To judge from his surly demeanor and defiant words at his press conference Monday, Barack Obama begins his second term with a strategy to defeat and humiliate Republicans rather than a strategy to govern. His point-blank refusal to negotiate over the debt ceiling was clearly designed to make the House Republicans look bad. But Obama knows very well that negotiations usually accompany legislation to increase the government´s debt limit. As Gordon Gray of the conservative American Action Network points out, most of the 17 increases in the debt ceiling over the last 20 years have been part of broader measures.
Obama´s stance is why it´s important for Republican leadership to declare, "well, the president has decided to rule more like a King, as if it´s his way or the highway. He´s not acting reasonable, or rational. His position is dangerous position, and I don´t believe the overwhelming majority of Americans support the liberal / progressive agenda of this president".
His alleged time in the ivory tower is as mythical as Tao´s dead girlfriend. He is a bully, a punk with a narcissistic personality disorder, and a brain long addled with illegal drugs. Nothing more. I would rather see Chester Arthur come back to life and unseat the kenyan klown.
I think Obama wants to be perceived as tough and firm - which he isn´t - but he will cave and backtrack in a minute if there is the slightest sign of a resistance that the MSM can´t repel with devious reporting.
The readers of this column have been aware for a long time that what we have here is a shallow, maladjusted, narcissistic sociopath who has raised self centeredness to an art form. If such an individual can say "They knew what I am yet preferred me to your candidate". With that perceived validation, all bets are off. We are in for a devil of a ride.
Here´s the unspeakable truth: Obama THINKS that this is governing.
Conditioning is still the most powerful force in shaping a mind and it´s still the best predictor of events.
He spent his formative years in foreign lands with tinpot heads of state. He attended university in areas where statism was viewed as normal and natural, and he lived/held office in Chicago - ´nuff said.
Too many - including the so-called voices of reason on the right - still believe that Obama is the same old Democrat, just a little more liberal. Or, they believe he is a Manchurian Candidate, a ´sleeper´ carrying out the wishes of others. Wrong again. He may have been influenced by some very evil people but his mission and his outlook are his own and they involve the personal destruction of anyone who disagrees, even on trivial subjects.
Obama will not negotiate and will probably continue to get his way 100%. The cry baby with his poor leadership has lost control of the house - the only body which could conceivably stop Obama. Miss Nancy is winning the votes with the help of a few republican defectors. She is effectively the speaker again. The spending will continue until the collapse of the currency which will be sooner rather than later. When they start printing the trillion dollar bank notes be sure to put Obama´s picture on them.
Obama´s attempts at playing the role of President are beginning to look more and more like a summer stock production of "I, Emperor Heliogabalus". In a way, though, it´s all to the good that he´s mostly concentrating on image, message, and presentation, however hammy. With his political agenda, imagine what an even worse mess our poor country would be if he and the rest of the Comrades were really competent.
"Ironic to me that the same Republicans who want to toss Colin Powell out of the party because he doesn´t share 100% of their views are offended that Obama can´t abide views he doesn´t share. Pot, meet kettle."
Ironic to me that the same posters continually bash us conservatives on a conservative site because we don´t share 100% of their views.
Gosh, I miss Photoonist and the Marine Captain......
He´s never had to work for anything in his life. He´s never had to enter the give and take, the compromise, the exchange of views. Everyone´s always given him everything. In return, he pontificates. Being challenged is not part of his worldview. He´s like an affirmative action pharaoh.
The Republicans do not need to wake up and understand that Obama intends to destroy anyone who disagrees with him. They are already awake and they fear his power to destroy. If you were standing in front of him shouting STOP would you be very confident of survival? The people who voted him in are still with him and Democrat office holders still support him because the most important thing to them is to stay in power.
In addition to all the traits mentioned previously, Obozo never seems to miss an opportunity to work in the idea that "I won" over and over again. I really believe that he thinks that winning the election gives him the right to rule, not govern, the nation as he sees fit. And don´t bother bringing up any other point of veiw. It´s simply is not to be considered. And has anyone else noticed that all of his "gun control" measures and just "common sense"? Does that mean if you don´t agree with him, then you don´t have any common sense?

Mr Obama is an unruly child that has tantrums when he does not get his way..Congress must act like the Parent and discipline Obama´s tantrums. They need to be strong and not pass any more and defend Our Constitution.
Hand wringing on ´what are we to do?´ The low-hanging fruit is entertainment. No boycott but each of us on our own make resolve to not partake in vids, dvds, cinema-going, dnloads and w/in 6 months calls will be made and visits arranged. I think things would change and/or certain figures ´moved out´ like Klingman...
It´s been shown that libs don´t have to govern or lead, just demonize the opposition. The press will give you at least 50% approval and cover up any scandals. We conservatives evidently have more racist code words than I knew. All is rosy.
And boy does it show...and he is teaching America´s young people how to be a "sore winner", oh those sour grapes sure are SOUR! I mean from observing his bizarre and intellectually immature behavior, you would swear that he actually lost the election...well did he?
Regarding the article, I´m growing weary of reading about Obama´s detrimental effects on our nation and, consequently, our lives. What I´d like to see is an organized, articulate opposition to his destructive words and actions. He needs to be stopped. He can do a lot of damage in four years if the republicans continue to fold. It´s way past the time for our representatives to truly represent our interests.
A stunning new study unveiled on Fox News´ Hannity finds that President Barack Obama’s White House calendar records just one face-to-face meeting between Obama and his Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in the more than three-and-a-half years leading up to the disastrous Obamacare launch. The startling statistic comes from a new Government Accountability Institute (GAI) analysis of Obama’s own official White House calendar, as well as the Politico presidential calendar, and raises new questions about Obama’s executive leadership and management throughout the implementation of his singular legislative achievement. More alarming still, the president’s schedule lists 277 private
One of President Obama´s chief political assets has been his ability to excite young people like almost no politician in history. But the days of America´s youth fawning over the president are over. A new Harvard University Institute of Politics poll released Wednesday confirms what other surveys have shown in recent months: Millennials have soured on Obama so much this year that their opinion of him largely mirrors the American public´s. Even though Obama does not ever have to face another election, he should be worried about the findings for a couple of reasons, which we will dive into momentarily.
Today President Obama announced to an audience at the far-left Center for American Progress that he will spend the remainder of his term in office focusing on income inequality. He began by saying that middle-class Americans are struggling, and the American Dream is threatened. He is right. Statistics on the White House’s own web site indicate that since Obama took office, median family income has fallen, per capita income has dropped, and millions of Americans have been plunged into poverty. But Obama is like a weatherman: he takes no responsibility for the disasters he describes. No one, not even a
It’s been a rotten several weeks for the mainstream media. MSNBC Alec Baldwin lost his job after calling a photographer a “c***sucking f*g”’; now he’s been followed to the scrap heap by Martin Bashir, who said someone should “p*ss” and “s***” in Sarah Palin’s mouth. CNN, meanwhile, is cutting back on its news content and instead focusing on entertainment-oriented content like Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. “We also want to broaden what people can expect from CNN,” boss Jeff Zucker says, explaining that the network needs “an attitude and a take.” Online, it’s been a tough week for outlets like BuzzFeed
Former President Bill Clinton, who prodded President Obama last month to keep his promises on Obamacare, said Tuesday that the political damage for Democrats from the flawed law will be “minimal.” “I believe that if the computer problems are all fixed, and it’s up and running by — and healthy in the next several weeks, I think that the damage will be minimal,” Mr. Clinton told interviewer Jorge Ramos of Fusion. “It’s getting better. I think it’ll be fixed by — in the next few weeks. If it’s worked through, I think within four or five months people will be
Sen. Marco Rubio is making a push this week to burnish his foreign policy credentials and establish gravitas on the world stage ahead of a possible 2016 presidential run, traveling to London to deliver a major policy address and meet British leaders. At a time of vigorous debate within the Republican Party about the United States’ global role, the first-term senator from Florida is articulating a worldview that places him neatly between the GOP’s tea-party-led isolationist wing and its more established interventionist wing. Speaking at the Chatham House think tank in London on Tuesday, Rubio paid homage to the “special
President Obama on Tuesday embarked on the difficult task of persuading Americans to reconsider his landmark health-care law after its botched launch, imploring people to sign up as part of a major push to publicize the benefits of the Affordable Care Act. Republicans immediately lampooned the effort — coming more than three years after passage of the law and two months after its disastrous rollout — and conservative activists vowed to wage a counterassault publicizing the law’s downsides. But Obama and his Democratic allies expressed confidence that they were finally turning the corner after severe technical issues hobbled HealthCare.gov, the
President Obama will cast growing income inequality and a decline in economic mobility as a “fundamental threat to the American dream” during a speech Wednesday in Washington. The speech will serve as an early preview for next year’s State of the Union address, according to a White House official, who said Obama would focus much of his energy over the next three years on the issue. “The decisions we make over the next few years will determine whether or not our children will grow up in an America where, if you work hard, you can get ahead,” the official said.
Good stuff from Jonathan Turley at today’s House hearing on executive power, although I regret that I couldn’t find a more user-friendly format for you to watch. There’s no compilation clip; you’ll have to make do with the C-SPAN embed by fast-forwarding to the time cues I give you and being patient while the vid buffers (and buffers, and buffers).(Snip)That brings us to point two: Even if Congress can’t stop Obama, the courts can. The problem there, though, says Turley, is that O and the DOJ have argued successfully in many cases that no one has standing to sue him
Bill Clinton, the cliché goes, was the first black president, no matter his skin color. That being the case, Barack Obama is not the first black president, or the first African-American president, if you prefer, but the first hippie president. Clinton’s southern background and lifestyle were indeed more typically black, just as Obama’s was more typically hippie. And we’re not just talking about the “Choom gang” here, scarfing “Maui Wowie” on the sands of Oahu. We’re talking about all of it, the whole multi-culti-missing-white-mother-vanished-Kenyan-father-anti-imperialist-America-is-always-the-enemy-and-don’t-you-forget-it-nine-yards. And like most hippie culture as I knew and experienced it, it wasn’t about “peace and love.” Not
During a presentation at the White House in which President Barack Obama touted the benefits of the Affordable Care Act, the president declared that his signature health care reform law was not going to be repealed. This assertion led his administration members, his staff, and audience members to rise from their seats and give the president a standing ovation. Obama said that ACA opponents’ alternative to the health care reform law is to champion repeal and going back to the health care delivery system status quo ante. He specifically cited Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) who he said was asked directly for
A woman has revealed how difficult it is to eat healthily and stay full when living off an average food stamp budget. Melinda Moulton, from Huntington, Vermont, was one of 200 people to take part in the 3Squares Challenge, which saw her living for a week on just $36 worth of food, or around $1.71 a meal. Opting to try and eat as healthily as possible, Ms Moulton resorted to cheap foods like yogurt for breakfast, two handfuls of peanuts for lunch and lentil stew for dinner, all of which left her unsatisfied.´I don´t know how people do it,´ said
[Video] President Obama on Wednesday declared that addressing income inequality would be the focus of “all” of the White House’s efforts “for the rest of my presidency.” In a sweeping address that touched on raising the minimum wage, investing in infrastructure and ending tax breaks for the wealthy, Obama warned that the American economy has become “profoundly unequal,” declaring economic mobility the “challenge of our time.” “The combined trends of increasing inequality and decreasing mobility pose a fundamental threat to the American dream, our way of life, and what we stand for around the globe,” he said in an hour-long
Just over two weeks ago, MSNBC host Martin Bashir delivered a harsh piece of commentary that culminated in the suggestion that someone should “s-h-i-t” in former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin‘s (R-AK) mouth. Bashir offered an abject apology on his next broadcast, but a chorus of critics continued to demand action against the host. After a reported “vacation” for the host earlier this week, Bashir announced, Wednesday afternoon, that MSNBC and Martin Bashir are parting ways. Here’s the statement from Martin Bashir, via email: After making an on-air apology, I asked for permission to take some additional time out around the Thanksgiving holiday. Upon
