| In his long acting career, Jack Klugman, who died on Christmas Eve aged 90, created two iconic TV types that have now become stock characters. In the 1970-75 small-screen adaptation of Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple, he played a jerk who was also the show’s most lovable character. As Oscar Madison, Klugman channeled a bear trapped in a tiny Manhattan apartment with Tony Randall’s mosquito of a neatnik, Felix Unger. No matter how slobbish and inconsiderate Oscar might be, Klugman’s winning smile—and Oscar’s extraordinary patience with Felix’s uptight ways—made it impossible to dislike him.

Oe of my favorite Twilight Zone episodes starred Jack as a despairing musician who gets a lesson in Life, and the Trumpet, from the Angel Gabriel (John Anderson)

The Odd Couple was one of my very favorite TV programs. I have to admit, if I were to compare myself to one of the characters in it, I´m definitly an Oscar, while my wife is definitly a Felix. So many laughs, perfectly done. RIP Jack, you´re an original.

Loved both shows. The loveable jerk and the mystery solving M.E. Not many actors out there who could create 2 such different iconic characters. And nobody played the loveable jerk like Jack did either.
He will be missed. RIP Jack.

Two favorite episodes of The Odd Couple: Password and The Car. I´m glad Klugman and Randall remained so close and are together again. I´m certain Tony Randall organized quite the heavenly theater group in the meantime.

My memories of him were one of his TV shows where he did a hatchet job on gun owners and firearms. I´ll never forget that. There is now one less anti-gun nut in Follywood.

The deadly twister that raked through Oklahoma did an estimated $2 billion in damage, which puts it on track to be the most expensive tornado in U.S. history. That’s the preliminary damage estimate the Oklahoma Insurance Department released Wednesday, two days after a monster twister flattened the city of Moore and killed 24 people, including nine children. The figure was double an earlier estimate. Insurance Department spokeswoman Calley Herth said the monetary damage caused by Monday’s tornado could be greater than the $2 billion in damage from the 2011 tornado that struck Joplin, Mo.

The union representing U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services officials will officially oppose the proposed Senate immigration reform legislation on Monday, according to an advance statement obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. The National Citizenship and Immigration Services Council (USCIS Council) says the legislation fails to address its top concerns about the current system, including the pressure on USCIS officers to approve visa applications without thorough review and the bureaucratic barricades that prevent them from coordinating with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement officials. Sources say it is highly unusual for the USCIS Council to weigh in publicly on legislation.

WASHINGTON — I WENT to New York last week to cover the TV presentations for the new season, shows like “Scandal,” “Shark Tank” and a faltering “American Idol.” I may as well have stayed here. You know that the faltering American idol in the White House must be reeling in this scandalous spring. No Drama Obama is immersed in drama so over the top it could have been scripted by Shonda Rhimes and Karl Rove. One of two men allegedly being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings was shot and killed by an FBI agent in Florida on Tuesday, (Snip)A friend of Ibragim Todashev said he and Todashev were being investigated as part of the Boston bombings. He said Todashev, 27, knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters. The man claims he and Todashev were interviewed by the FBI for nearly three hours on Tuesday. The friend said he left the interview, and when he came back to the apartment he found that there had been a shooting.

What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. What was a DHS agent doing at the San Jose Tea Party protest? (snip) they weren´t just spying on us in San Jose and monitoring us in San Francisco, they were watching us throughout the entire state

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”
