| Speaking at the Rev. Al Sharpton’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. luncheon, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said health insurance exchanges will be set up across the country, despite protests from many state leaders. “Right now, new health insurance market places are being set up in every state across the country,” Sebelius said. “And I gotta’ tell you, in spite of what your governor may be saying, that he or she doesn’t want to participate – the way the law is written, we will set up an insurance marketplace in every state in the country.”

Comments: Really? Un.be.lievable. King Barry and his regime are not to be deterred in their destruction of the country. Good luck with that. I´m sure the governors of the states have a different opinion.

Hate this woman. She´s funneled over $5B to 3rd parties over the last 3 years.. to be used converting abortion clinics into Health Care Centers, where you can have one stop shopping! Abortion, sterilization, euthanasia... whatever rocks your boat!

I know that the Constitution means nothing to this administration, but don´t the 9th and 10th Amendments prohibit this? Or is this a "tax" also?

Ya know what Sibelius, up yours!
Doctors should start doing their business the way they used to, by accepting cash payments directly from their patients for a discounted cost.

If the federal government sets up the exchange, they have to pay to maintain the exchange. In addition, the law says the subsidies for premiums are only available if the state set up the exchange. Finally, the penalties to business owners who don´t supply employees with insurance, don´t kick in if the state doesn´t set up an exchange. So who would buy government insurance if it doesn´t come with a subsidy? The federally run high risk pool costs twice per patient what any state high risk pool runs.

useful information #7
There seem to be several deficiencies which will plague federally run exchanges.
But Washington´s response will be the same as it always is. Toss money at the problems, bully, and issue more regulations. And blame others.

This is nothing but sebilius putting a happy face on a disastrous turn of events in the Roberts ruling. There´s no way the feds actually expected to have to set up federal exchanges in 30+ states. This is going to increase the cost of bureaucracy though the roof and they´ll never have the money or manpower to enforce it.All they´re doing is digging the hole deeper.
Insurance models have already been destroyed by incorporating the pre existing crowd. This is no different than allowing people to buy a million dollar life insurance policy the day after they get a terminal illness report.Pre-existing people should have just been moved to a government only pile and out of the private market.
Like everything else obama has done, there´s no real endgame in the poorly planned Obamacare. We´re going the end up spending more on paper pushers and not medical treatment.
I said back when obamacare passed,we´re going to paying for two bureaucracies at once. government and private sector paper pushers and administrators at the same time.It would have been cheaper to give people a debit card to pay for treatment, paid for with a VAT and medicare type payroll deduction.Employees would get raises since the employer would no longer pay for insurance premiums.
If the goal is to get to single payer, why waste trillions phasing out private insurance?Even allowing people to buy into medicare would have been cheaper than this.

The nation’s need for oil and the changing environment are enduring dangers, Vice President Joe Biden told graduates of the United States Coast Guard Academy Wednesday. Speaking at the New London, Conn., commencement, Biden said offshore drilling and the need to protect high-seas oil tankers threaten both the nation’s shorelines and environmental security. “You graduated in a world where our environmental security, our shorelines, our fisheries all are threatened by this country’s need to drill in deep seas and transport hundreds of billions of gallons of oil on the high seas,” Biden said.

During Tuesday’s hearing of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D., Calif.) declared that failing to encourage people to sign up for government-mandated health insurance is downright “un-American.” Speier was referring to Congress’s refusal to fund the Obama administration’s Obamacare “outreach” efforts with taxpayer dollars (although the administration will still be running lots of taxpayer-financed pro-Obamacare propaganda ads later this summer with money that it has managed to cobble together from various sources). It would appear that Speier’s view is shared by Secretary of Health and

It is the Washington way. Egregious misconduct surfaces, showcasing the militantly officious nature of bloated big-government bureaucracy. But the Beltway and the commentariat cry in unison for a special counsel, ensuring that the symptoms — a few corrupt bureaucrats — will get all the attention while the underlying cancer metastasizes. In the unfolding IRS scandal, we already know President Obama’s conservative political opponents were targeted for the revenue agency’s version of waterboarding. On cue, prominent Republicans and conservatives are starting to call for a special counsel — clearly under the misimpression that a “special counsel”

President Barack Obama and his family are reportedly interested in a Martha´s Vineyard vacation this summer in the Farm Neck area of the island, the Boston Globe reported today on its website. A source told the Cape Cod Times in March that the Obamas have firm plans to return this summer after skipping 2012, an election year. It would be the fourth time the first family has vacationed on the Vineyard. But the big question this year is where the family will stay. The first family spent past Vineyard holidays at the secluded, rented Blue Heron Farm in the

Days before Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan landed in Washington, D.C., for a series of high profile meetings, an influential liberal think tank with ties to the White House released a report that highlighted its cozy relationship with wealthy foreign benefactors from Turkey. The Center for American Progress (CAP) issued a report, “Freedom of the Press and Expression in Turkey,” on May 14 that critics say downplays the Turkish government’s increasingly authoritarian crackdown on press freedoms. CAP did not disclose in the report that it receives money from a Turkish business group named TUSKON.

Senate Democrats picked up some GOP reinforcements in their bid to get to a conference on a House-Senate budget agreement. Republican Sens. John McCain of Arizona and Susan Collins of Maine joined Budget Chairwoman Patty Murray, D-Wash., on the floor in support of going to conference without imposing special mandates on conferees. McCain objected to a bid by Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., to require that Senate budget negotiators not provide for an increase in the debt limit. Instead, McCain called for a more established process of offering nonbinding instructions.

Lois Lerner, the director of the IRS division that singled out conservative groups, invoked the Fifth Amendment Wednesday as she refused to testify at the start of a House oversight hearing on her agency´s controversial program. Lerner, before invoking that right, said in a brief opening statement that she had done nothing wrong, even though people might assume that by her decision not to answer questions from the committee. "I have not done anything wrong," she said. "I have not broken any laws. I have not violated any IRS rules or regulations, and I have not

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner, whose career in public life came to an abrupt end when he sent lewd pictures to a college student on Twitter, jumped back into politics on Wednesday by announcing a bid for mayor of New York City. “Look, I’ve made some big mistakes and I know I’ve let a lot of people down,” the Democrat said in a 2-minute video announcing his bid. “But I’ve also learned some tough lessons. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.
