Jesse Jackson was on America’s Newsroom today to discuss gun control. Jackson said assault weapons are a threat to national security. Jackson also said gun manufacturers should be held responsible for shootings.“These semi-automatic weapons, these assault weapon, can only kill people and in fact are threats to national security. The young man who did the killing in Aurora, Colorado with the arsenal he had. He was right near the airport, right near the runways near the airport in Denver. He could shoot down airplanes. so this is a matter of homeland security… We need to make manufacturers more accountable for their product.“

Comments:
Of course Jesse Jackson would say it´s the fault of gun manufacturers - far be it from him to blame his constituents who actually use these weapons - the vast majority of them obtained illegally - to commit crimes.

Rev. JJ knows where to put the blame....wherever the money is.
This shake-down artist ain´t no dummy. . . . . an immoral poverty pimp and unabashed bottom dweller - yes - dummy no.

While we´re at it, let´s make race baiters like Jackson & Sharpton responsible for racism.

Let´s make his son responsible for drunk driving in Chicago.

Well Reverend, then it´s the auto, drug, alcohol manufacturers that are responsible for all of the deaths by misuse of their products?

Obviously, the Reverend has never heard of Personal Responsibility has he?

Reply 5 - Posted by: viking diver, 1/14/2013 10:57:54 AM     (No. 9115581)

Yeah like the person pulling the trigger has no responsibility at all the gun made him do it.
We are deep in the age of no accountability the gimmie people have risen to a new high in lows

Sure, just as soon as they make cibbil rites leaders responsible for black-on-white crime.

Pssst. Jesse - your pals at the FBI note somewhere in the ´statistics´ area...

That *your* peeps - perhaps 15% of the general population...

Are popping off somewhere in the 80% area of foreign objects into (primarily) the bodies of other brothers...

So Jesse, what´s up with that? Your ´influence´ these days running more towards corporate extortion than giving that ol´ ´Reverendly´ type advice to the faithful? Can´t hold the bros responsible for their own behavior?

Go figure.

Speaking of REAL homeland security.... round up all those gangs roaming the streets and deport them to some deserted island and let them have their own country instead of ruining ours. But no... therevjj just wants a way to sue someone instead of blaming the depraved perps.

Reply 10 - Posted by: BaseballFan, 1/14/2013 11:15:09 AM     (No. 9115638)

Some logic. Using that approach, let´s jail all members of Congress and all presidents for the laws we have, because without those laws, there would be no law breaking.

The year 2013 looks promising for the "Reverend" Jesse L. Highjackson´s Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, as yet another "golden opportunity" for extortion on a vast scale presents itself.

Reply 12 - Posted by: pgvoisin, 1/14/2013 11:21:14 AM     (No. 9115657)

A gun thief breaks the law and steals a gun.
A gun thief murders school children.
A gun thief says "the gun manufacturor MADE me do it".

So the person pulling the trigger has NO responsibility?

How did the gun manufacturer pull the trigger, Jesse?

How?

On a related note, Quentin Tarantino said last night that drug laws are putting blacks in prison and that´s modern day slavery. This liberal sickness is deep and wide. I can´t relate to anything they say. What´s going on?

This guy is an idiot. That is like saying the automobile makers are responsible for individuals have automobile accidents. On the other hand, maybe Jesse thinks it is time to apply extortion to the gun manufacturers for some free money like he has done in the past.
It is time for the clown to get a real job.

This reminds me of a Section 8 housing complex in Minneapolis that was a breeding ground for criminals. The media, ´´community leaders´´, politicians, etc all blamed the building for the crime instead of the people living there. Solution: they tore down the building - problem solved!

Good idea, Jesse.
And let´s make black people pay reparations for the damage they have inflicted on American society, since they account for the greatest proportion of gun violence.

#17, Jesse has had paid personal armed body guards since the late 60´s which were supplemented by volunteers and local on/off duty police in each city he visited...he is skittish w/o armed guard and also liked the image of importance it conveyed, with his being one of the most patrolled Southside blocks over the years...JLJ was in his glory when Reagan gave him Secret Service protection early in his primary in 1984...

Despite having said here many times that arguing logically with hoplophobes [and of course race-baiters] is a Fool´s Errand, and I still hold that position, I´ll offer some stats to make sure a few facts are on the table. Exact numbers may vary, but are close, as it´s all from memory.

One black male in three will have a felony conviction during his life.

An identifiable group, young black males, comprising about 1.5% of the population of the country, is responsible for about 52% of all murders. 52% of all murders. Think about it -- if we found that, for purposes of this discussion, 1.5% of our population was immigrants from, oh, Madagascar, but committed 52% of all murders, would we have acted regarding that group? Hardly needs to be asked, does it?

Some 70% of all the counties in America had no murders last year. Didn´t know that one, didja? Surprised you, too, didn´t it?

We know the facts. We know the sources of the violence [more than just the numbers I mention, but the sick sub-culture behind them]. We know effective steps to take. We know there are far too many innocent victims. We know that honest taxpayers are being grotesquely put-upon as victims and with the huge costs of dealing with and not dealing with crime.

We had better start doing the right things in response, and soon.

Jackson has lived his life off the proceeds of extortion. Nothing new here.

#35...your post is an unintelligible string of a stats for which you give no citations, but even accepting your 1.5% figure, what is it you are proposing be done re the 35milliion Blacks because you allege within that pop the 1.5% account for 6,000 murders in 2010?

http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2010/crime-in-the-u.s.-2010/tables/10tbl20.xls

Reply 38 - Posted by: veritas, 1/14/2013 4:33:40 PM     (No. 9116290)

#37: Thanks for the questions.

a. "Unintelligible" seems misused.
b. I flatly stated in #35 that the numbers were from memory; further, academic citations are absent from essentially all posts on this site; last, running down sources is easier today than ever before if important to a reader.
c. #35 neither suggested nor proposed anything "be done with" 35 million black Americans, nor that anything should be. From #35: "An identifiable group... comprising about 1.5% of the population of the country, is responsible...." That´s a pretty clear statement that the perps are the problem, IMHO. #35 also pointedly mentions the contributory "sick sub-culture." That´s also clear reference to perps, particularly as those familiar with my posts know I don´t traffic in code words. #35 can and does make its points directly, as usual.

Thanks for the chance to re-examine #35, and to stand by it.

This is the portion of #35 resulted in my question:

"Think about it -- if we found that, for purposes of this discussion, 1.5% of our population was immigrants from, oh, Madagascar, but committed 52% of all murders, would we have acted regarding that group? Hardly needs to be asked, does it?"

Oh, how´s sonny doing?

President Obama’s re-election and Democratic gains in the US Senate end any possibility of repealing the Obama health law. It will roll out as written, imposing major changes soon on you and your family. If you are uninsured because you can’t afford it, help may be on the way. But if you are one of the 250 million Americans with coverage, there are big problems ahead. If you get your health insurance through a job, you might lose it as of Jan. 1, 2014. That’s when the new “employer mandate” kicks in, requiring employers with 50 or more full-time workers to provide the government-designed health plan or pay a fine. The government plan is so expensive, it adds $1.79 per hour to the cost of a full-time employee. That’s incidental if you're hiring neurosurgeons but a hefty increase for hiring busboys and sales clerks.

But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.
