| The Virginia Supreme Court has overturned a preliminary injunction against a Fairfax woman who is facing a $750,000 defamation lawsuit for her negative reviews on Yelp and Angie’s List. A Fairfax County Circuit Court had previously ordered Jane Perez to remove some claims she made in her negatice reviews of a D.C. contractor who performed work on her home and barred her from repeating those accusations in future posts. But on Friday, the Virginia Supreme Court found the preliminary injunction was not limited to a prescribed period, was not justified

I have had people bad mouth me behind my back. They hide like cowards. At least this person was able to connect a name and a bank account to the person that bad mouth him.
I would have expected she could have provided photos of the damage or non performance of the work at the very least. The article does not say if she did but did say the case had been dismissed prior to going to court. That to me shows no evidence.
You want evidence then watch Holmes on Homes who repairs what other contractors wreck.

I have mixed feelings...however, if I see only one bad review and a lot of good ones, I tend to discount the one bad. I know people can be vindictive and crazy. But then again I have also been erroneously treated badly by some businesses too. We had a veterinarian office lie about us and then force us to leave in the middle of treatment. It was all a misunderstanding over an agreement one of the doctors made but the doctor wasn´t there and the office people claimed we called them liars and threatened them (never happened). The office people were rude from the beginning and we just tried to get them to call the doctor. Nobody threatened anyone. So, what can a person do? Write a review. I tried calling the office manager but she wouldn´t even listen to me. Her mind was closed. So, yes..sometimes businesses do mess with their customers. And when they do, people should be able to have a place to relay their experiences so others don´t have to endure it.

Having endured the incompetence and downright dishonesty (and theft) of contractors, my sympathies tend to lie with the customer, who posted a bad review.
If the contractor was unfairly reviewed, there should be a number of good reviews to counter the bad one.

More whistleblowers will emerge shortly in the escalating Benghazi scandal, according to two former U.S. diplomats who spoke with PJ Media Monday afternoon. These whistleblowers, colleagues of the former diplomats, are currently securing legal counsel because they work in areas not fully protected by the Whistleblower law. Conservatives have always belonged to our nation’s least sympathetic group: the unvictimized. The Republican Party is overwhelmingly white, Christian, straight and increasingly Southern. It is, at least in the minds of its critics, the party of the privileged oppressor. Although there´s still a great deal to be learned about the scandals and controversies swirling around the White House like so many ominous dorsal fins in the surf, the nature of President Obama´s bind is becoming clear. The best defenses of his administration require undermining the rationale for his presidency. "We´re portrayed by Republicans as either being lying or idiots. WASHINGTON — The White House says White House Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler was first informed about an audit of the IRS´ inappropriate targeting of conservative groups on April 24 and that she notified senior staff, including Denis McDonough, the chief of staff to President Barack Obama. White House press secretary Jay Carney says Ruemmler "appropriately" decided not to tell Obama at the time because the audit was ongoing. The audit by a Treasury Department inspector general found that IRS employees singled out groups with names like "tea party" and "patriots" for special scrutiny that delayed their applications for tax exempt status.

White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?"
