The Liberal Gloat

WINNING an election doesn’t just offer the chance to govern the country. It offers a chance to feel morally and intellectually superior to the party you’ve just beaten. This is an inescapable aspect of democratic culture: no matter what reason tells us about the vagaries of politics, something in the American subconscious assumes that the voice of the people really is the voice of God, and that being part of a winning coalition must be a sign that you’re His chosen one as well. (Snip)Maybe it’s too soon to pierce this cloud of postelection smugness.

The left has no reason to gloat. They haven´t won over the hearts and minds of the majority of people and their votes were well paid for and maybe even stolen.Obamacare has 37% approval but somehow the personna Obama separated himself from the failed president Obama.

I wouldn´t believe Obama if he told me it was going to rain and I saw a guy outside building an ark.

Mr. Douthat assumes that liberals are "winning" elections. Who can be sure with so much voter fraud being perpetrated by the left to ensure that their pathetic boy king reigns for four more years. Put voter ID in place and you will see the truth. Romney won the 15 states with Voter ID, but I guess that it only coincidence, right?

Personally, I haven´t seen any gloating. All of the Democrats I´ve encountered since the election have been every bit as angry and hate-filled as they were before the election.

The author´s point is well taken. Democrats winning as the civilization is in decline is true. As they destroy the family and many become more atheistic their support grows. Morality counts regardless of what the Republican Establishment tells us. Surprising the editors at the NYT´s let this slip through.

We have voter ID in Florida and Romney still lost so that is no impediment to stealing an election. If we don´t have police officers enforcing the law in polling places we will never stop it.

So Satan´s minions are having a party because they "won."

I really doubt they have any clue what they´ve actually "won."

Obama didn´t win. There are so many stories of stealing it boggles the mind. One area had a voter registration of around 167,000. In the end, almost 250,000 voted there. That´s just one we know of, much less the almost 20,000 vote count for Obama in Philly, and zero, none, not one vote for Romney. That´s statistically impossible considering not everyone is going to mark the ballot in the right place. The libs can gloat, but they didn´t win - they cheated and stole yet another election.

Gloating is one thing, believing they have a license to demand the fruits of my labor is quite another. It took over 40 years to dumb people down enough that they expect me to feed and shelter them and provide them with phones. Now they are brazen and in your face demanding everything.
The way to stop elections such as the atrocity of Nov. 6 is to allow ONLY Federal taxpaying citizens to vote.
Unless the politicians in Washington learn that they are accountable to the taxPAYERS of this country, not the leeches..we are lost.

He´s right - Democrats have cobbled together a coalition that largely feeds on pathological behaviors. They are losing in a landslide those who are stable and productive members of society. What kind of America do you really want?

If you enjoy your gloat you´ll have to allow us our schadenfreude later. Why do I say later? It´s now. You voted deficits, Mideast war, unemployment, poverty, and national polarization, and you are going to get it. This time there´s no defense that you didn´t know or were lied to. Nope. It was clear. You went for it anyway. Down you go with him. He is headed for status as the most unpopular president in the history of the United States and the NYT is headed for the books as the institution that boosted him for a second chance when he hadn´t apologized for what he did with the first. Truly and strictly your fully-informed fault. Go ahead and gloat. Put your name on his re-election, loud and clear. Go Ahead.

If a dim could read this article, s/he might have a moment´s pause. I believe that this article is about as introspective as the dims are capable, wrapped up in their self-righteous holier than thou waxed paper as they are.

I´ve always thought the dims to be the party that exploits human weakness. The writer does a pretty good job of articulating that in a way that the dims´ digestive tract won´t reject the article outright.

On upcoming trip, Obama

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama will leave Tuesday for a four-nation trip to Asia, looking to recharge a focus on the region, an ambitious initiative that’s been sidetracked by domestic politics and international conflicts elsewhere. Yet even as Obama attempts to boost his effort to emphasize U.S. interest in Asia, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s intervention in Ukraine is complicating efforts to reassure Asian nations _ which share the region with an increasingly assertive China - that the U.S. is committed to their security. The administration’s efforts to refocus U.S. policy toward Asia were already being questioned in the region with the departure

While the media is obsessed with the Koch brothers this campaign season, a billionaire hedge fund manager from San Francisco just bought off the White House to the tune of $100 million in order to delay the Keystone XL pipeline decision. From Fox News: The Obama administration once again has punted on a final decision for the Keystone XL pipeline, announcing ahead of the holiday weekend it is extending a key review period indefinitely — a move that could push off a determination until after the midterm elections. A painting of President Barack Obama by a shock artist with a rape fetish hung in the White House for at least two years. Artist David Choe, known for his graffiti and shock art, rose to minor fame after drawing the murals in Facebook’s first offices. He hosts a Vice show centered on hitchhiking, has shown Anthony Bourdain around Los Angeles on Bourdain’s CNN show, “Parts Unknown,” and one of his paintings graced the walls of the White House from at least 2008-2010. But Choe also has a rape fetish. On the podcast that he co-hosts with porn star Asa Akira, he

One of the Obama administration’s favorite themes is the idea that Republicans have been waging a “war on women.” Though Democrats may overestimate the appeal of this canard, the notion that troglodyte conservatives seek to send American women back to the 19th century has become a form of conventional wisdom, especially in the liberal mainstream media. But though that war is a piece of fakery rooted in the confusion between political liberalism and gender equality, there is little doubt about the reality of another war on women: the one that is being waged by left-wing ideologues against any female Republican

Turning the tables remains the first refuge of liars called on their mendacity. “I was hurt,” Elizabeth Warren relays in her new autobiography, “and I was angry.” The second-year senator speaks of her 2012 political opponent using her claims of Native American ancestry against her during the campaign. Elizabeth Warren could pass for Bull Connor’s sister. She couldn’t pass for Sitting Bull’s second cousin five times removed. So when the 2012 debate descended into genealogists arguing over whether Warren’s great-great-great grandmother was or wasn’t partly Cherokee, the law-professor-turned-candidate winning the question meant that she had already lost it. How would American Indian

Timing is everything in politics and the latest Fox News poll suggests the timing of the 2014 midterm election could not be worse for President Obama and his fellow Democrats. With public approval of Congress in the single digits, senators and representatives in both parties may face the most challenging political environment of their careers. But the Fox survey makes clear that things aren´t breaking well for Obama, either, and his popularity rating may be the most important factor in determining how Democrats fare in November. Presidents have been unpopular before. Harry Truman´s approval rating sank to 23 percent at

After presenting at the Academy Awards this year, Kim Novak didn’t want to leave her house. The Hitchcock screen siren, 81, was too humiliated to venture from her home near the Rogue River in Oregon. President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

Lee´s "dishonorable side." According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves ´The Committee,´" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?
