| Officials in Virginia and Ohio, once reliably red states that have gone for President Obama in the past two elections, have discussed the idea of apportioning their electoral votes by congressional district — a system some say would more accurately reflect the will of the states’ voters but one that others dismiss as an unnecessary political ploy. The talks come as demographic shifts have pushed the GOP’s reliable bastions to more exurban and rural areas, allowing Democrats to win such states by sufficiently running up their margins in a comparatively small number of densely-populated cities and counties.

It would be a great thing, particlarly since it would deny the fraud in some districts to overwhelm others.
Get this idea into California where the Dems would have had 18 fewer, and candidates would have to campaign in that state.
If your congressional district voted GOP but the state ended up DEM, then you´re votes have been disenfranchised by allocating it to someone else.

I´m in. Congressional district or by county. Now the electoral college is decided by a few cities where the education system is awful.

If all states did this, it could greatly change the flavor of the contest. It was a foregone conclusion that Texas would go Republican, so neither candidate came here, neither campaign used ads here, neither paid any attention at all to issues here. On the other hand. Ohio and Florida were inundated with attention. Is it truly helpful to have candidates ignore large areas of the country? Policies just might make more sense if they had to consider all 50 states instead of just worrying about what Ohio would say.

On the surface this seems like a good idea. This would dilute the power of the big cities somewhat which will always vote for Santa Claus. In the rural districts, where people work their land everyday, they would vote against Santa Claus, preferring to keep most of what they earned.
Common sense tells me there is a downside to this but I can´t put my finger on what that might be. So, in the meantime, put me down as being in favor.

This, along with going back towards the original population apportionment of representatives would go a long way towards making the politicians more responsive to the people, instead of ´the party´. (And with a lot more than 435 members in the house, it´d be even more gridlocked, which would be a good thing for the country.

I believe Maine and Nebraska do this.
By Congressional District is the way to go. That leaves two Electors which can go to the state´s popular vote winner or be chosen another way.
Off topic a little. Avoiding a national popular vote is vital. Leave elections to the states.

What do you do when your base is angry about Guantanamo? I guess that you promise to close it again. You also blame Congress for not giving you the money to do it. The problem is that it was a Congress controlled by Democrats that did not provide the funding. What about drones? You promise that we will "drone" more carefully from now on. Let´s hope that the terrorists will cooperate by keeping children away from them. What about tapping reporters phones? You say that it was about national security and because that "darn Congress"

The emergency operating room where doctors tried to save President Kennedy´s life after he was shot has been broken into pieces and covertly stored in crates for years, guarded as if it were a state secret. As the 50th anniversary in November of the President´s assassination nears, an investigative team from local Dallas station WFAA went digging for the exact location of the broken tiles and medical equipment used on that fateful day. Every Memorial Day, when I run into the grocery store to pick up those last minute items for the three day weekend’s picnic, I’m met with members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) selling their poppies. We cherish, too, the poppy red/ that grows on fields where valor led; It seems to signal to the skies/that blood of heroes never dies-- “We Shall Keep the Faith” by Moina Michael -I remember as a kid that it was very common to see paper poppies being sold around Memorial Day. You could even go to the post office and purchase one

A 17-year-old boy and 22-year-old man were killed within hours of each other in separate West Side attacks Friday night, and a 29-year-old man was killed on the South Side, officials said. The youngest of the three killed was with an 18-year-old friend; both were shot about 11:30 p.m. in the 400 block of North Central Avenue in the Austin neighborhood. Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”
