| New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Monday urged President Barack Obama to make a recess appointment for the head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, as one of several steps that Obama can take to on gun control “without congressional approval at any time he chooses with just the stroke of a pen.” “The president can make a recess appointment to head the federal Bureau of Alcohol and Firearms. The ATF as it’s called hasn’t had a director for six years. Can you imagine how much outrage there’d be if we’d been without

These people would be screaming waving pitchforks if this was even discussed by a Republican president.
I fear for our republic.

Technically, congress is in session for the next few days, but Obama will probably wait till tonight and declare that congress is ´in recess´ and call it a recess appointment.

What a strange little man Mike Bloomberg is! Not content with becoming dictator of soft drinks, he´s gone national, pimping himself to head ATF! Given his track record that would likely mean NO alcohol, tobacco or firearms.
No thanks Mikey, I want someone who actually believes in the constitution and the will of the people!

We don´t need any more Waco´s, Ruby Ridges, or Fast and Furious gun running from the ATF. I think Congress had better assert its responsibilities before anything happens with ATF.

Mike Bloomberg should donate his body to science when the time comes for him to pay his debt to nature. Properly prepared and mounted, enshrined in a glass case, it could be placed in a museum with a placard beneath it reading CONTROL FREAK, 21st Century. For Mike Bloomberg is a nearly perfect specimen of the species, control freak. Self-righteous, dogmatic, meddlesome, egotistical and unwilling to take no for an answer, he thinks it is his job to mind other people´s business and to cause them to behave the way he wants them to - for their own good, of course. Like all major league control freaks, he sees himself as only trying to help. That people have neither asked for nor desire his help only goes to show him how desperately they need it.

The Senate voted down an amendment to the upper chamber´s immigration bill proposed by Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) that would require a full biometric visa tracking system placed at every land, sea, and air port of entry in the United States before legalized immigrants could receive green cards. The measure, which was also called for by the 9/11 Commission in the wake of the 2001 terrorist attacks, would establish a biometric exit-entry system. Gang of Eight member Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) told Breitbart News last week

The immigration reform bill drawn up by the Senate Gang of 8 would boost the economy and lower the deficit, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office says in a report out today. The newly released, and highly anticipated, report from the government’s nonpartisan bookkeeper comes as the Senate debates the bipartisan immigration legislation offered by the Gang of 8 and the House moves forward on a more piecemeal approach. The report, “The Economic Impact of S. 744, the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act,” says overall the legislation

NEW YORK — The New York Police Department´s widespread spying programs directed at Muslims have undermined free worship by innocent people and should be declared unconstitutional, religious leaders and civil rights advocates said Tuesday after the filing of a federal lawsuit. "Our mosque should be an open, religious and spiritual sanctuary, but NYPD spying has turned it into a place of suspicion and censorship," Hamid Hassan Raza, an imam named as a plaintiff, told a rally outside police headquarters shortly after the suit was filed in federal court in Brooklyn.

Mixed-race people are more likely to be considered black by conservatives, who are subconsciously attempting to “justify racial divisions,” said the authors of a new government-funded study. The report, originally released earlier this month, has begun attracting criticism from those who see political bias in the results. The study was conducted by graduate students and faculty in the psychology department of New York University. Researchers asked participants to look at pictures of mixed-race people and say whether they

The Clintons are getting the old band back together again for one last geriatric tour. Hillary 2016. Because 22 years of Clintons dominating the Beltway isn’t enough. Her campaign slogan: “Vote for me. I am a woman. What difference does it make?” The Draft Hillary movement is really taking off. There hasn’t been this much excitement behind a Draft Hillary movement since, well, the last time there was a Draft Hillary movement. Remember that? Back in 2008? When she was the “inevitable nominee?” She was the “most electable” Democrat running? She was the only one who

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

As NewsBusters reported last week, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin called out vulgarian comedian Bill Maher for referring to her Down Syndrome son Trig as "retarded." On ABC´s The View Monday, co-host Barbara Walters astonishingly defended Maher saying, "I don´t think he intended it to be mean-spirited" (video follows with transcript and commentary): WHOOPI GOLDBERG: At a recent standup show in Las Vegas, comedian Bill Maher apparently called Sarah Palin’s five-year-old developmentally-challenged son Trig retarded. And Sarah blasted him on Twitter as a bully. Is that, is it, is he a bully? Is he a bad, what is he?

Jeb Bush says he’s not worried that his work toward comprehensive immigration reform and his ties to the GOP establishment will alienate conservatives and negatively impact a potential 2016 presidential campaign, referring to critics as “the chirpers.” “If I decide to run for office again, it will be based on what I believe, and it will be based on my record,” the former Florida governor said in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody. “And that record was one of solving problems completely from a conservative prospective.” Bush (R) pointed to his conservative

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.

It is understood that a contingency plan is in place for the unlikely event that an attempt would be made on the President’s life. The Secret Service also have diplomatic immunity which will allow them to shoot to kill a would-be assassin without fear of prosecution. As part of the “evacuation route” plan, they would be able to spirit the President by chopper to one of the carriers where a jet is on standby to take him back to the United States.
