The fight is on. A growing — and furious — fight between the conservative base of the Republican Party and its Establishment elites in Washington is rapidly taking shape. Senator Ted Cruz took to Sean Hannity’s television show Tuesday night and took on Karl Rove, who had immediately preceded him on the show. In response to Rove’s strategy (Rove compared the defunding strategy to the famous — and losing — Pickett’s Charge of the Battle of Gettysburg). Cruz immediately countered by saying that while he wasn’t a military strategist he was pretty sure 100% of battles
Comments: If one is getting flak, it means that they´re over the target. God speed to ya Senator Cruz.
Democrats are so over-the-top in all criticism of Conservatives. We are not small government proponents but no government proponents. We are not right wing but far right wing. We are not pro-life but women haters. We´re racists and Nazi´s and homophobes. Their hyperbole is so overused anymore that it has no sting to it. It doesn´t hurt my feelings at all. When I hear the name calling I know we have won another argument. Chew them up and spit them out Ted. I am starting to like this guy...a lot.
Cornyn signed on to defund Obamacare and then started to wobble. He evidently heard from folks back home because he is strongly in support now.
This really isn´t about defunding, its about forcing Obama to either implement the law as passed or vote to amend the law. Its wrong to fund this with a continuing resolution when HHS is not going to verify eligibility and Obama is not going to implement the employer mandate.
Help me here folks. I always thought defunding 0bamacare meant it would stop dead in its tracks. I´m all for that. However, now I understanding that 0bamacare is already 95% funded and "de-funding" 0bamacare will only impact 5% of its implementation. Is that true? If so, the argument goes that 0bamacare will go ahead Jan. 1st come hell or high water no matter what. Is THAT also true? So, if all this is true, what do we accomplish by de-funding now.
Thank you #7. When you mentioned that Ted Cruz was Hispanic, you jarred me into recognizing that I´d slipped into the comfortable mode of thinking of him simply as an American...of Cuban descent.
I thought about my own heritage and compared myself to other Americans I admire. Dr. Ben Carson may be unique; he seems to be an American of straight Negro descent. But I identify closely with George Zimmerman who had a Peruvian mother with the rest of his heritage being like my "Heinz 57 Variety" lineage.
It is a pure pleasure to contemplate my multi-faceted fellow Americans for what they are: pure Americans.
Individuals who have even visited Israel, or who observe Judaism, or who carry a Bible are banned from Saudi Arabia. Yet Saudi Arabia´s Israel-hating King Abdullah just flew in an Israeli scientist to have dinner with him, to enjoy some royal hospitality, accept a medal and the $200,000 "Arab Nobel Prize." It´s a not-so-subtle message to President Obama: the unthinkable can happen, so don´t assume the Saudis won´t join with Israel to bomb Iran. Obama´s new Iran policy moves the Mid-East closer to war over oil and religion -- Sunni Saudis versus Shia Iranians. There is no more strategic commodity than
Before "if you like your plan, you can keep it," the Obama left made a whole spate of false promises in the realm of sexuality. It´s worth connecting the dots between the folly of ObamaCare, an issue for which I wasn´t personally on the front lines, and the sweeping folly of sexual radicalism, an issue for which I was. In the rhetorical battlefield over sex and sexuality, the left rehearsed and perfected public-opinion warfare. These seasoned tactics led to the triumphal hubris of ObamaCare and the collateral damage of its inexorable implosion. Pick your antique allegory of overconfidence: the Tower of Babel,
"I´ve written two books," Senator Barack Obama told a crowd of teachers in Virginia on the campaign trial in July of 2008. The teachers applauded. "I actually wrote them myself," he added with a wink and a nod, and now the teachers exploded in laughter. They got the joke: Republicans were too stupid to write their books. Although few fussed over Obama´s second book, a first-person memoir/ policy brief published in 2006 titled The Audacity of Hope, Obama´s 1995 memoir Dreams from My Father had emerged as the sacred text in the cult of Obama "There is no underestimating the importance
Elect a Chicago community organizer (twice) as your president and you should not be surprised to find that all he is capable of is spewing propaganda and dividing us by personalizing attacks on those who oppose his grandiose, wildly impractical efforts at reshaping our lives to suit his sophomoric view of the good life. As the obvious failure of ObamaCare has become evident to all but his most blinkered cultists, Obama fell back this week on upping the propagandizing and deflecting attention from his failures with even more lies. His organizing arm OFA (Organizing for America) urged supporters to use this year´s
Those who wrote the PPACA legislation were much more brilliant than most conservatives have given them credit for. They have hidden a landmine in the way it all works that will ensure an eventual takeover of the entire health care industry by the government. Let me first clarify my professional interest. I have been a vendor of software and services to both insurance companies and providers, and therefore have a deep understanding of the health care industry and what the ACA will do to it. I do not work for any insurance companies or medical providers, nor do I own stock
MONTICELLO, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — A video recording shows the mayor of the Sullivan County municipality of Monticello in a heated confrontation after being arrested by his own police officers. (Snip) He was taken into custody after showing up to take a look at a serious car accident on Main Street. A volunteer firefighter noticed the mayor looked drunk, according to police, and notified law enforcement. Jenkins was arrested on the spot. In a video recorded at his own police headquarters, a man identified as Jenkins was shown seated in a chair with one hand handcuffed to a wall. During the first
If you think ObamaCare is bad, just wait till you hear the new "peace" agreement that is due to be imposed on the Middle East over the coming weeks. Even if it works, a giant if, it will make the world much more dangerous: 1. Iran will have nuclear weapons, or it will be balanced right on the edge -- within one month or less to make nukes. 2. Saudi Arabia and Egypt will go nuclear, to balance Iran. 3. America´s role as a guarantor of peace will be blown, crushed by Obama´s betrayal of Israel and the Arabs. America´s nuclear umbrella, which
New York — The anchor who might beat Bill O’Reilly gets her eyelash extensions applied one at a time, with tweezers and dabs of glue, about 90 minutes before showtime, right after a motorized gun sprays foundation over her face, neck, shoulders, collarbone and sternum, wiping out a galaxy of light freckles that spreads across her — Let me stop you right there. Photos of the day Uruguay legalizes marijuana, Kiev police pull back from protesters, aging U.S. prison population and more. Tuesday´s Photos of the day Would you write this way about a man? About O’Reilly himself? At least that’s what Megyn Kelly might ask at
In August 2013 I became very sick with what I thought was a cold. After a few days I lost vision in my left eye and I checked into the hospital. I soon found out that what I thought was a summer cold was actually Strep bacteria poisoning my blood stream. The bacteria blinded my left eye, ate a hole through my heart, caused five strokes on both sides of my brain and forced the removal of my prosthetic left knee. Dr. Lee was the surgeon assigned to perform open heart surgery. What was originally scheduled to last four hours ended
The health director who approved the release of President Obama’s birth certificate has died in a plane crash, Hawaiian officials said Thursday. Loretta Fuddy died after the Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft she was travelling on went down shortly after leaving Kalaupapa Airport at around 3:15 p.m. local time (10:15 a.m. ET) on Wednesday. The other eight people on board were rescued, Richard Schuman, president of Makani Kai Air, told NBC News early Thursday, adding that that there was no indication as to why the plane had crashed. Fuddy hit the headlines two years ago when she approved a waiver request allowing Obama to
Fox News host Megyn Kelly has made herself the center of a racial controversy by declaring that Jesus Christ and Santa Claus are white. On Wednesday night, Kelly was responding to an article by Slate writer Aisha Harris, who wrote an article entitled “ Santa Claus Should Not Be a White Man Anymore .” The popular news host told viewers of “The Kelly File,” her hit FNC program, “When I saw this headline, I kinda laughed and I said, ‘Oh, this is ridiculous. Yet another person claiming it´s racist to have a white Santa.’ And by the way, for all you kids
Views of the tea party are at all-time lows in a new poll, as primary challenges to establishment Republicans continue to heat up Washington. Just 30 percent of Americans view the tea party favorably in a new Gallup poll released Wednesday, the movement’s lowest point since Gallup began polling about it during its rise in 2010. Also in a first, a majority of Americans had an unfavorable view of the tea party, at 51 percent. Similar numbers of respondents described themselves as proponents or opponents of the tea party: Twenty-two percent identified themselves as tea party supporters, while 24 percent said they
Columnist Charles Krauthammer attacked new Obamacare rules unveiled by HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in a late Thursday conference call, saying the Obama administration is “approach[ing] banana republic lawlessness” by issuing the decrees. Krauthammer spoke with Fox News’ Bret Baier on a panel with Juan Williams and Judge Andrew Napolitano, as the three reacted to Sebelius’ new directives for insurance companies. “This is exactly a reaction to a deep understanding among Democrats that [Obamacare] is a train wreck,” he said. “And it’s a panic reaction. As the judge said, this is utterly lawless. This now approaches banana republic lawlessness.
WASHINGTON – It’s not exactly a ringing endorsement of the budget deal.“Embrace the suck,” House minority leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi told fellow Democrats Thursday morning, a source told Politico.“We need to get this off the table so we can go forward,” she added. It’s a way of telling her colleagues the budget deal negotiated with Republicans is the best they can get. Democrats are fuming that the bipartisan budget deal doesn’t extend unemployment benefits for more than a million Americans. One of Pelosi’s top lieutenants, Rep. Chris Van Hollen, the top Democrat on the House Budget Committee, said Thursday it
