| President Obama loves to insert himself in other people’s biographies. He also loves to honor people, most recently Neil Armstrong and Vice President Biden, with pictures of himself. All. About. Him. His laser-like focus never wavers from his own image. And the narcissism continues: To honor the 57th anniversary of the day Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus, President Obama paid homage with a picture of himself.
|
Comments: You have to see the picture! He actually posed for this.

This must appeal to the President´s supporters. Seems so ...odd, though, to step into a historic setting, placing himself in place of the history-making person.
As image-making, a case could be argued for the logic of it; the symbolism. From the perspective of political identity, Americans historically have preferred self-effacing leaders.
Seems of a part with the social-promotion, end-zone dance, "look out for number one," culture now current.
One´s personal opinion may be this is creepy and unbecoming, but a majority of the electorate appear to approve.
Seems to to speak well of traditional, bourgeois strength of character. Such a notion is of course outdated and laughable.

What a doofus------Rosa Parks was Black, obama half and half--so is that why he is sitting in the middle of the bus?
Wonder where Biden hung his pix of the doofus--in the bathroom? And, Neil Armstrong--did he place his photo at the memorial services instead of Neil´s? What a DUMB Doofus!

Comments are worth a read. I like the one that says this is the bus Obama has been throwing everyone under. In the pic he looks as though he´s looking at his reflection. I cannot believe that anyone on his staff, in his administration, suggested this photo op. It comes from either himself or The Mooche.

From his main constituents point of view... it cements the historical nature of an African American being POTUS.
However, as an honor to Rosa Parks, it is laughable. It is all about him, him, him...
It gives greater meaning to the finger flipping at the financial mess we are in, or the ability to play golf and plan a vacation when the rest of the country is struggling.

Obama would make a terrific dictator for some third-world type country. He fits the profile perfectly. Haiti would be a good place. He could declare himself president for life and the Haitians would love it. His "reign of terror" would not be missed in the U.S. nor would his Mussolini like poses.

Unfortunately over half of the voters in the USA today don´t have the intelligence to detect any sort of a problem with Barack Obama posing and sitting on the Rosa Parks bus. They are told over and over again that Obama is doing the best that he can against US institutional racism and that is good enough for them.

I can´t imagine Dwight Eisenhower, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, or George W. Bush doing something that is at once so narcissitic and yet so unconscious of the enormous ego on display.
I guess I don´t get it. Are we supposed to think more highly of Rosa Parks because our pResident chose to have himself photographed as she is remembered in history.
On Presidents´ day will he have himself photographed on his knees in the snow praying just before crossing the Delaware, or addressing masses of people at Gettysburg?
Oops...sorry, may have given him ideas.....

Australia faced the same problem about 25 years ago and dealt with it by a simple amendment to the Citizenship Act. " A person born in Australia is only a citizen of Australia by birth, if at least one of his parents is a citizen of Australia or is a legal permanent resident of Australia." Simple and clean.
Some very narrow provisions for persons who are otherwise stateless.

I put up a church flag that has a cross on it to serve as a reminder that my only true King is the one who bore the pain and death of the cross and that, as Jesus´ subject, I am called to carry the cross and follow Jesus. I will NOT follow Obama.
King Jesus humbled himself and served. Would-be "King Obama" promotes himself and goes to Hawaii for Christmas--on OUR (the taxpayers´) dime.

Incredible? Not with this president.
If he had his way, his enormous face would be plastered on buildings, public and historic squares or areas and on billboards along our highways - as we´ve seen in the Soviet Union, Communist China and Germany in the 30´s and 40´s.
Obama is an extreme narcissist with power - what a sad and dangerous situation for America.

Why is it unfair criticism, #24? Everything is about him. His extreme narcissism is grotesque. He is self-absorbed without being self-aware.
He did the same when Neil Armstrong died. How about actually honoring the people he claims to honor by posting a picture of them, along with their accomplishments?
He has done nothing worthwhile, but he inserts himself into history as though he has. Winning the utterly undeserved Nobel Prize is no accomplishment, either.

Great presidents show humility because they do realize the enormous power they wield. This man is incapable of humility and given his power, that is a very, very dangerous thing.
It is nearly a month since the election and still every morning I wake up with dread and thinking how could this have happened and how our country will suffer over these next 4 years. God help us all.

It doesn´t matter when he posed or where he posed - the sorry truth is that he attempted to insert himself into a part of (manufactured) history of which he had no part. It was never his struggle - he didn´t even identify himself as black until he was in college and he saw it as fortuitous to do so. By this sordid photo opportunity, he is desecrating what many of his followers hold sacred. Shame on him.

What´s next, the New 3- year plan? Communist Propaganda is truly scary.

Obama puts me in mind of Zelig, the neurotic Woody Allen character.
It´s always about him, whether it´s Neal Armstrong´s death, Rosa Parks´ anniversary, or just a speech where he says "I" more than any other pronoun.

"So where is this cliff I keep hearing about, I don´t see no cliff"
"Wow what a hansom dude in the window"
"Rosa Parks?... I´ve heard that name somewhere"
"And people actually traveled on these things?"
"Hey I hope all you journalists get my good side!"
"How dang long to I have to sit here before someone takes a picture? I got campaigning to do"
Some Obama thoughts...

A comment under the article states that conservatives just don´t get it....that O has intentionally placed himself in a seat in which 50 years ago he could have been arrested for sitting there. In other words....Obama is justified to sit there making such a magnanimous tribute to Rosa because now He, a Black man, can sit where he wants to - in fact, he - a Black man - has become president...all due to Rosa. This reminds me of a recently retired bishop who in his closing newsletter thanked the countless people who throughout the years who had been touched by his writing. Yeah - I used to be conceited; I am now perfect. s/off

Marco Rubio was not amused. The senator from Florida had listened patiently as a panel of hand-picked conservatives, lined up across a long table at the front of the room, took turns speaking about the prospects of immigration reform.(snip)Referencing a Jay Leno one-liner, Burgess questioned fellow conservatives about the wisdom of giving citizenship to "11 million undocumented Democrats." Laughter, some of it nervous, spread throughout the room. But not everyone found Burgess´ crack funny. According to several people who attended the June 5th gathering, Rubio glared at Burgess.

Is Marco Rubio, R-Fla., getting played by Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.? During his interview with ABC’s Jonathan Karl this morning, Rubio didn’t even seem to understand what that meant. “Are you being played by the Democrats?” asked Karl. “Is Chuck Schumer playing you?” “I don’t — I quite frankly, I don’t even know what that means,” Rubio replied. “Is he using you?” Karl continued. “Is he using you to try to accomplish something that the Democrats want and is not — not a conservative bill?” Rubio responded that immigration reform was a bi-partisan issue that “all Americans

Gang of Eight member Bob Menendez advised Republicans to accept legalization status for current illegal immigrants if they ever want to see another president from their party. “I would tell my Republican colleagues — both in the House and the Senate — that the road to the White House comes through a road with a pathway to legalization,” the New Jersey senator said on State of the Union this morning. “Without it, there’ll never be a road to the White House for the Republican party.” Menendez also warned of triggers on border security

An employee of Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) president Grover Norquist and a political ally of “Gang of Eight” member Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) believe groups opposed to the immigration bill pending in the U.S. Senate are "nativists," Breitbart News has learned. ATR’s Josh Culling and Hispanic Leadership Fund (HLF) president Mario Lopez will make the argument on a conference call with mainstream media reporters on Friday at 11 AM EDT. Brad Bailey of the organization called Texas Immigration Studies will join them on the call. “As the momentum behind immigration reform continues to

The Senate has rejected an amendment to the Gang of Eight bill calling for a “border security first” approach to immigration reform. A motion to table the amendment, which was authored by Republican senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa and previously defeated in the Judiciary Committee, passed 57 to 43, largely on party lines. The measure would have required the Department of Homeland Security to demonstarate effective security of the southern border for six months before illegal immigration are granted legal status. The Gang’s proposal would provide legal status before additional border security measures are measured or implemented.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc has in recent months been only hiring temporary workers at many of its U.S. stores, the first time the world´s largest retailer has done so outside of the holiday shopping season. A Reuters survey of 52 stores run by the largest U.S. private employer in the past month, including one in every U.S. state, showed that 27 were hiring only temps, 20 were hiring a combination of regular full, part-time and temp jobs, and five were not hiring at all. The survey

Democrats terrify Hispanics into thinking they’ll be lynched if they vote for Republicans, and then turn around and taunt Republicans for not winning a majority of the Hispanic vote. This line of attack has real resonance with our stupidest Republicans. (Proposed Republican primary targets: Sens. Kelly Ayotte, Jeff Flake, Lindsey Graham and Marco Rubio.) Which explains why Republicans are devoting all their energy to slightly increasing their share of the Hispanic vote while alienating everyone else in America. It must be fun for liberals to manipulate Republicans into focusing on hopeless causes

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

As NewsBusters reported last week, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin called out vulgarian comedian Bill Maher for referring to her Down Syndrome son Trig as "retarded." On ABC´s The View Monday, co-host Barbara Walters astonishingly defended Maher saying, "I don´t think he intended it to be mean-spirited" (video follows with transcript and commentary): WHOOPI GOLDBERG: At a recent standup show in Las Vegas, comedian Bill Maher apparently called Sarah Palin’s five-year-old developmentally-challenged son Trig retarded. And Sarah blasted him on Twitter as a bully. Is that, is it, is he a bully? Is he a bad, what is he?

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.
