| A brief update from a Republican Insider fighting to renew conservative principles and defeat the globalist Big Government liberalism of Barack Obama and his supporters. (Snip) Last week the president was ready to go all in on the executive order scenario. Confiscation was going to be in play. Then the backlash came and it forced Obama to back off. He didn’t want to but after Reid said it was a no go, and the NRA was preparing to go to war with the White House, the president was given a revised script and that is what we heard this morning.

Comments: Today, Constitutional conservatives triumphed . . . we prevailed! And the strutter’s oratory was a tale, told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Doesn´t it make you proud to have a spoiled man-child as President? One can only hope the "won" goes far enough to procede with impeachment.

FTA: This time WE WON and OBAMA LOST.
Agree, this was a punt. The 23 rules are nothing-burgers. The $500 million program is at the mercy of a rebellious House (and Senate). Let´s hope that ´´Immigration Reform´´ goes so well (Hint: it won´t).

Problem is, OP, that they´ll try again "tomorrow". Many of us thought 60´s radicalism was defeated by Reagan. Like a Grade C movie zombie, it has risen again. This is no time for solace or complacency.

The problem is they will find another way to make legal gun owners, criminals. Just like NY state. Don´t kid yourself, there are legions of vile sheeple who hate anyone who has the means and the will to defend themselves. The sheeple mob has been trained and conditioned by a media that soaks them in gun porn their entire lives and then becomes pious about those evil guns. You are constantly equated with criminals. You will be legislated into a criminal by someone as vile as Cuomo. Then they will talk about confiscation.

This article needs to be posted/forwarded to all the people who were in the fight against Obamacare and got discouraged when it was rammed through. We need them to re-engage. Neither Obama nor his cronies are going to take this defeat graciously. For them, it was a declaration of war and things will get ugly.

I believe something similar happened at the begining of his first term. I had the very strong impression that ´they´ wanted to begin cracking down on guns and ammunition right out of the gate but they were put off by the unprecedented number of people who began stocking up on those items in 2008/2009. I think they decided that if they backed off a little they could position themselves for a major control push later on.
I bet this looked ideal to them; a new term, meaning no concerns about re-election, two or three prominent gun crimes with devastating results - they probably thought they had it in the bag with maybe just a few hitches.
Heh, zeitgeist and schadenfreude all piled up on top of each other. You gotta love it.

I was in a little diner in a little Pa. town yesterday for lunch. The only other customers were a table to very loud old ladies. Their conversation turned to gun control. They all agreed they hated guns, were scared of them, they never saw a need to own one, etc. Then the loudest of the bunch said she was going out to buy the biggest gun she could just because Democrats are trying to tell her she can´t have one! I nearly choked on my iced tea.
And in Maryland, the 5-day waiting period for a background check is up to two weeks because there are so many new people buying guns. I love it.
The article is right - Obama and his leftist fools don´t understand ordinary Americans.

The second suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings was taken into custody Friday night, bringing to an end a massive manhunt in the tense Massachusetts capital worried by warnings the man was possibly armed with explosives. After announcing the arrest on Twitter, Boston police tweeted: “Captured!!! The hunt is over. The search is done. The terror is over. And justice has won. Suspect in custody.” (Snip) Police were alerted to his whereabouts by a man who went outside after authorities lifted an order for residents to stay inside during the manhunt. There were few complaints at the Woodruff polls as South Carolina´s new voter photo ID requirement was enforced for the first time in Spartanburg County. The re-do election for mayor in Woodruff is the first Spartanburg County election since the photo ID requirement went into effect Jan. 1. The law requires voters to show a S.C. driver´s license, Department of Motor Vehicles ID card, voter registration card with photo, federal military ID or a United States passport to cast a ballot. (Snip) The law was passed in 2012 as a measure to combat voter fraud, according to proponents.

To the world beyond the Beltway, it might not mean much that Bob Woodward of the famed Watergate duo went public with his recent White House run-in. This would be an oversight. (Snip) Distrust of media, encouraged by alternative media seeking to enhance their own standing, has become a tool useful to the very powers the Fourth Estate was constitutionally endowed to monitor. When the president can bypass reporters to reach the public, it is not far-fetched to imagine a time — perhaps now? — when the state controls the message.

There are two stories circulating around Bob Woodward this morning. (Snip) But the White House also wanted the issue to disappear until after the election, so in conjunction with Congress it proposed (and the President specifically endorsed) an enforcement mechanism called sequestration. In exchange for agreeing to a package of $1.2T in cuts with no revenues as a failsafe, Republicans agreed to raise the debt limit high enough that it would not be reached until after the election. The significant point is that the trigger for sequestration was not the same date as the implementation date.

This just in from our Republican Insider, who has been very busy of late regarding the impending sequestration conflict that is being played out 24/7 by the Mainstream Media and the Obama White House. (Snip) Word of that compromise got out and reached the White House. I am guessing it was someone working for Reid who relayed that information. Regardless, it was the very next day that a staffer for one of the Senators working the compromise deal received word from Legislative Affairs to not under any circumstances continue to produce a compromise, or publicize any such deal.

In a very oddly worded public response to a question posed to him during an online interview, Barack Obama dances around the topic of using military drones to kill Americans inside of the United States. (Snip) First he begins his answer by stating, “There has never been a drone used on an American citizen on American soil.” Barack Obama doesn’t say there never will be – or that he never intends to do so…he instead chooses – deliberatly, to say that such a thing has not happened…YET.. The president then gets into the meat of his prepared statement

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement

While many Americans were tuned into news coverage of the massive damage from tornadoes ravaging the state of Oklahoma, Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse took to the Senate floor to rail against his Republican colleagues for denying the theory of anthropogenic global warming. Whitehouse spent 15 minutes chastising GOP senators and justified his remarks by alluding to states that seek federal assistance in the wake of natural disasters. “So, you may have a question for me,” Whitehouse said. “Why do you care? Why do you, Sheldon Whitehouse, Democrat of Rhode Island, care
