The huge cost of setting up and running such a massive national firearms and firearms owner registration system would clearly adversely outweigh any benefit derived from it. The Canadians found that out, and did away with the registration system that they had in Canada.

The only reason that the Democrats would want to set up such gun, and gun owner, data bases is if they intend to confiscate all firearms sometime in the future. Probably after another isolated horrific shooting by a nut case that creates another crisis for them to implement another incremental move towards banning all firearms.

It´s a little different where I´m from; I filled out the form at the Sherrif´s office, waited about 15 mins, then paid $15 and received my permit. Years ago, when the site was still young, I made acquaintance with an L.dotter (who I had reason to believe had credibility) who told me about government experiments that had been taking place in California--and at the time, in San Diego. Find a good gun store, #92. Not a big box chain. They will advise you. Smith and Wesson makes a nice .22 revolver. Until you actually hold the gun, you really can´t make a good decision.

#92 my everyday 24/7 go to weapon is a smith and weapon .357. I keep it loaded other hollow point armor piercing bullets. It makes me feel protected and feminine at the same time.
Any semiautomatic assault rifle with a large capacity clip is wonderful for home protection and general piece of mind.
As back up against ammo shortages, a high velocity bow with armor piercing arrows is a Godsend.
Of course rocket launchers are the best protection, but you need a good dealer to find one.
As a last result, and to save money, you can always hacksaw the last 12-14 inches of your 12 gauge shotgun in a pinch. This creates a fabulous and deadly weapon that is so easy transport..

If this proposal by liberal Democrats were to pass it would ban almost all modern firearms being produced and sold in the US today, and would wipe out most of the small arms industry along with the other allied industries who supply just about every item you can think of relating to guns, as those industries could not survive on bidding for diminishing military contracts alone.

If that were to happen many thousands of well paying American jobs in those industries would also go down the drain.

The politicians who voted for such an overreaching gun control bill that would punish and take away the rights of tens of millions of law abiding Americans for the criminal acts of several nut jobs would in a lot of cases find it very hard to get re-elected.
