and wounded eight others at the Washington Navy Yard on Monday, throwing the region into fear and chaos during the morning commute. At least one of the shooters is “down,” police said mid-morning, but it was unclear whether that means the suspect has been arrested or shot. They said the other suspect remains at large, and police believe they have pinned down one between the third and fourth floors of one of the buildings on the installation in Southeast Washington. Police on the scene said at least

Are our active duty military who work here allowed to carry their guns, or have they been stripped of the ability to protect themselves and others?

I´ve seen reports of one shooter, two shooters, three shooters ... The only thing you can count on as accurate is shots fired and the general location. I pray no more are killed except perps.

Ugh. This could either be another Hassan or another one of Obama´s sons. Or just a jerk who thinks he shouldn´t have been disciplined.

In any case, I believe military installations like this are mostly "gun free zones".

Prayers for the victims and their families. So awful.

Hopefully this isn´t some sort of test probe. One could learn a lot about DC´s response capabilities from this.

How is this possible? D.C. has very strict gun control laws.

Surely no one would violate gun control laws in order to shoot unarmed victims!

Someone has violated D.C.´s strict gun control laws in order to shoot victims who were unarmed because of the same gun control laws.

Clearly the only solution is to pass more gun control laws. We need more unarmed victims!

I hope all of the facts come out, especially if he is one of barack´s muslim half brothers...

Some background info on the Navy Yard. Any federal worker with a federal govt ID can access the base; its general access such as to a food court. Individual buildings probably have additional security. I don´t know - I never tried to enter any of them. The security is not as heavy as some reporters have been describing: although a civilian just cannot walk or drive onto the base. Adjacent to the base is the headquarters of the federal Dept of Transportation which is just across from the Metro station, Navy Yard/Stadium. Just to the east of DOT HQ is the Nationals baseball stadium which you can access from the same metro station: either
entrance.

In years past, say a decade ago, the biggest worry in this neighborhood was general crime but the are has experienced a revitalization so it is not nearly rundown as it use to be. The historical Marine Barracks (Eighth and I) is also located in this area.

It´s fun to watch these firearms ignorant ´newsies´ tap dance around what to call the weapons used by the perps.
It started out a long gun, then a shotgun, then a rifle now it´s the most dangerous rifle in the entire world an AR15. It can kill anything on the continent and entire world.
The truth folks it´s a medium powered weapon with a 22 caliber round. Puny when compared to larger caliber firearms.
Stuttering Wolf Blitzer even covered the housing and who lives at the Navy Yard. WOW! I´m impressed.
I want to know if they are Obama´s people, black muslims.
Unarmed Military bases and gun free zones. It´s time to dismantle the military and turn it into pizza delivery for the UN.

The majority of personnel on this base at any given time are civilian office workers. As for the active duty military stationed there carrying guns around - not a good idea.

So,you need ID and a security clearance to walk through the front door past the scanner and the TSA guy at the front door. What do you need to walk through the back door with a trash bin? What do you need to service the cafeteria?
More proof that all the scanners and uniformed, blue-gloved ´security´ personnel are just theater. Or a thinly veiled federal control force. Gun control? No. it is citizen-control.

Loaded weapons can not be carried by most military personnel at "peaceful" installations because a small percentage of military personnel are just plain careless with their weapons. You wouldn´t believe the number of both enlisted and officers who leave their small arms in phone booths, the chow hall, etc. and then have to report them lost.

That said, the government asks these people to be ready to lay down their lives at any time but refuses to give them ammo for their own safety. I would not serve again in the US military because today´s stupid PC rules needlessly get people killed in situations like this. Far better to have a few accidents or lost weapons than to leave our people helplessly unarmed during a terrorist attack.

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: I´ve gotta tell, another little thing about Nelson Mandela. Do you realize in a couple of ways, maybe even more than a couple, Nelson Mandela has more in common or had more in common with Clarence Thomas than he does with Barack Obama? For example, Nelson Mandela (even prior to becoming president, but certainly after he became president of South Africa) insisted on compliance with his country´s constitution. He insisted on it. Obama looks at the US Constitution as an obstacle and makes end runs around it every day, practically. In that sense... These are the kind of

The U.S. federal health insurance website HealthCare.gov, which has had technology problems since its October 1 launch, is now experiencing errors in transmitting applications about 10 percent of the time, a government spokeswoman said on Friday. The online insurance marketplace relays information about new customers in ´834´ transaction forms to the private insurance companies that provide the health plans. HealthCare.gov serves people in 36 states, while 14 states are running their own websites. "We believe nine of 10 transactions are being successfully transmitted," the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, or CMS, spokeswoman Julie Bataille said at a news briefing.

Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House.
