Take a hike, Mark. You abandoned us once, do it again.

If the man was fed up with his wife, he could have divorced her in the conventional way and the public might have forgiven him. None of us are perfect. But to bug out in the way that he did is unforgivable.

It´s only fair to recognize that this election will be determined by the voters in South Carolina. I, for one, as an outsider am going to follow this story with keen interest. I am impressed with the fact that Mr. Sanford went down and discussed his running with his ex-wife, and with his sons who are now in college. I think it helps to remember that he is not a serial philanderer - and that he intends to marry the woman with whom he had the affair. Bill Clinton is now a most popular Democrat, and I don´t ever recall his ever making a sincere apology. Humility and grace are admirable, and I detect them in Mark Sanford.

It is also fair to recognize, Sanford went off ´hiking´ the Appalachian Trail.
Contrary to South Carolina law, he left nobody in charge and his whereabouts were unknown.
This South Carlinian will exercise his rights to help ensure Sanford takes another hike.

What I want to know is who would give this fool money to run for office. He´s damaged goods - find someone else.

I would hate to have some posters on a jury whereby I was the defendant. When one looks at human beings who are imperfect and expect perfection, one tends to lose mercy and balance. Yeah, knowing many of the facts, as a state resident, I would give Sanford another chance. His policies were Tea Party-like. His very awkwardness in his betrayal shows his inexperience, unlike smooth Bill Clinton who raped women and yet is to be honored as "Father of the Year. I´m afraid Republicans can never get a pass on sinning.

#4, Mr A and I live in Tim Scott´s former district. According to polling results Mark Sanford stands a very good chance of winning the election. His swift action as Governor which resulted in significantly lower property taxes for our county has not been forgotten.

His ex-wife lost most of any sympathy she had from folks around here after she wallowed in a prolonged no-holds-barred, undignified and unnecessary approach to the media. Then there was her "tell-all" book Staying True, described by one reviewer with the words "cathartic," "vengeful" and "smoking martyr" standing out. I wonder if the couple´s four sons have read it and what effect it´s had on them, especially the younger ones. She cared nothing for her sons´ feelings, only for her own satisfaction in taking her revenge. She served it hot, definitely not cold.

Except for his initial emotional outburst, Mark Sanford has kept silent--and Jenny Sanford should have followed his example.

A and I will be voting for Mark Sanford.
