| The terrible British conceit that we are the only Anglophone nation with a sense of humour has been laid bare by the news that Anna Wintour is in the running to be America´s next ambassador to either Britain or France. Politicians of every hue, from Dave to Mr Leader, fell over themselves to offer Barack Obama their backing during his election campaign. Their support, it appears, was less important than Ms Wintour´s. Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012, acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath.
