Farmers watch fiscal
cliff crisis closely

Philadelphia Inquirer, by Tom Infield

Among the many Americans concerned about the fiscal-cliff negotiations in Washington are farmers, who have a particular stake. Their worry: inheritance taxes. If Congress doesn´t act, the threshold for an estate to become subject to federal taxation would fall from $5 million to a little over $1 million on Jan 1. And the tax rate on value above $1 million would jump from 35 percent to as much as 55 percent. Small-business owners and well-to-do seniors could also be hit by a return to pre-2001 tax rates. But farmers say they are especially vulnerable because of the large investments

Any tax-paying citizen who did not vote for Romney is an idiot. Why any of them were conflicted is beyond me. Now, we will suffer the consequences.

$1 million isn´t really that much any more, but Obamination won, and the Democrats are hoping the Republicans save them from this fiscal cliff.

Democrats will get all the credit, and Republicans all the blame.

Republicans need to message that "we tried to deal with this president, and we know the Senate Democrats didn´t want to discuss anything like they have for nearly 4 years, so this is the end result of partisan Democrat politics".

But, Republicans won´t be specific and point the blame at Democrats (they always say Congress needs to act - and then are blamed as controlling Congress).

The Death Tax is as unfair as they come. It is double taxation, as tax was paid originally on the money it took to buy the farm or ranch or whatever. If farms or ranches have to be broken up to pay the tax, prices of food will skyrocket, and cheap food is one of the reasons for the prosperity of the USA. Further, some of the most talented farmers will be forced to leave farming leading to lower efficiency and higher food prices. The Death Tax is nothing more than a redistribution of wealth, dear to Obama but lethal to the rest of the country.

Combine this with the regulation to prevent children from working on their family farms (it will be put in place now that the election is over) and individual farms will be eradicated. But it will all be for the good, because out of national security the government can then take over all agriculture.

The EPA has already hurt farmers badly, now the democrats will finish them off with taxes.

White farmers. The black farmers got $50,000 reparations.

What is worse is the cost of petroleum products. Fuel is through the roof. Ditto fertilizer. Ditto chemicals.

Zippy and his crew want to drive the small farms under. It will be much easier to control food production when it is concentrated in the hands of a few large companies, which can either be run by cronies or threatened by regulations into doing what the statists want.

And once you control the food supply, it is easy to control people. Even militia fighters need to eat.

A major tea party group is planning protests at Internal Revenue Services nationwide Tuesday following revelations earlier this month that the tax agency had flagged organizations with the words "tea party" or "patriot" for additional scrutiny. The protests were originally scheduled only for Cincinnati, where the IRS has said employees responsible for the targeting were based. But Tea Party Patriots head Jenny Beth Martin tells Whispers she received requests to protest across the country. A call to action on the group´s web site tells supporters that "the IRS is out of control" and so

President Obama will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in California on June 7-8, the White House announced Monday. It will be Mr. Obama’s first meeting with Mr. Xi since he became president of China in March. They previously met in Washington in 2011 when Mr. Xi was vice president. The talks come amid heightened U.S. tensions over cyberattacks reportedly originating in China. But the Obama administration said it has been pleased with Beijing’s cooperation in trying to persuade North Korea to reduce its belligerent military actions this spring.

The Indiana attorney general’s office confirmed Monday it is investigating a security breach in which Social Security numbers and other personal information were posted online for roughly 44,000 low-income Americans who applied for a federal program that provides discount Internet and phone service. The program was nicknamed the “Obamaphone” during the 2012 election, though it actually started long before President Obama took office. Indiana reportedly has the highest number of applicants, roughly 17,400, who were signed up by TerraCom Inc. and the affiliated YourTel America Inc. Applicants from at least 26 states were exposed to the security breach,

WASHINGTON- Apple Inc. has used an elaborate web of offshore subsidiaries to avoid paying billions of dollars in U.S. taxes on $44 billion in foreign income over the past four years, a Senate investigation has found. Many of the tactics, such as cost-sharing arrangements, are common among large multinational corporations seeking to shift profits to countries with lower tax rates. The investigation did not find Apple violated any laws. But three of its subsidiaries in Ireland claim to have no responsibility to pay income taxes to any country, according to a 40-page, bipartisan report released Monday

Monday afternoon, ABC News released a chilling report that details what journalists have faced while trying to get some answers from the Cincinnati IRS office, which is where a majority of the Tea Party targeting took place. According to ABC, an "armed uniform police officer with the Federal Protective Service" "escorted" reporters through the public building. ABC says if the intent wasn´t to "scare off" employees who might talk, "it was the effect." ABC News is also hearing conflicting reports from Cincinnati IRS employees and the IRS Headquarters in Washington.

CINCINNATI- Few workers know the IRS Cincinnati office better than Bonnie Esrig, who worked there for 24 years. She retired from her job as a senior manager in January. Esrig said she did not recall any discussion of politics in the office. "Politics and religion were things people generally didn´t talk about at work," she said. Esrig did not work on political cases and was not connected to the applications at the center of the controversy. But she worked in the same office where fewer than 200 people were dealing with 73,000 applications for exemptions last year.

On her blog this afternoon, Fox News’ On the Record host Greta Van Susteren wrote that the Department of Justice should feel “lucky” they did not hack into her emails like they did with her colleague James Rosen several years ago. While that sounds like a veiled threat against the DOJ, Van Susteren was actually making a joke about how her personal email account mostly contains correspondence and information regarding her sick dog named Audrey: Had Justice hacked into my personal email account this weekend, they would have had to sort through all the emails from the vet

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

WASHINGTON – White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer said Sunday Republicans owe Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, an apology for alleging she played a part in formulating the White House’s response to the attacks in Benghazi, Libya, last year that killed four Americans. Pfeiffer said on ABC’s “This Week” that the release of more than 100 pages of Benghazi emails and notes show “beyond a shadow of the doubt” that accusations she tried to change the narrative of what happened in the attacks was false. "And, frankly, I think that many of the Republicans
