A Secret Service dog tragically fell to its death Saturday night in New Orleans while doing a security sweep of six-story building next a hotel where Vice President Joe Biden was hosting an event. The Belgian Malinois fell from the roof of a parking garage deck adjacent to the Ritz-Carlton where Biden was speaking at a fundraiser for U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu. The dog was working in the Premier Parking garage on Iberville Street near the French Quarter hotel blocks away from rowdy Bourbon Street when it fell off the roof around 6 pm Saturday night,

Certainly not a bright spot this am. Just a question? Where will this loyal and faithful servant be laid to rest? One hopes he will be offered better treatment than his brother who was refused proper burial (as reported earlier this week) If there are no dogs in Heaven, then it is not Heaven.

Too bad Biden wasn´t holding the other end of the leash when the dog went over the edge. Maybe Joe could have cushioned the dog´s fall.

I refuse to make the cheap jest, except to repeat all the above... As far as Biden goes, think of all the absurd ridicule Quayle, Ford, and Reagan endured, and then, when a true certifiable moron is in office, the MSM is dead, dead silent about his "gaffes" and idiotic fatuities. They are not "gaffes." They are Biden speaking what passes for his mind.

This was the fundraiser where Biden reportedly said that Mary ´Acorn´ Landrieu was the most bipartisan Senator he knew. I guess if you only vote the Obama agenda 98.5% of the time instead of 100%, you´re bipartisan.

I was a foster parent for one of the military working dog puppies a few years ago. They are fearless when it comes to heights...well...at least mine was. I had to watch him constantly when he was small. He loved to climb and jump.

He´s off protecting us now, somewhere.

As another poster mentioned, he was most likely working off leash, searching. Accidents happen. Remember, they are dogs. Yes they´re smart, but they can and do make mistakes.

Although I agree with the thought expressed by #19, I think there are at least 4 extra 9s on the low (right) end of his number. The number must also refer to gun owners licensed to carry concealed; other gun owners don´t have to be licensed -- yet.

I fully agree with #20. However, if Biden resigned, it´s unclear who´d replace him. Hard as it is to imagine, that replacement might be worse.

California’s unemployment rate is rotten and holding steady. In March, according to the Los Angeles Times, the rate was 8.1%. In February, it was exactly the same. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the state only added 11,800 net new jobs in March, many of them in construction, government, education, and health services. The greatest gains were in professional and business services, with 3,100 new positions. But the jobs numbers in hospitality, manufacturing, and leisure dipped, and the biggest drop came in financial activities, as the slowing rate of mortgages forced banks to fire employees. The field of finance

SCARBOROUGH, Maine- John C. Houbolt, an engineer whose contributions to the U.S. space program were vital to NASA´s successful moon landing in 1969, has died. He was 95. Houbolt died Tuesday at a nursing home in Scarborough, Maine, of complications from Parkinson´s disease, his son-in-law Tucker Withington, of Plymouth, Mass., confirmed Saturday. As NASA describes on its website, while under pressure during the U.S.-Soviet space race, Houbolt was the catalyst in securing U.S. commitment to the science and engineering theory that eventually carried the Apollo crew to the moon and back safely. Democrats have a problem and everyone knows it. President Obama calls it a “congenital disease.” If they can’t control it, Obama could spend the final years of his presidency battling not only a Republican House but also a Republican Senate. Democrats don’t vote in midterm elections. That’s an exaggeration, of course, but the core of the Democratic coalition is made up of many people who turn out to vote only in presidential elections. The Republican coalition — older and whiter — suffers less from midterm falloff. So much has been made of the building blocks the president assembled to win his

Tens of thousands gathered for a weekend of Colorado cannabis-themed festivals and entertainment, from a marijuana industry expo called the Cannabis Cup at a trade center north of downtown, to 4/20-themed concerts at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater — acts include Slightly Stoopid and Snoop Dog — to a massive festival in the shadow of the state capitol where clouds of cannabis smoke are expected to waft at 4:20 p.m. MDT Sunday.

The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. The Wall Street Journal reports that a red fox has been causing chaos around the White House, tripping security alarms, digging up Michelle’s garden and distracting the president from his duties. The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls.
