´So you´ll suffer a little bit´: Bloomberg
says combating addiction ´epidemic´ is
riority as he hits back at claims that

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has launched a crackdown on prescription drugs and said patients who genuinely need painkillers might have to ´suffer a little bit´ to get the citywide addiction ´epidemic´ under control. Bloomberg announced the plan, which will sharply restrict some of the most common and most powerful painkillers from emergency rooms in the city´s 11 hospitals, yesterday. But it was immediately met with harsh criticism, with doctors claiming it would penalize the poor. However, the Mayor was not swayed, claiming, on his weekly radio show, that there was ´no evidence´

Comments:
I can´t print what I really think of this arrogant little jerk. His behavior is disgusting and stunning. Just imagine if a conservative said this, or even Rush Limbaugh. The leftists would be apoplectic! It will penalize the poor?? How about penalizing everyone?? If you can´t see the danger of out of control dictators like Bloomberg there is no hope for you.

He ignores what is going on in the streets outside the hospital unless it deals with salt or soft drinks, he always has an excuse for drug dealers but he is sticking his nose into hospitals and doctors treating patients. When did he get his MD?

I do wonder what would this little moron say or do if he was in a hospital and had to have surgery without an anesthetic or pain killers. He needs to be replaced as soon as possible. OR go to a hospital with a ruptured appendix.

Who died and made bloomberg and obama masters over the great unwashed? Oh, that´s right, the American democratic voter. Problem is we have to suffer right along side them.

#3, those citizens who live in cities with such mayors, or States with such governors can move. If they stay, that´s their problem.

As for Bloomberg´s cavalier attitude toward pain-killing drugs and others suffering, like most, I´d like to see him writhing in pain on the ground as his appendix is about to burst or as one of his his spinal discs herniates. We´ll see how he feels about "suffering at little bit".

New York, in a Democracy, getting exactly what it deserves.

You vote to place a megalomanic in charge of a Nanny State, this is what you get. All you can do is hope no one who did not vote for him suffers as a result, here quite literally.

And this little control freak wants to be president.

And he has more than enough money to fund an entire campaign all by himself.

And the voters are dumb enough to go for anything these days.

Narcissism abounds in the elite political class. In any sane environment, this man would be declared to have serious mental problems and removed from office.

If there were any justice in the world, Bloomberg should be denied all painkillers and analgesics for the rest of his life. Not even an aspirin. What a jerk!

As a nurse who has witnessed patients in pain, I cannot write what I´m thinking without being kicked out of the salon by Miss Lucianne. This is insanity. Bloomberg is mayor, not medically trained, so please just stay out of areas of which you know nothing.

You wanted politicians in charge of your health. You´ve got it. That means you get to suffer unnecessary horrible pain so an addict you´ve never met might not get a chance to break the law.

Power mad.

I remember many years ago that many doctors were hesitant to prescribe pain killers, saying essentially what Doomberg is now saying. Wife and I were told also that pain killers would make it difficult for a doctor to determine where the pain was coming from making diagnosis more difficult and that pain killers actually retarded healing. 30 plus years later I am reading articles that pain killing drugs actually speed up healing. Now this little twerp is sticking his big nose into the debate.

In this world where what goes around comes around, Mr. Bloomberg should start hoarding painkillers for himself.

People like Bloomie cause great stress for cancer patients that get pain pills from their oncologist. Now one of my friends has to get her medication from pain clinics along with druggies.

Doctors have so many regs today they don´t even want to dispense narcotics.

Sick, EVIL monster! This tyrant is going make the demand for heroin and black market pill trade go up. He will turn people, who are in pain, into "criminals" simply because they are trying to function without horrible suffering. Some pain is not bearable without some kind of strong medication...those people will not just be a little uncomfortable if they can´t get their prescriptions. Yes, I too hope he experiences some very painful afflictions during his little experiment. The only problembis that he will just use his power and position to get what he needs. He is more equal than others, you know...

President Obama isn´t the only one whose fortunes are on the line in the face of a trio of explosive political scandals that are consuming Washington. The Justice Department´s monitoring of reporters, the Internal Revenue Service´s targeting of conservative groups and the White House´s handling of the Sept. 11 Benghazi, Libya, terrorist attack could also haunt Obama´s fellow Democrats, many of whom are already facing headwinds in next year´s midterm elections. With Republicans -- and much of the public -- convinced the controversies will linger into 2014, some Democrats a year and a half ahead

After the IRS revealed it had wrongly targeted hundreds of conservative and Tea Party groups, the agency claimed that the misconduct was limited to "low-level employees" in its Cincinnati office. Yesterday, the attorney for Lois Lerner, the head of the IRS’s tax-exempt organizations division, told the House Oversight Committee she would invoke her Fifth Amendment rights, making that explanation much less credible. Now the local Cincinnati Fox affiliate, FOX19, has done some digging and uncovered information suggesting that top officials at the IRS weren´t too far removed from the six low-level employees identified as making unjustified inquiries.

Tell us how you really feel, Joe Scarborough. The Morning Joe co-host devoted a segment on Wednesday to the Justice Department going after leaks — particularly the recently reported case involving Fox News. Scarborough railed against the Obama administration’s approach, charging that the actions were more damning because they’re aimed at “the opposition.” Scarborough questioned how this case is any different from the Pentagon papers, or the Cold War, etc. What makes President Obama think he’s any different? As Cokie Roberts responded to that thought, Scarborough couldn’t help but come back to a point

What did the White House know about the IRS targeting conservative groups and when did it know it? Crucial evidence needed to develop an accurate answer to that question would include the records of any communications that went back and forth between the IRS and the White House on the topic. In a May 14 letter signed by Chairman Dave Camp and Ranking Member Sander Levin, the House Ways and Means Committee demanded precisely those records from the IRS. In the same letter, the committee also demanded the records of any communications between IRS and the Treasury

The press-punishing, speech-chilling, and unabashedly overreaching actions by the Obama administration against the Associated Press and Fox News Channel’s James Rosen lay bare the essential dynamic between any president and a press that is always more prone to being lapdogs than watchdogs: The president feeds or punishes them as he sees fit, while chanting a bogus rosary about “national security.” In the case of the AP, the Obama administration secretly subpoenaed phone-call logs and other information from an office in which over 100 journalists worked. Officials were on the hunt for the sources that cooperated

With the decision to label a Fox News television reporter a possible “co-conspirator” in a criminal investigation of a news leak, the Obama administration has moved beyond protecting government secrets to threatening fundamental freedoms of the press to gather news. The latest reported episode involves James Rosen, the chief Washington correspondent for Fox News. In 2009, Mr. Rosen reported on FoxNews.com that North Korea planned to launch a missile in response to the condemnation of its nuclear tests by the United Nations Security Council. The Justice Department investigated the source of the article and later indicted

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.
