| Port Authority police officers earn far more on an hourly basis than their counterparts in most surrounding law enforcement agencies, including 57 percent more than New Jersey state troopers, according to a report released today by a citizen watchdog group. Officers employed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey earn 32 percent more than New York state troopers, 25 to 48 percent more than counterparts in the region’s urban municipal police departments, including the NYPD, and 23 percent more than federal agents in the two states, according to a report by the Citizens Budget Commission,

Article says these guys take in $83.99 an hour, on average. Roll in the pensions and other goodies, and you´re talking a really cushy ride, all on the backs of the chumps who pay tolls.
I´m in the wrong line of work.

I always thought NYS Troopers union was the most greedy. Apparently they´re pikers compared to the Port Authority. Now you know why bridge fees have to be raised.

Trenton — As Congress debates an overhaul to the federal immigration system, New Jersey lawmakers again took up controversial legislation today that would allow students living in the country illegally to pay in-state tuition at the state’s public colleges. The bill, dubbed the “Tuition Equality Act,” was approved by the state Assembly Budget Committee after a lengthy hearing in Trenton. The crowd in the chamber, which included immigrant students who have been pushing for the change for years, cheered as the committee moved the bill. The legislation will now go to the full Assembly for a vote.

Passengers on NJ Transit’s No. 113 Express bus were taken on a ride from hell during Thursday’s morning rush when a lost driver took a really scenic route to New York, leaving commuters nearly two hours late for work. The express from Dunellen to the Port Authority Bus Terminal became a local—and then some. Passenger Aileen Iosso sent this text to her boss: "I don’t know where I am and I don’t know when I’ll be in." Chris Christie today to talk about New Jersey´s recovery from Hurricane Sandy—touching on the state´s emotional connection to the Shore, the need for another source of flood insurance, and the governor´s famous "get the hell off the beach" comment. The interview closed out a three-day conference in Chicago held by the Clinton Global Initiative, the organization Clinton founded. Sandy devastated New Jersey—especially its shoreline—last fall, leaving million without power and seriously damaging hundreds of thousands of homes. Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.
