| Local lawmakers are fuming over an Obama administration policy promoting welfare and EBT benefits for immigrants, with a “welcome” package and promotional website that encourage new arrivals to take advantage of the nation’s generous government largesse. “I think it’s a complete outrage that we’re encouraging people coming here to get on public assistance,” said state Rep. Shaunna O’Connell, a Taunton Republican who has fought for EBT reform. “We should be encouraging people to be self-sufficient. These programs are rampant with fraud and abuse.”

I thought one of the tenets of the left is that there are too many people. Why except for their voter registration would they encourage more people to come. They don´t need their votes they can supply them quite effectively.

Allegedly Obama does not "need" votes anymore, because allegedly he will leave office after 4 more loooong years.

The candidates are sparring in an hour long debate Tuesday night at the studios of WGBH-TV. The debate is sponsored by a consortium of Boston media outlets. The matchup comes as Gomez struggles to close a gap with Markey, who has held a modest lead in recent polls. Gomez has portrayed Markey as an entrenched Washington insider, while Markey said Gomez is beholden to the national Republican agenda.

BOSTON —For the first time in more than 20 years, the July 4 Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular will not be televised nationally. The Boston Globe reports that CBS declined to renew a contract with producers of the show, which will appear on local TV. The show´s executive producer, David Mugar, says ratings for the Independence Day event have fallen in recent years.??The Boston Pops concert and fireworks show draw more than 500,000 visitors to the Charles River Esplanade, free of charge.??The show has featured stars such as Jennifer Hudson and Martina McBride.

AMMAN - Jordan´s King Abdullah said on Sunday the kingdom was ready to fight to protect itself against any threat to its security from the escalating civil war in neighboring Syria. BELCHERTOWN, Mass. — State police are appealing a decision by a clerk magistrate not to issue criminal complaints against seven people allegedly found trespassing at the Quabbin Reservoir last month. The five men and two women weren´t arrested, but went to district court in Belchertown for a show-cause hearing, where the clerk issued a continuance without a finding and declined to issue criminal complaints.(Snip) They told police their curiosity was professional.

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — State Police blocked the access road to the aqueduct just before noon as members of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA), along with detectives from the State Police and Framingham Police Department, began investigating the scene. MWRA spokesperson Ria Convery said the cut locks were discovered this morning and that the hatches could not have been unlocked for long because the MWRA conducts regular checks at the aqueduct. Convery would not speak to the frequency of the checks because of terrorism concerns.

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.
