Former Gov. Jim McGreevey’s life is about to get the HBO treatment. The premium network later this month will air a documentary called "Fall to Grace" on McGreevey’s resignation as governor and his “redemption and transformation” while studying to become an Episcopal priest and working to help female inmates, according to a press release from HBO. It’s honest,” McGreevey said today in a phone interview. The film, which will first air on Thursday, March 28, is directed by Alexandra Pelosi – daughter of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
Comments: This has puff (poof?) piece written all over it.
I wonder if Ms. Pelosi will include his NJ Turnpike tea bagging sessions with strangers, how he appointed his unqualified homosexual lover to be the director of the state Homeland Security Division to buy his silence or how he humiliated his poor innocent wife before the entire nation?
Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield said it will not renew any small group or individual health plans that were set to expire after this year, despite receiving permission to do so by New Jersey’s insurance regulator. In a statement, Horizon said it was impossible to issue new health plans under a tight time frame before the end of the year. "Horizon BCBSNJ has been working to implement the Affordable Care Act for the past three and a half years, and undoing our work and essentially creating new plans in three weeks has proven to be impossible," said Thomas Rubino, the insurer’s director
U.S. Rep. Albio Sires (D-8th Dist.), who immigrated to the United States from Cuba as a child, today slammed President Obama for shaking hands with Cuban President Raul Castro at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service in South Africa. “I was disappointed to view the handshake between President Obama and the Cuban dictator Raul Castro at what was a moving service to memorialize Nelson Mandela,” Sires said in a statement. Sires is an outspoken critic of the Cuban government. When Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) — another Cuban-American — was going through a series of scandals early this year, Sires suggested that the controversy could
New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez popped the question to girlfriend Alicia Mucci in the Capitol Rotunda Monday. Menendez, who has two children from his first marriage, celebrated his engagement at the White House Congressional Ball, hosted by Joe Biden since President Obama traveled to South Africa for Nelson Mandela´s funeral. The news was first reported by Politico´s Mike Allen but Tuesday morning, Menendez took to Twitter to thank "my family & friends for their love & congrats." Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) was among those who passed on their good wishes on Twitter. Please spell out source
On the day of Nelson Mandela’s death the South African Communist Party chose to reveal a fact that it had long denied: that he was a party member. Indeed, at the time of his arrest he was on the Central Committee. The statement read: "At his arrest in August 1962, Nelson Mandela was not only a member of the then underground South African Communist Party, but was also a member of our Party´s Central Committee... After his release from prison in 1990, Cde Madiba became a great and close friend of the communists till his last days." Commenting on this revelation,
A Delaware bankruptcy judge has approved court documents outlining a sale process for failed electric-vehicle maker Fisker Automotive The judge on Tuesday granted interim approval of Fisker´s description of its bankruptcy plan and the process for creditors to vote on it, although he expressed concerns about the quick pace with which the case was moving. Attorneys for the committee of unsecured creditors said they agree with the current case schedule. Anaheim, Calif.-based Fisker, which had planned to build cars in Delaware, filed for bankruptcy protection last month, ending a long downward spiral after receiving a $529 million loan commitment from the U.S.
Obamacare realities just became a little more intense in the Bluegrass State. Requirements in the Affordable Care Act presented Kentucky Dr. Stephen Kiteck with obstacles he “just couldn’t overcome.” This tweet helped uncover the story: Dr. Kiteck verified the ad to Townhall Tuesday: “It’s pretty basic really. The reason is that Obamacare requires electronic medical records and electronic prescribing and I simply don’t have the finances at this time to go into debt to provide that for my office, it would just be a complete new transfer of electronic equipment in my office for that. So for me, at my age, I’m just not
Former President Jimmy Carter told NBC News on Monday that he places Nelson Mandela alongside Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr. and Mother Teresa as exemplars of inspiration and moral virtue in world history. In an interview with Brian Williams from Johannesburg, the 39th president said that Mandela belongs among figures to be looked upon “with a great deal of admiration.” “They weathered very difficult times, they came through with flying colors, they inspired other people,” Carter said. “I think that Nelson would go down in history as one of the leading people of the century.” Carter is in South Africa to attend a
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
