Pope says future of mankind
at stake over gay marriage

Pope Benedict XVI has weighed in on a heated debate over gay marriage, criticising new concepts of the traditional family and warning that mankind itself was at stake. "In the fight for the family, the very notion of being – of what being human really means – is being called into question," the Pope said in Italian during an end-of-year speech. "The question of the family ... is the question of what it means to be a man, and what it is necessary to do to be true men," he said.

This from a man who heads an organization whose clergy sexually molested and abused children for decades. Who heads the same organization which moved these sexual predators from parish to parish so they could continue to prey upon children again and again. This man and his organization have lost the right to declare they have any moral leadership ever again.

This non-Catholic is grateful to the Pope for speaking out in such strong terms. Let´s hope the Catholic Church always stands firm on this.

#1 your thoughts are understandable. But I have to suggest that the mistakes you cite are part and parcel of a broad from-the-ground-up horror in the human. Definitely not doxology. And much worse elsewhere. (You don´t want to be a young boy in Afghanistan with the taliban visiting your town.)

Ironic #1, since many of the people who helped shield/move/hide the perpetrators in the Church are themselves rather liberal in their approach to Church teaching and highly likely to be the very ones supporting gay "rights" and marriage and thus opposing the Pope´s stance.

It´s documented that the Pope protected the abusers as well.

He´s reaping what he sowed with the loss of moral authority.

Actually same sex perversion is an effective population control measure so the leftist should repress the practice. Not only does that perverse union not produce offspring it promotes fatal diseases.
The dimfecals should give that some thought since it (dimfecal ideology or lack thereof) will soon run out of wackos to steal votes.
Oh no. We forgot the efficient overbreeders from washington and mexifornia.
What a relief. We can still have our dimfecals.

Oh, good, the Catholic bashers are back! Yes the abuse by the Priests were wrong, but Catholic Clergy are by no means the only ones guilty of this sin. Elmer Gantry was no Catholic. Jimmy Swaggart solicited whores on the streets. There is an unfortunate tradition that is decades and decades old of clergy of all stripes taking advantage of their charges. But they are a minuscule fraction. Most clergy, Catholic or not, do enormous amounts of good. It is certainly true that thousands and thousands of Catholic Priests do good and are loved by their parishioners. And the Catholic Church does enormous good throughout the world. You just happen to hate Catholics. Just say that and sign off. No need for a phony justification for your hate.

The socialists have never believed in the family, individuals, or freedom. Socialists believe only in the state (they assume that will be them), coercion and compulsion.

Gay marriage is evil.

It doesn´t matter if every person on Earth voted in favor of gay marriage it would still be evil.

We will reap the results of that evil.

Catholic-bashing isn´t going to make the truth go away. And #1 that is total distortion. Not going to bother with it but your post is slanderous. Anyway, what the Holy Father said is true. No one´s going to like this, but - when oral contraceptives came out the Church said artificial contraception would lead to abortion and people said How Ridiculous. Then the Church said abortion would lead to euthanasia and people said, How Ridiculous. Then the Church said that euthanasia would bring down civilization. How Ridiculous. ?They know what human beings are, and how the culture is built. It´s not a good idea to go around knocking down pillars that you don´t see the need for in a building you don´t understand. Things aren´t immortal just because you take them for granted. Eventually it all goes down.

If gay marriage is a threat to mankind, the underlying assumption is that the majority of men would find marriage to a man more attractive than marriage to a woman. I use men here as an example because the Vatican emphasizes the role of men more than it does the role of women in procreation.

It´s an interesting assumption. Inherent within it is the notion that the majority of men are capable of relations with both genders. The Vatican´s line of thinking is therefore in tune with Kinsey´s research findings.

#14 says #1 is distorting the truth? #14, there are none so blind as those who will not see. He´s not the Holy Father. He´s an old man in a dress who heads a church that, for decades, covered up for pedophiles. Argue with that. Merry Christmas.

# 14 How is anything I said slanderous when it has been proven to be true with the trials and convictions of some of the priest who abused and sexually molested children. Also, the catholic church in the US has paid out 2 billions dollars so far to abuse victims in the US and now a bishop has been convicted in Federal court and received a prison sentence for aiding and abetting priests who molested and abused children in his diocese. The catholic church in Ireland has also been investigated for the same molestations and abuse of children as their counterparts in the US.

Ans I´ll say it again this religion and this pope have no moral authority left.

The First Lady Michelle Obama told graduates from Nashville´s Martin Luther King Jr High School to carve their own path, work hard and show grit and determination at her commencement speech today. But little did she know that teachers and students at the Tennessee school, have shown more grit than most in dealing with the school´s run-down conditions. The school was honored to host Mrs Obama in the only high school graduation speech she will give this year. But it was no surprise the event was held off campus given the state of the school buildings

You may be forgiven if you missed it during last week’s tsunami of scandals, but President Obama finally let slip that he is a socialist. Buried in the 17th paragraph of one of those mewling New York Times pieces on the woes of Obama — can we start calling him Woe-bama yet? — appeared these two words: “going Bulworth.” Obama himself, the Times explained, has been “longingly” telling his inner circle that what he’d really like to do is what Sen. Jay Bulworth, played by Warren Beatty in his 1998 movie “Bulworth,” did: to go public as

The activity was outrageous and inexcusable, and it was stopped and it needs to be fixed so we ensure it never happens again.” When asked for clarification, Pfeiffer expounded: “What I mean is, whether it’s legal or illegal is not important to the fact

Appearing on CBS’ Face the Nation, White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer said that it was “largely irrelevant” who edited the talking points the Obama administration trotted out in the aftermath of the terrorist attack in Benghazi on September 11, 2012. Host Bob Schieffer asked, “That was just a PR plan, to send out somebody who didn’t know anything about what had happened. Why did you do that? Why didn’t the Secretary of State come and tell us what they knew, and if they knew nothing, say ‘We don’t know yet?’ …. Why are you here today?

On Fox News Sunday this morning, White House spokesman Dan Pfeiffer was asked by Chris Wallace where in the White House President Obama was during the September 11, 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi that killed four Americans. “Question,” asked Wallace. “What did the President do the rest of that night to pursue Benghazi?” Pfeiffer answered, “Look, the President was kept up to date on this as it was happening the entire night, from the moment it started until the very end …. The Homeland Security Department has granted legal status to 99.2 percent of all illegal immigrants who have applied under President Obama’s new non-deportation policy for young adults, according to the latest numbers released Friday. That’s a slight drop from the 99.5 percent approval rate reported last month. The policy, known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, grants legal status to most illegal immigrants under the age of 31 who came to the U.S. before age 16 — usually brought by their parents. They are allowed to remain in the U.S. without fear of deportation, and are given work

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.
