| Less than two weeks since the last presidential election, campaign advisors, lobbying firms and conservative activists are already holding meetings to mull which of the potential 2016 Republican candidates to bank on. Several GOP activists and sources said that of all those who might enter the race, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie are on top, with the B-list including Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, Ohio Sen. Rob Portman, South Dakota Sen. John Thune, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and

Looks like the Republican establishment types are shaping up another Democrat Lite type slate of national candidates for the Republicans.
They should remember that next time around, they will be going up against whoever the liberal Democrats nominate, either Hillary Clinton or another Obama clone, and on top of that, will have both Barack Obama and Bill Clinton essentially campaigning again for whoever the liberal Democrats put up, and you just know they would love to run against another Bush.

Jeb was governor of FL. He did a good job. I like him. But we don´t need any more Bushes in the White House. He would never win for that very reason.
Sarah Palin could. We would not have lost to O if she´d been in either place on the ticket. As for Christie, sorry pal, you used up your well thought of position when you kissed O´s butt after the hurricane.
I still like Newt, although I guess his time is passed. Paul Ryan impressed me. There are good people still but if Rove and his elitist buddies pick another RINO, I´m like another poster here, I´d vote for Obama fist.

The real problem with this is not the names being floated - who else would you expect to be mentioned at this point? - but with the very notion that GOP 2016 will matter at all. Financial collapse, a permanent socialist votng majority (a key Obama goal) and a federal court system completely unmoored from the Constitution will render all of this meaningless.

Gee who opened the gate and let all the weird thinking folks in here? You have to be for bad mouthing Jeb simply because of his Dad or his family. This is about the average mentality of the country lately. Didn´t your mommy teach you "if you can´t speak nicely about someone then shut your diarrhea mouth". You folks bad mouth everyone so much you will never get any decent people to run for office. Why should they when you have so much hate in your hearts?
I lived in Fla when he was Governor and he was well regarded and did a great job, especially far superior to either Bush 41 or 43 when it came to hurricanes. He had a competent staff and good communications up and down the state, part of which I was involved in.
He has to be 200% better than what we have now and if anyone thinks otherwise I´d wonder about what you really are.
Truthfully, I would far prefer the Tea Party become a recognized Party and put up their own candidates for President, VP and both Houses of Congress. We would be far closer to returning to our Constitution and our Republic.
Since you folks like to play the "know it all" card, without looking it up, let´s see you list the NINE specific DUTIES of the President of the US and where would you find them listed. Once you figure that out then you can start looking for someone who will do THOSE duties.

As I recall, Jeb withdrew from presidential politics when his daughter was arrested several times for prescription drug shopping and his wife tried to bring in thousands of dollars goods without declaring them. It was then that GW was pushed to the front. Didn´t Bush 41 and Jeb visit zippy in the WH before election- why? Was the fix in? Christie is a fat slob without any scruples who would sell out the country for a hug for Springsteen.

How about the American Freedom Party, combining the Tea Party, the Libertarians, and the Blue dog Democrats.
Then maybe if the Republicans gets rid of Rove, Bush, Christie, and the other Progressives we could let them speak.
We would become the Big Tent for Americans, like the Democrats are the Big Tent for Socialist, Illegals, and Minorities.

I don´t think any of the names being bounced around right now deserve the harshness of some of these comments. Try to keep the blood pressure under control, guys. It´s really easy to stand back and say "no". I can think of few that I would hate to vote for in 2016, but I would be there if necessary. Jeb Bush was a good governor. He might have been the Republican nominee in 2008 if he had won his governership at the same time Dubya was winning his. Jeb was always thought to be a better candidate. Christie´s constituents seem to believe he is a good governor, too. So do Jindal´s supporters. I would remind the Palin hopers that she has never indicated she would like to run for President and is apparently happy in Alaska. That chance has passed. Probably there are some names none of us have considered. I´m hoping there is a spot for Susana Martinez. After all, we´ve got lots of time to think about it.

I have always voted. No matter who the Repub candidate was. I marched to the poll and cast my vote. Never again. I will either not vote or do a write in vote. Jeb, Christie, or any other liberal Repub will not get my vote again. First of all they would lose. And, second they are worse than a Dem because at least with a Dem we can fight. When there is a viper in the nest we have a harder time resisting. So, if that makes me responsible for Obama and other Dems winning..then so be it. They will win anyway. But at least I can make a statement that the Repubs are no better. That is how I will vote. Never never never again will I vote for an establishment Repub. I warned the Romney supporters on Lucianne that this was the last time.

I see absolutely nobody in the GOP who can excite voters in 2016. Jindal? Forget it, he`s too short. Jeb Bush? Are you kidding? Christie? No way. Paul Ryan? Not forceful enough. All the Media has to do is say he was Romney`s running mate and he`s finished. Rubio? His 6 year term is up in 2016. It`s one or the other, but Hispanics won`t vote for him unless he`s willing to give them free stuff.

Thanks for your "concern", #52. I was not a Romney fan, but, I sent him a chunk of money and voted for him, and I did the same thing for McCain. I have voted in every major election since 1972. I understand the math about withholding my vote, I know that in reality it saves the opponent two votes, the one they needed to tie and the one needed to go ahead. But, Christie is a HUGE Liberal and his slobbering all over obama and springsteen has disgusted me to the point that he will never get my vote.

Agree #30. A mean spirit dwells here now. Maybe it´s because we´re all so traumatized by Barak Hussein Obama. Maybe it was because a lot of us didn´t want Mitt Romney & now we´ve been proven right. I sure didn´t want to be right!! It gives me no pleasure whatsoever.
We have to stop shooting each other, folks. We´ve got to unite to fight this foe! I will do everything in my power to get the GOP to realize they can´t nominate another moderate ever, or they will lose massive amounts of us to staying home, or the Tea Party, & others. That includes Jeb Bush & Chris Christie.

It does not matter because the liberal New York based media and information industries are not about to let another Republican into the White House as long as they are around to build up whoever the liberal Democrats put up.
After his love fest with Obama a week before the election, Christie will never be able to pull enough votes from the Republican States to get the Republican nomination. He will be a New Jersey politician for as long as he lives, and that will not be long if he does not lose a couple of hundred pounds.

They pick Jeb for the Catholic and Hispanic demographic. His undoing as a candidate will simply be that he´s "Another Bush". Christie´s hobbled before he starts, as his praise of Obama just before the election sowed skepticism among the Conservative base.

I think the problem is that it is too soon to talk about ANY election right now. We are only two weeks away from the previous FOUR year campaign. I don´ think it is healthy to even want to think about 2014 or 2016 at this time We all should take a break from it until at least after January 1st. Personally I would like to take at least a year off thinking about 2016.

I´m with #63´s sentiments, as I am frequently, both as to warming up to Romney to where I voted ´for´ him, not just against Barry the Fraud, and about the state of the country in 2016. The country needs another Reagan. The Repubs might not want another Reagan, but the country does. And to go along with the next ´Reagan´ a reincarnation of Sen. No - Jesse Helms - to be Sen Majority Leader.
But, as I stated up thread, can we concentrate on 2014 first.

I think Romney is a good man and would be a far better President than what we are stuck with for four more long years. I am not happy with the Tea Party as all I get from them is more request for more money and I don´t think Conservatives and Libertarians are a good match, their idea of drugs for anyone or everybody is not a conservative concept. But I am like many of you folks, the Republicans better come up with a Conservative nominee or I will not be voting.

Christycreme is dead to me. Kissed zero´s butt and double crossed Mittens without even giving it a second thought. I hope the Tea Party forms as a viable party with candidates. I am done with the doves, mcpains and mittens as candidates. We need a conservative candidate that is willing to win. People need to be educated. Look, already the media is tearing down Rubio, and the election is still nearly 48 months away. Decaf coffee candidates that the establishment picks to run are not effective. I will not give a dime to another Republican candidate. My money is on the tea party.

On Rush Limbaugh’s radio show this afternoon, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, denounced the Gang of Eight immigration reform bill, encouraging his audience to call their member of Congress to oppose the bill. Cruz noted there were about 20 Republican Senators that were on the fence about voting for the bill, but that he believed that it was “politically foolish” and “terrible for the country.” “It doesn’t fix the problem,” Cruz said. “We need to fix the problem, secure the borders and improve legal immigration.” Cruz dismissed the Congressional Budget Office report showing that the bill would actually decrease federal

President Obama´s visit to the Group of Eight summit has created a political row in Ireland after an outspoken liberal lawmaker on Wednesday denounced the U.S. president as a “war criminal” for his drone use and his decision to arm the Syrian rebels. Parliamentarian Clare Daly said her country´s government had showcased the country “as a nation of pimps, prostituting ourselves in return for a pat on the head,” The Irish Times reports. The “unprecedented slobbering” during Obama´s two-day visit to Northern Ireland, she said, had even led to speculation that “you were going to deck the

WASHINGTON — The CEO of the Associated Press told an audience Wednesday that the Department of Justice has succeeded in muzzling government employees from talking to AP reporters in the weeks since the seizure of AP phone records was revealed. “What I learned from our journalists should alarm everyone in this room and I think should alarm everyone in this country. The actions of the DOJ against AP are already having an impact beyond the specifics of this particular case,” AP CEO

Billionaire businessman Ronald Perelman has helped land the wife of Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor on the board of directors of Revlon—the latest politically connected appointment to the board of a company he controls. Perelman, 70, has been a political player for decades. He dishes out large campaign checks. He employs a team of lobbyists to patrol the nation’s capital to protect his business interests. And he has ensured that a steady stream of political elites land on the payrolls or boards of directors of his businesses. Among the political bold-named faces that have filled

President Obama on Tuesday downplayed Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s decision to suspend talks on a long-term security deal with the U.S. in protest of the launch of formal peace talks with the Taliban. Karzai also pulled out of peace talks with the Taliban the Obama administration agreed to hold in Qatar, which are to begin Thursday. Obama said his administration had always anticipated "difficult negotiations." "We had extensive conversations with President Karzai both before and after the Taliban opened the office in Doha," Obama told reporters at a joint press conference in Berlin with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

It probably wouldn´t have shocked political observers if Sen. Marco Rubio´s job approval ratings had taken a hit since becoming the Republican face of comprehensive immigration reform earlier this year. But the Florida Republican´s numbers in his home state are actually close to their best ever, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday, though the senator did get low marks from voters for his handling of both immigration and gun control. Rubio had a job approval rating of 51 percent to 35 percent, the survey of registered voters found.

PANORAMA CITY — School board members have approved a plan to rename a San Fernando Valley elementary school after First Lady Michelle Obama. Los Angeles Unified board members voted unanimously Tuesday to name Valley Region Elementary School No. 13 after Mrs. Obama. The campus, which was opened last August to relieve overcrowding at nearby elementary schools, focuses on healthy eating for students, a cause championed by Mrs. Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign. The First Lady was in Germany on Wednesday as President Obama meets with Prime Minister Angela Merkel and other leaders.

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

As NewsBusters reported last week, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin called out vulgarian comedian Bill Maher for referring to her Down Syndrome son Trig as "retarded." On ABC´s The View Monday, co-host Barbara Walters astonishingly defended Maher saying, "I don´t think he intended it to be mean-spirited" (video follows with transcript and commentary): WHOOPI GOLDBERG: At a recent standup show in Las Vegas, comedian Bill Maher apparently called Sarah Palin’s five-year-old developmentally-challenged son Trig retarded. And Sarah blasted him on Twitter as a bully. Is that, is it, is he a bully? Is he a bad, what is he?

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.
