| MOSCOW - Thousands of trucks and cars have been stuck on a major highway, some for more than two days, in a traffic jam dozens of kilometers (miles) long caused by heavy snow northwest of Moscow, Russian media reported on Sunday.Police in the Tver region said field kitchens were operating on the road, but many drivers complained supplies never reached them and they were running out of gasoline to keep their engines running and heating on in subzero temperatures.

The Russian winter has been known to stop whole armies in its tracks. I hope the motorists get unstranded before they freeze to death.

Blizzards and subzero cold in Russian in December? Impossible. I have it on the very highest authority that global warming has stopped all of this. s/off
Seriously, I have spent many years being driven around in Russia and Russian roads are a seriously subpar and at least 20% of Russian drivers are suicidal lunatics with a very limited grasp of the laws of physics. Look on Youtube for Russian driving videos. Lawlessness is so rampant that many drivers in Russia today have dashcams to provide proof of faked accidents perpetrated on them, so there is lots of opportunistic video of completely insane driving "accidents". Many are so predictable as to almost defy the definition of ´accident´.
Add slick roads and you have a recipe for disaster.

Former News Corp president Peter Chernin has bid around $500 million for Hulu, the online video streaming service he helped create in 2007, according to two sources with knowledge of Hulu´s sale process. After lengthy investigations, the Pentagon has determined that three Army generals committed misconduct in separate incidents, adding to an unusually long list of senior military commanders who have been censured over the past year.On Friday, defense officials confirmed that Army Maj. Gen. Ralph O. Baker, the commander of a strategic counterterrorism force on the Horn of Africa, was fired March 28 on charges of sexual misconduct.
