Washington - Vice President Joe Biden says Americans don´t need semi-automatic weapons to protect their homes because a couple of blasts from a shotgun will scare off intruders. The vice president encouraged those worried about defending themselves to buy a shotgun. He was speaking Tuesday in an online video as part of a Facebook Town Hall hosted by Parents Magazine on the administration´s strategy for reducing gun violence. Biden says he keeps two shotguns and shells locked up in a metal safe in his home. He said he's told his wife, Jill, that if she needs to protect herself,

Aren´t we all amazed about how much the Democrats claim to know about which firearms are best to use to defend one´s family?

And how about the Dem who argued that a whistle should be fine?

I thought we were supposed to use scissors...

Shut up, Joe. The 2nd Amedment is not about keeping burglars away...and it is not about hunting or skeet either! It is to protect us from tyrants like you.

Can I give a" couple of blasts from a shotgun" if I see Joe Biden approaching my house?

I´ve known for many years that the best way to clear a house of unwanted late-night visitors is the sound of a pump shotgun (which some dems want to outlaw as an assualt weapon) being primed. No news here Joey. Move along quietly now.

Americans need guns to defend themselves against gov´t tyranny, politicians and criminals.

And we can use the guns for collections, target shooting and hunting too.

Reply 9 - Posted by: bugboy, 2/19/2013 5:20:40 PM     (No. 9185496)

The 2nd amendment does not regulate the types of guns a person can own. The courts and federal government have taken it upon themselves the right to define the types of guns Americans can own.

If I could own a machine gun, without the tax and giving away my rights, for home defense I´d have one.

"The problem is, shotguns are difficult to conceal in a shoulder holster or a belt holster."

- Also, unlike a pistol or an AR carbine, they are difficult to use in a confined space (such as the closets and bathrooms the political elites would have use compelled to retreat to before using a firearm in the face of attack). Of course, there is a shotgun that is ideal for close-quarters, the sawed-off shotgun, but I doubt Clueless joe is calling for folks to buy those. . .

This would be our ´national treasure´ of a developmentally crippled individual in a position of ´power´.

Who, not surprisingly - is stupid enough not to know that a pump shotgun with double-ought buckshot could have wiped out exponentially more kids at Newton than those pesky large capacity clips.

Do they not give even basic intelligence tests to people running for public office?

KelTec has a new line of shotguns, with a short barrel. The 15 round model has dual tube magazines and a laser site, perfect for use from the closet. With the short barrel it´s easy to pump. You can scare off a lot of intruders with one.

I´d like someone in the police department to comment on the wisdom of sticking a shotgun outside the window and shooting in the air. Is it safe for the neighbors? Will it provide invaders with your position and draw return fire? What are your chances of being prosecuted for endangering a would be criminal?

Reply 27 - Posted by: stablemoney, 2/19/2013 6:24:02 PM     (No. 9185598)

If Jill needs to protect herself, she must go to the safe, remember the combination, try it until the safe will open, get the shotgun out, load the shotgun, go the balconey (we are not told which floor the safe is on), and fire two rounds (we are not told the gauge, or if Jill might need shoulder pads). That will protect Jill from intruders, assuming they are accomodating and not hurrying her.

Actually, for home defense, a shotgun is also my weapon of choice.

I have other people in my home besides me and one thing I truly worry about is not knowing where everyone in the house is, in case an assailant breaks in.

A shotgun will do the most damage when the intruder is between me and the unknown WITHOUT the spray being able to travel through walls or very far through the air. It´s a deadly weapon against an intruder at close range and much safer for my family members in other places in the house.

A shotgun is a fine choice for home protection, but it is not the government´s choice to make. It´s my choice.
These communists don´t get it. We don´t need people who have no skills other than professional lying telling us what we can and cannot have or do.

I´ll consider deferring to Biden on issues of firearms and home protection, as soon as he shows some indication that he has a higher IQ than a dinner roll.

So if Crazy Joe says all we need for home protection is a shotgun, odds are good that he´ll be saying something else stupid tomorrow.

But Joe, can you please provide a "shotgun in every pot" social program for those that can´t afford a shotgun of their own???

Go to Youtube, look up Taurus Judge and get a 30-some minute video of what it can do. (It´s the pistol that shoots 410 shotgun shells mentioned above.) At close range, well, I wouldn´t want to be on the receiving side of it!

A shotgun is great for home defense, but don´t fall for the Hollywood crap that you don´t need to aim one. At close distances, the shot doesn´t have time to spread out very much. From across a room, the shot spread is only going to be a few inches across.

Reply 37 - Posted by: NYbob, 2/19/2013 7:58:25 PM     (No. 9185717)

Fine advice from the big mouthed bully. Shoot both barrels of a double shotgun randomly because you ´think´ you heard something and are afraid. Now you are outside your house with an empty weapon. About the level of expertise I would expect from this elderly punk. At least one violation I can think of for most neighborhoods. Definitely one where they live.

Could be worse. You could be assigned bodyguard duty for his wife.

Reply 38 - Posted by: Blue-Z-Anna, 2/19/2013 7:59:43 PM     (No. 9185719)

Like so many other things, if the Taurus "Judge" .410-.45 is illegal in California then you know it must be good.

BTW- They call it the "Judge" because it is the weapon of choice to be carried beneath the "Robes" of many judges.

Nomesain ?

Stupid advice from Biden.

If you´ve fired both barrels, your target better be DEAD because you´re out of shells and he´s going to KILL you.

You rack the pump for a warning. Don´t pull the trigger if you don´t have a target.

Thanks Joe but I think I´ll keep my Glocks and my two Rotweillers. Instead of scaring intruders off, I intend to let the dogs teach them a life lesson. If they still don´t get it my guns are not locked up, they are loaded and since we are an empty nest, in a place that´s easy to get to.

Former Rep. The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”

Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.
