| I pull up in front of our town´s little savings bank branch, drop out of the door and when my boots hit the pavement reach under my shirt and the remove the Smith & Wesson Model 28 .357 which I then put under the seat before locking the truck. "What are you doing Grandpa?" my granddaughter asks walking around from the other door. "Here´s a word of advice cupcake. It´s never a good idea to walk into a bank with a gun."

A good article, so far as it goes. But the wishful thinking also extends to the ACLU and its wishful thinking about the rights of those with serious mental illness. The rights of the seriously mentally ill to purchase weapons and ammunition - and ,yes, even to purchase truckloads of fertilizer. The rights of the seriously mentally ill to live homeless on our streets rather than listen to their families who are begging to get them treatment.
Mental illness is treatable. But not by wishful thinking.

When Our Government demands ´Gun Free Zones´, and we acquiesce, then we should demand Our Government be held responsible for any evil done within those zones.
We should expect Our Government to provide protection for Citizens within said zones, if the citizens are not allowed to protect thenselves...

in every municipality and school district, there reside current or former military and/or police. A relatively simple solution might be for these men and women to work with a school board to establish volunteer security schedules. And it wouldn´t have to be full day scheduling - it could be 3-4 hours per volunteer. If we think ´´outside the box´´ there are potential answers. School control is local - one school board at a time is all that requires convincing. Approaching them now, while they´re relatively vulnerable (and of course thinking of reelection) might not be the worst idea in the world...

Nothing illegal about concealed carry in a bank. Sane people know that you shouldn´t show your weapon to a teller, however.

A copy of this article should be sent to every school Superintendent and Principal. Then they should be asked, what do you specifically intend to do to protect the children in your care? What penalties should be placed upon you should you fail and children in your care are massacred? Based on the number of school shootings xplain how Gun Free Zones have protected children since the law was passed?
I read an article yesterday that listed every school shooting since the Gun Free Law was passed. When you see the list it brings how graphically how the Gun Free Law is a joke. Those who passed it should be ashamed of themselves. Of course, we know they won´t because of their self-importance and self-righteousness. They could be shamed by their neighbors if they had the courage to do it.

May I suggest a solution for the schools.
Shatter proof glass on the entire first floor.
A shatter proof glass door with a small vestibule where any visitor must wait to prove his/her need to be in the building.
A metal detector as the last stop before the door is opened.

The Lindisfarne analogy is quite a stretch. It is probably too much of a stretch. But it raises an interesting sidebar.
The holy monks of Lindisfarne did not think they were "better than that." They thought they were sinful. That is why they were in the monastery. The first Viking raid caught them by surprise. They undoubtedly hoped that God was watching after them, but that if something adverse occurred to them, it was part of the divine plan. I do not believe there is any historical basis for the idea that armed guards could or should have been posted at Lindisfarne before the first Viking raid in 793 A.D. The monks -those who survived - did not discourage easily. The monastery was rebuilt and raided again - several times, I believe. They finally concluded that life would be safer -though not entirely safe, thanks to Viking longships that easily penetrated the rivers- on the mainland.
Thus, while I doubt very much that Mr. Miniter´s historical comparison can withstand scrutiny, he hits the nail on the head when he charges that modern liberals think "they are better than that." The Lindisfarne monks could claim surprise and God´s will. Liberals do not believe in God in any serious fashion and certainly do not comprehend the nature of human beings, beginning with themselves. The closest liberals come to God is the State. Their heaven is posterity, i.e. when all human problems have been solved by reason.

Hey, liberals! Obama thinks you are stupid. Yeah, he really does. He knew Benghazi was terrorism before he didn´t know it was terrorism. Addressing a question about Benghazi in his press conference Monday, May 13, 2013, Obama´s "logic" really made an impression: "The Day after it happened I acknowledged that this was an act of terrorism." (snip) Leaving behind Obama´s initial certitude about Benghazi having been a terror attack, not only did he not know what had happened because it wasn´t clear

What person ever says what he really knows at a funeral? Eulogies bearing little or no resemblance to the deceased or to the facts are trotted out by people who are often bad actors, who though they know better, lie anyway. It´s almost acceptable behavior. But any truth about the deaths of U.S. Ambassador Christ Stevens and three other Americans appears to have been put six feet under as far as our current administration is concerned. (snip)Did they love Chris Stevens the way Brutus loved Caesar?

Somewhere, Andrew Breitbart is smiling. You can almost see the metaphorical light bulbs going on in bubbles over the heads of liberal media figures. Obama loyalists are expressing outrage at the subpoenaing of the phone records of 20 lines serving over a hundred AP reporters. The timing could not be better.(snip) the AP scandal´s significance entirely lies with its effect on the media´s mindset on Obama. They have been cheerleading for him for six years,

Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell was convicted yesterday on three counts of first-degree murder, not to mention a slew of other charges, including involuntary manslaughter (for the death of 41-year-old Karnamaya Mongar), infanticide, and abortions past Pennsylvania´s legal limit. (snip)in a culture dominated by the 24-hour news cycle, it will be easy for Americans to consider the abortion issue closed with the Gosnell verdict. The pro-life movement´s challenge, as [Lila] Rose says, is to keep the American people focused on how common Gosnell-like practices are in the abortion industry, and on all the unsung victims abortion

Did Barack Obama in effect steal the election in 2012? It is impossible to know, of course, how matters would have played it if Americans had been told the truth about Benghazi. And what if the IRS had not hobbled conservative nonprofits (and therefore the movement) with extra scrutiny and consequent delay and expenses? But there can be no doubt that Obama helped himself by being able to claim that Al Qaeda was "on the run" and with an assist from Candy Crowley make Mitt Romney look bad on when he criticized Obama´s anti-terror policies.

The re-election of Barack Obama is the high water mark and the end of an era. The period 1960 to 2014 will go down in American history as the era of never-ending crusades leading to the decline and potential downfall of the United States. During this time frame America has been inundated with one cause after another. The essential civil rights movement and the tragically successful Viet Nam protests spawned numerous causes, among them: feminism, environmentalism, global warming, and gay rights. For each generation born after 1940 it has been a rite of passage

The Three Whistleblowers at the Benghazi hearing spoke softly, but with the emotional wallop of The Three Tenors. They told the truth, and it blasted like thunder through Obama´s tissue palace of lies. Listening to these strong, solemn men, I heard the sound of old America: a place of hardworking people who love their country and believe in something bigger than their own power. (snip) But today, their America is forced to serve a different god: a cold, smiling man with a hollow heart and hands that get bloodier by the day.

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: You are the mantle of Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington and Ralph Bunche and Langston Hughes and George Washington Carver and Ralph Abernathy and Thurgood Marshall and, yes, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. These men were many things to many people and they knew full well the role that racism played in their life. It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Ironically, the attack was reminiscent of the one in Benghazi he has repeatedly denied the Administration he represents bears any responsibility for. “Changed twelve times?!” came the cries. And with good reason. We were misled; no, lied to.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

Washington – Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-MO, issued a video statement Friday in response to reports that the Internal Revenue Service unfairly targeted conservative nonprofit groups. (Snip) “There’s a reason Lady Justice wears a blindfold in America. That is because in America, we don’t apply the law based on who you are, who you know, or what you believe. We apply the law equally.” “We should not only fire the head of the IRS, which has occurred, but we’ve got to go down the line and find every single person who had anything to do with this and make sure

"Can you see in your mind´s eye a way that this might not have been political, that this was a misguided stupid way to sort, but that they didn´t intend it to be some kind of political attempt to harass the Tea Party?" So actually asked CNN´s Candy Crowley of her guest Sen. There will be lots more hearings coming up this week
