| The White House has responded to a handful of petitions calling for various states to be given the right to secede from the United States, calling for unity and participatory government instead. "In a nation of 300 million people — each with their own set of deeply-held beliefs — democracy can be noisy and controversial. And that´s a good thing. Free and open debate is what makes this country work, and many people around the world risk their lives every day for the liberties we often take for granted," writes Director of the Office of Public Engagement

Comments: Uh huh, since 0bama and his out of control regime are such unifiers. s/o There is so much hypocrisy in that response you don´t even know where to start. That jerk is ripping this country apart and it sure isn´t going to improve over the next four years.

I read the lead in and that was enough for me. Hussein is the worst president this nation has ever had. He makes Jimmy Carter look like a prince.

Everybody knows these petitions were largely to send a message of dissatisfaction with Obama´s abuse of power and other power grabs. For these idiots to then stand there and call for unity is absurd, when they´re the ones provoking all the disunity.
You can´t read one new site where Obama isn´t planning on going around congress on one issue or another. The government was intentionally split up so a power craving marxist couldn´t declare full authority.
The debt ceiling is about to go to 18+ trillion which means Obama will spend more borrowed money in 6 years than all other presidents before him combined.Even worse is there will be no bang for the buck in any of it.

Talk of unity while subverting it......next time, there will be no petitions, no polite entreaties.

That there are so many States wanting to secede is amazing. At least they recognize what Obama is doing to the USA -- disuniting them.
It´s all on his head. Personally, I´d like to see the secession movement grow. Big.

This from the administration that is about to confirm at least 3 anti-Americans to cabinet positions. Lew refuses to work with the Republicans at all, and refuses to do anything to pay down the debt or deficit. He and the others work for Mr.O, not for the American people.
The national givernment no longer represents the American people. How can the most divisive potus in history expect the citizens to work for unity when he does not.

we need to go back to having the states be the principle tax and spend governmental unit. there is too big a divide in the country and it will continue to grow.
i dont care to live in California, NY and NJ and dont want to spend my tax dollars supporting the way they do things. i am sure they feel the same about states like TX, AZ, Florida etc.

What the heck are we doing, groveling, hat in hand to ask our uberloard 0bama PERMISSION to secede? I´m pretty sure that is not how the founders intended it, regardless of Lincoln´s "folly."
The states joined of free will and are entitled--have always had the RIGHT--to leave.
No one should ever be forced to stay in a relationship, as Jefferson so elegantly declared. We have a divine right to liberty!

For them to address this topic publicly sounds like it´s more than a casual issue. Obama´s moves this week have made me suspicious of what´s happening behind the scenes. His quick plan to end the war and vacate Afghanistan makes one wonder. Also, what was this lifetime protection bill he signed? Now the secession remark...doesn´t sound like a happy White House.

The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution gives citizens the right "to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” That is a legal issue. The White House response is a public relations response, and I don´t blame them for trying it. But if people have grievances, they can seek relief under the law, as I read the Constitution.

Aww But Obe the those millions of independent thinkers are what is called a Republic > A Constitutional Republic is stated in the Constitution and by law as our official form of Government. In the form of a representative Republic NOT a Democracy. Take your democracy worded as one unit tuned to obey you and drop it into the nearest trash compactor crawl in with it and close the lid.

EXCLUSIVE: In the hallowed halls of Columbia University, a nest of ex-cons — who have served time for murder, attempted murder, robbery and assault — hold court on their unique brand of social justice for admiring students enrolled in the school´s social work program, a FoxNews.com investigation has found. The ex-cons work for or with the Criminal Justice Initiative (CJI), co-founded in 2009 by former Weather Underground operative and Columbia adjunct professor Kathy Boudin, who pleaded guilty to felony murder for her role in an infamous 1981 armed robbery that left two police officers and a security guard dead.

On Rush Limbaugh’s radio show this afternoon, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, denounced the Gang of Eight immigration reform bill, encouraging his audience to call their member of Congress to oppose the bill. Cruz noted there were about 20 Republican Senators that were on the fence about voting for the bill, but that he believed that it was “politically foolish” and “terrible for the country.” “It doesn’t fix the problem,” Cruz said. “We need to fix the problem, secure the borders and improve legal immigration.” Cruz dismissed the Congressional Budget Office report showing that the bill would actually decrease federal

President Obama´s visit to the Group of Eight summit has created a political row in Ireland after an outspoken liberal lawmaker on Wednesday denounced the U.S. president as a “war criminal” for his drone use and his decision to arm the Syrian rebels. Parliamentarian Clare Daly said her country´s government had showcased the country “as a nation of pimps, prostituting ourselves in return for a pat on the head,” The Irish Times reports. The “unprecedented slobbering” during Obama´s two-day visit to Northern Ireland, she said, had even led to speculation that “you were going to deck the

Perelman, 70, has been a political player for decades. He dishes out large campaign checks. He employs a team of lobbyists to patrol the nation’s capital to protect his business interests. President Obama on Tuesday downplayed Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s decision to suspend talks on a long-term security deal with the U.S. in protest of the launch of formal peace talks with the Taliban. Karzai also pulled out of peace talks with the Taliban the Obama administration agreed to hold in Qatar, which are to begin Thursday. Obama said his administration had always anticipated "difficult negotiations." "We had extensive conversations with President Karzai both before and after the Taliban opened the office in Doha," Obama told reporters at a joint press conference in Berlin with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

It probably wouldn´t have shocked political observers if Sen. Marco Rubio´s job approval ratings had taken a hit since becoming the Republican face of comprehensive immigration reform earlier this year. But the Florida Republican´s numbers in his home state are actually close to their best ever, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday, though the senator did get low marks from voters for his handling of both immigration and gun control. Rubio had a job approval rating of 51 percent to 35 percent, the survey of registered voters found.

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

As NewsBusters reported last week, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin called out vulgarian comedian Bill Maher for referring to her Down Syndrome son Trig as "retarded." On ABC´s The View Monday, co-host Barbara Walters astonishingly defended Maher saying, "I don´t think he intended it to be mean-spirited" (video follows with transcript and commentary): WHOOPI GOLDBERG: At a recent standup show in Las Vegas, comedian Bill Maher apparently called Sarah Palin’s five-year-old developmentally-challenged son Trig retarded. And Sarah blasted him on Twitter as a bully. Is that, is it, is he a bully? Is he a bad, what is he?

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.
