Powell: GOP has ´a dark
vein of intolerance´

Politico, by Ginger Gibson

Original Article

Posted By:JoniTx, 1/13/2013 12:01:44 PM

While continuing to identify as a Republican, former Secretary of State Colin Powell on Sunday criticized the GOP for a series of racist attacks against President Barack Obama. "There´s also a dark vein of intolerance in some parts of the party," Powell said on NBC´s "Meet the Press." "What do I mean by that? What I mean by that is they still sort of look down on minorities." Powell, who endorsed Obama, pointed to a number of statements that were directed at Obama as evidence that there is still racism within the party.

Powell has no credibility and no honor. After what he did to Scooter Libby, he´s persona non grata with me.

But he´s a hero to the leftists for his dishonest commentary on race. What a pig. Someone needs to ask him how his first fancy house was financed in Virginia. You´ll find an Arab royalty if you dig just beneath the surface. He´s only ever been loyal to Colin Powell, the rest of America is "the little people".

There are few more intolerant than leftist ideologues. Why would a self-described Republican not know that? Didn´t realize how racist Colin Powell is and how bound by identity politics he must be.

Many Blacks are showing just how racist they are. Coming out of the closet, so to speak.
I think Powell is bitter because he KNOWS he got where he is by affirmative action and not merit.

Powell has not creditbility.
When asked back in 2008 what qualifications or credentials could he list for supporting obama, he basically had NOTHING. Ended up saying something about obama´s election being "historic". In other words, he was going to vote for obama because he was black - NOTHING ELSE ! (except for the unspoken fact that he and obama just happen to share the same SKIN color.)

That means that Powell is the RACIST - voting and supporting obama solely on the basis of their shared race. And like most / all racists he is PROJECTING his racist views on all republicans. Powell has gone from hero to ZERO in my book.

The man is dead wrong in his statements. There are many of us who absolutely abhor what has happened over the last four years and we could care less what color skin the people have that
were responsible. In fact, many informed and intelligent blacks feel the same way.

The race war has been simmering beneath the surface for many years. It´s about to boil over.

Powell, and people like him, either want it or are such morons that they don´t realize they are causing it.

If you could look behind the scenes, you´d probably find out that the mainstream media is writing his lines for him, just as they do vritually every democrat in the country. The MSM runs the show, not the democrat party as so many seem to think.

Communism creeps in slowly until all of a sudden it´s too late to stop it. And for those of you who think the New York Times is about to go belly up, think again. They will simply order the democrats to bail them out... and they will. Some Pubbies will go along, too.

A view on darkness from the quintessential lightweight. Has Powell ever said anything that doesn´t serve him first? If he had any value, you´d think a book would have been ghost written for him by now. Bottom line here, ambitious but weak minded.

How about Obama´s intolerance to wealth? He makes it out to be evil. Yet, I know some very wealthy people who are very gracious. So Colin Powell, did you forget about that intolerance of Obama´s toward the wealthy? That was what his whole campaign achieved.

Why would Powell even stay in such a party,
if it´s so racist ?
FTA- Regarding Gov Sununu , after the first debate describing Obama as lazy , Powell
said this was code for " shiftless ".
No..it´s an accurate description of Obama aka Laz- E.
Validated by his official daily schedule of two , sometimes three hr work days.
The golf, parties and long vacations.
His own admission to Damian Lewis, the star of Homeland, that he goes to the Oval Office
and " pretends "
to work , but, he watches tv , instead.
The 2008 interview to 60 Minutes just after the election, where Michelle said
she had to " make " Obama do chores.
That he had to be " forced " to wash dishes
and make " his " bed.
The October 2012 Vanity Fair article
that described all the hours he spends playing basketball each week that are never publicized.
But, most importantly, Obama himself has often
admitted that he´s lazy.
In " Dreams From My Father " on pages 94 and 95 he recounted a fight with his mother over his admitted laziness.
Obama told his mother he planned
on being lazy his whole life.
December 2011 interview with Barbara Walters :
"You know, it´s interesting. There is a deep down - underneath all the work I do
- I think there´s a laziness in me...it´s
probably from, you know, growing up in Hawaii..."
Obama is the Commander in Chief in wartime and during terrible economic times and his lack
of any type of work ethic makes his laziness pathological.

In both Obama and Powell I see racism, it´s just that they were both chosen by white people as well as blacks and so now they bit the hands of those who nurtured them, by creating class warfare between minorities and white people, if the GOP seems to have less of a plantation mentality for minorities it´s because they still believe in "freedom" in spite of their desperate gyrations to avoid being called racists by the stealthy race baiting, class dividing, gun grabbing socialist set in the Democrat party and some blacks who believe themselves the distributors of others hard earned money and goods. They do however believe in distribution to the other elites who support their filthy oppressive form of racist government.

Racist attacks against Obama? Really? Prove that assertion.

The problem is that the left has defined any disagreement with black liberation idealology and socialism as racist. They merely make the charge that republicans are racists, and the press reports it as fact.

As McCain, Hagel, Powell, and even John ("I served in Vietnam") Kerry prove: an honorable military record is helpful, but not determinate, in qualifying for civilian office. The former requires bravery, discipline, and duty. The latter adds requirements for vision, perspective, and intuition.

It´s obviously difficult for black people to rise above their blackness. It´s ingrained in them in most homes and communities where they are raised. And it´s promoted by most of the black community leaders, who continually tell their people that they are victims.

Powell is still guilt ridden over his UN presentation and he´s been trying to redeem himself with the left ever since. His endorsement of Obama in ´08 was a huge step.

I´m pretty sure Powell got most of his promotions under republican presidents so if they were racists, why would they do that?

The liberals simply don´t have the intellect to separate race from behavior.I´d be more than happy to see Col. West president.

#1 and #2 are right on the money. Colin Powell has always struck me as an egomaniac who needs ´everyone´ (well, almost) to love, admire, adore and worship him. He never ran for public office because he would have had to make tough decisions and take strong stands on issues. He much prefers strutting around and being seen at all the right parties and functions. He´s been on my "----" list as long as I can remember. Except for his military service, he´s a big zero in my book.

Sad day for America when a man needs to destroy someone else to make himself look good!

Wrong -mr powell - we have no respect for the President or for you, no matter what color you and he are. There are plenty of minority folks we DO have respect for, and they are not just blacks, starting with the governor of La. Bobby Jindal, an excellent official and person, and
a multitude of others of all ethnicities and races. You, Sir, are unfortunately a racist. and as a former military member, that is truly sad.

What Powell and the vast majority of Blacks don´t "get" is that the GOP is a party of ideas, not a party of buddies. I have listened to many Black leaders and pundits on various shows and most of them are frankly in la la land, nowhere near reality. So, NO, I can´t accept their ideas and I don´t want to be their buddy. When you don´t go along with the progressive herd, you are labeled ignorant.

Baloney.

I don´t need Powell´s approval to have different ideas than him and his progressive crowd and it doesn´t make me ignorant. I understand what they are talking about, I simply KNOW it is wrong. Not FEEL it is wrong, KNOW it is wrong.

On the other hand, the GOP does need to understand that if it wants to make any progress it needs to learn to craft a message that convinces enough of those that function through feelings and cliques to side with the GOP for elections. Right now, that battle is being lost.

We don´t like his white half either, MR. Powell.

What did the Dem party do to conservative black Congressman Allen West? "Defeated" him via voter fraud.

Pipeline Delay

DNC Chair and Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) told Meet the Press’ David Gregory Sunday morning that President Barack Obama’s latest delay in the approval of the proposed Keystone Pipeline was not a political decision meant to animate members of the Democratic base ahead of the 2014 midterms. “As a member of Congress who represents hundreds of thousands of people in south Florida, I want to make sure the right decision is arrived at and that the president makes that decision carefully and doesn’t factor politics into his decision, which I don’t think he is,” Wasserman Schultz said. Drought -- and neighbors --

LAS VEGAS — Deep beneath Lake Mead, a 23-foot-tall tunnel-boring machine grinds through stubborn bedrock in a billion-dollar effort to make sure water continues flowing to this thirsty resort city. For six years, the Southern Nevada Water Authority has been building an intake straw below the reservoir´s two existing pipes. Due for completion in fall 2015, critics say it may not provide a long-term solution. An ongoing drought and the Colorado River´s stunted flow have shrunk Lake Mead to its lowest level in generations. The reservoir, which supplies 90% of Las Vegas´ water, is ebbing as though a plug had been

In an op-ed published in the Boston Globe on Easter Sunday and posted on the State Department website, Secretary of State John Kerry recalled his days as an altar boy and pointed out that he is “the first Catholic Secretary of State in 33 years.” Alexander Haig, who served as secretary of state to President Ronald Reagan from January 1981 to July 1982, was also a Catholic. Last month, I traveled to Rome with President Obama, where I was honored to meet His Holiness Pope Francis,” said Kerry. “As an altar boy six decades ago, I never imagined that I

Fort Myers police responded to the chaotic scene shortly before 8 p.m. at the Second Haitian Baptist Church on 3660 Central Ave., Lt. Victor Medico said. When officers arrived, church members were using car jacks to try to lift the vehicle off churchgoers who were trapped underneath. Mary Briggs, spokeswoman for Lee Memorial Health System, said 18 people were taken to Lee County hospitals. Ten of the injured were taken to Lee Memorial Hospital, one of which was discharged late Sunday.

A man was charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery in a Friday shooting that left a 40-year-old man in the Brainerd neighborhood with six gunshot wounds. Deontae C. Jones, 18, was held on $1 million bail after appearing in Cook County bond court Sunday afternoon. Prosecutors said Jones approached a man who was outside his residence on the 9300 block of S. May St., checking to see if his recycling bin was full when Jones approached the man and fired at him. The victim began running away and fell to the ground, said Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Naheda

The first family attended Easter services Sunday at the Nineteenth Street Baptist Church, a Northwest Washington congregation that welcomed the Obamas on the eve of the president’s first inauguration. The Obamas’ motorcade left the White House shortly before 10 a.m. (Snip) The motorcade pulled up to the church, about four miles away, just after 10. The first family arrived through a tented entrance and sat in the second pew in a mostly, but not completely filled church, joining an estimated 250 others. The president wore a light khaki suit. The first lady was wearing a cream dress and sweater. Daughters

CLEARWATER — In the mid-1970s, Wayne Phillips saw a television program telling the story of the Shroud of Turin, a centuries-old linen cloth that bears the image of a crucified man. At first, he was miffed. Years of Catholic schooling — Jesuit High School in Tampa and Notre Dame University — and he had never known about this artifact? (He would later learn that it was a delicate subject at the Vatican.) A doctor, he has a curious mind. A mind shaped by logic and by science. But as a Catholic, he understands some beliefs are still a mystery. He

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. He even indulged in some less-than-subtle mockery of Republicans - and by extension the majority of Americans who have disapproved of Obamacare since before it became law. "The repeal debate is and should be over,” Obama said, taking a dig at Republicans who are “going through, you know, the stages of grief … anger and denial and all that stuff …” But a president who is viewed by most Americans as less

In a speech earlier this week, Lisa O. Monaco, President Barack Obama’s assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism, insisted that American parents must be vigilant because their “confrontational” children could be on the verge of becoming terrorists. Monaco’s full, prepared text is available here. She presented the speech, entitled “Countering Violent Extremism and the Power of Community,” at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government on April 15. Monaco began her remarks by eloquently describing the lives tragically lost last year during the Boston Marathon bombings. Interestingly, the Harvard grad failed to mention the religion or the motive of brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

If the Rev. John DeBonville could preach a sermon to lift the souls of churchgoers across America, his message would be simple: Stop dressing so tacky for church. DeBonville has heard about the “come as you are” approach to dressing down for Sunday service, but he says the Sabbath is getting too sloppy. When he scans the pews of churches, DeBonville sees rows of people dressed in their Sunday worst. They saunter into church in baggy shorts, flip-flop sandals, tennis shoes and grubby T-shirts. Some even slide into the pews carrying coffee in plastic foam containers as if they’re going to Starbucks. “It’s like
