U.S. birth rate plummets to
its lowest level since 1920

The U.S. birth rate plunged last year to a record low, with the decline being led by immigrant women hit hard by the recession, according to a study released Thursday by the Pew Research Center. The overall birth rate declined by 8 percent between 2007 and 2010, with a decrease of 6 percent among U.S.-born women and 14 percent among foreign-born women. (Snip) The overall birth rate is now at its lowest since 1920, the earliest year with reliable records. The decline could have far-reaching implications for U.S. economic and social policy. A continuing decline would challenge long-held assumptions

Well, looks like their may be not enough little worker bees down the pike to pay for all the things that government wants to give away.

I love it! I just love it! These friggin´ politicians and bureaucrats are always betting on the come, always counting their chickens before they hatch (pun intended). All these freebies they´re passing out are based on things they hope might happen in the future. They´ve never heard of Murphy´s Law. I´m ready for this whole mess to go totally belly up, so we can just start over again.

It´s easily understood. Women have been taught to hate men. You aren´t going to make babies like that.

It is the economy. And, it´s a major demographic time bomb. We need to keep our birth rate at replacement levels or cease to be a world power.

Who in their right mind would want to bring a child into the post-apocalyptic socialist hell of Obama´s America?

People are selling futures because there is no future.

The birth rate dropped during the Depression, too. Bad economic times make it hard for women to see the point in having children.

That or the free birth control... take your pick.

Plus, #2 & #3, today´s American women clearly are lots more interested in a BMW convertible, shopping, lunching, and putting in time in a sweat-soaked sports bra than giving a hoot about babies, the future, civilization, and life.

Why wouldn´t there be less born? Not because there are no pregnancies but because so many prefer abortion, which taxpayers pay for a lot of them. Same sex marriages which in no way can conceive a child, plus morning after pills, week after pills and numerous other ways of not getting pregnant.
There are a lot of births occuring but not so many of the white race but citizens of other races and cultures.

Obama is an excellent contraceptive.

I am a happily married women who probably has enough years left for one more baby and would love to have another. I am scared to death by Obama. Uncertainty, a husband working his self to death to take care of us now, the 10 months he spent out of work thanks to Obama, and a crappy economy that doesn´t seem to be getting any better makes good conservative women like me frightened to bring another child into this world.

You may not like to hear this but it is the truth for so many of us.

If I were in child-bearing years today, I would think twice about bringing a child into this world. Because of the coarsening of culture, I feel today that we are casting my dear grand-daughters to live with dogs. I fear for them.

I am a student of history by inclination and education, and I realize that society has always had coarseness, but somehow today it is much more public, and much more glorified by the public at large.

My grandchildren will never know that life in the U.S. was once otherwise.

The U.S. of my childhood is no more. Our eyes and ears are assaulted constantly by vulgarity, crudeness, and the disrespect of women. The bottom sector culturally have taken over public life. Men who would have been taken out and whipped in previous times are now in the "cultural elite" in public venues. And our young girls are in droves considering them to be fit "baby daddies." I won´t say husbands, because marriage today seems to be disappearing.

Washington - The Obama administration is putting off its decision on the Keystone XL oil pipeline, likely until after the November elections, by extending its review of the controversial project indefinitely. In a surprise announcement Friday as Washington was winding down for Easter, the State Department said federal agencies will have more time to weigh in on the politically fraught decision — but declined to say how much longer. Officials said the decision will have to wait for the dust to settle in Nebraska, where a judge in February overturned a state law that allowed the pipeline´s path through the state.

Washington - The National Archives on Friday released its largest batch yet of previously withheld documents from the Clinton administration, with topics including the conflicts in Somalia and Rwanda, Middle East peace negotiations, the Oklahoma City bombing and public figures as varied as Richard M. Nixon and Oprah Winfrey. The bundle that is likely to receive the most attention, though, is one that covers Hillary Rodham Clinton’s ill-fated attempt as first lady to overhaul the health care system. Mrs. Clinton, who ran for president in 2008, is considering a second attempt in 2016. Here are some notable sections:

Washington - The CIA’s former top lawyer disputes Senate findings that the spy agency lied about its brutal interrogations of terrorists, insisting the tactics produced useful intelligence and flatly denying that the CIA misled the former Bush administration, Congress and the American public. At the same time, John Rizzo, who left the CIA as acting general counsel in 2009, said some CIA employees or contractors were overzealous in the use of the tactics but that the CIA informed lawyers at the Justice Department of the excesses. Rizzo was responsible for helping to create the legal foundation for permitting waterboarding,

General Motors Co said it would ask a U.S. court to bar lawsuits related to actions before its 2009 bankruptcy, signaling a tougher stance toward legal claims stemming from its recent recall over faulty ignition switches. GM has said it is protected from liability for claims related to incidents that occurred before it exited bankruptcy in 2009, and has taken steps to raise those issues with the court by filing motions to stay recall-related lawsuits while it asks that bankruptcy court to clarify the extent of that protection. In a filing with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas on Tuesday, GM asked for a stay on litigation

Beijing - Chinese President Xi Jinping plans to use a purge of senior officials suspected of corruption to put his own men and reform-minded bureaucrats into key positions across the Communist Party, the government and the military, sources said. Xi hopes that removing corrupt officials and those resisting change will allow him to consolidate his grip on power and implement difficult economic, judicial and military reforms that he believes are vital to perpetuate one-party rule, said the sources, who have ties to the leadership. In the most far-reaching example of his intentions, Xi plans to promote about 200 progressive officials

According to a new study, spooning with your partner really does say something about your relationship. Researchers from the University of Hertfordshire surveyed 1,000 people and found that couples who maintained physical contact while they slept were more likely to report being happy in their relationship. An overwhelming 94% of couples who touch while sleeping said they were happy, while only 68% of couples who didn’t touch while snoozing expressed being satisfied with their relationship. Not only that, physical distance while sleeping seemed to translate into emotional distance.

After presenting at the Academy Awards this year, Kim Novak didn’t want to leave her house. The Hitchcock screen siren, 81, was too humiliated to venture from her home near the Rogue River in Oregon. President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

It’s the stuff of Westerns: a showdown on the desert plains, the big bad government against an underdog farmer. Though the story has only grabbed national headlines in the past several days, rancher Cliven Bundy has illegally grazed cattle on the Nevada land surrounding his farm for over 20 years. He hasn’t paid grazing fees since 1993, and refuses to renew the necessary grazing permit.(Snip)Rather than using the avenues and pathways presented to him, Bundy has staunchly declared his own law and allegiances. Unfortunately, reality doesn’t work this way. If only it did—we could rebel for paying stupid taxes, refuse to

A group of seven multiracial Washington and Lee University (W&L) students are demanding the school remove all Confederate flags from campus and "acknowledge" General Robert E. Lee´s "dishonorable side." According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves ´The Committee,´" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." The students say they will "engage in civil disobedience" if their demands are not met by September 1st. They added: "The

To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?
