Those who push the Second Amendment sometimes forget that phrase "a well regulated militia". That does not imply 2 year olds. That does not imply psychotic individuals or people with Alzheimers. There are limits under the Second Amendment. The challenge is to define those limits in ways that do not abridge the rights of the many, but keep weapons out of the hands of the few who cannot reliably be entrusted with them.

It´s time to use the arguments of the left. The second amendment is SETTLED LAW. They love to use that phrase with the abortion issue. It means the issue is closed. Try using the term "settled law" with a liberal and when they squirm ask them if they feel the same way about abortion rights. Alinsky tactics can be used both ways.

With ~300 million guns in circulation, there´s nothing the government can do to keep guns out of the hands of the few crazies that won´t abridge of the rights of the many. Better to be free and prepared to stop the crazies in their tracks when they show themselves.

Exactly. If you start talking about hunting and recreation, you´ve already given away the store. The lefties, who talk about how "militia" only means militia, not individuals, are overlooking what it really means -- it´s our protection against what they want government to be.

The nut jobs are not always evident right away. Our only viable option is to be able to respond immediately when they do become evident.
Sadly, some people will become victims. Either they were in the wrong place at the wrong time, or maybe because they relied on the government to protect them. Is freedom worth the loss of life? Was it worth it in 1776? 1812? 1861? 1919? 1941? A couple dozen other dates? Are we to the point that freedom is no longer worth the price?
I don´t think so.

The 2nd ammendment is not at all about hunting but if the tryannical left keeps it up.........

The left keeps pretending two things (and that is exactly what it is a deliberate pretense). First, that the Second is about hunting and second, the right to bear arms springs forth from the Constitution due to the Second Amendment. The express purpose of this is to prevent the public dialogue from ever coming to the core of the issue. The Second was put in to preserve the natural right of a free people to defend themselves against tyranny. WHEREVER it might come from.
All patriots and freedom lovers should keep hammering on this and...JOIN THE NRA.

Re: #1 - "Those who push the Second Amendment" were actually the same folks who pushed the first 10 amendments, known as the Bill of Rights. That BoR includes the First Amendment, which protects your psychotic rants as you point the finger at those whom you cynically wish to portray as crazier than thou. The "pushers" had come out of a bloody revolution where loyalties had been divided within the former colonies, often pitting neighbor against neighbor. For folks of your ilk, the challenge is to find enough red herrings to distract a populace being criminally disarmed so as to ease the imposition of progressive rule. Nothing in the proposed disarmament policies pushed by your fellow travelers is meant in the least to have a positive impact on violent crime. We all know that so quit pretending otherwise. The degree of resistance you will encounter as a usurper of a fundamental, if not bedrock foundational citizen right, will be shocking.

The phrase in the 2nd Amendment that is ignored the most is "shall NOT be infringed". Not "unreasonably infringed" or "subject to common sense infringement". I think that Scalia meant that if one person could carry (bear) something, it would be constitutional.

I´m still waiting for someone from the Ruling Class to explain exactly how disarming law-abiding citizens could possibly make us safer.

Unless, of course, "us" refers to the highly paid, above-the-law jackbooted government thugs the Ruling Class uses to enforce it´s tyranny and/or violent, predatory common criminals.

If the ruling classes want to take our guns away from us, we should tell them we will give the up just a soon as THEY give up THEIR armed security guard´s guns. And that includes the secrect service persons. Only the military is to be allowed to have guns. And then, only when they are sent into combat.

The death of 20 children and 6 adults is tragic; but they had all experienced love before going to God. But the 23,000 children murdered each and every week, unloved and unwanted, is even more tragic. I weep, but no longer pray, for this Nation.

It would have been better had a few teachers or administrators had been armed. Many fewer would have died at this Monster´s hand. But Monsters will always be with us, and we should be prepared.
