Golden State turns to lead,
now leads poverty rankings

The Golden State has fallen on hard times, with a poverty rate that is now twice as bad as West Virginia’s and substantially worse than the rates of poverty in Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas and Texas, according to a new measure of poverty developed by the federal Census Bureau. Democrat-run California earned its last-place rank under the federal government’s new measure of poverty, which incorporates more detailed analyses of welfare payments and the local costs of food, gasoline and housing. (View the new census data report) The state’s costs are boosted by its environmental and workplace regulations,

Comments:
That´s what being ruled by leftists and allowing the unrestricted flow of illegals will get you. It is extremely sad to see a state so rich in natural resources (most especially the farmland) be destroyed by politics.

The sad things is the folks that voted for this disaster are the ones wealthy enough to move and destroy another state.

Gee, no kidding. And the Dems have the governor and a super-majority the assembly AND the senate.

(So the economic condition of the state is about to get worse... much worse.)

Anybody think that if the PRK was run by Republicans, that the alphabet networks would be running story after story about how the Republicans have mismanaged the economy?

Buts since its being run and mismanaged by the sacred democRATS, they remain silent.

No surprise. I wouldn´t care what happens to CA except for the fact that we will be asked to bail them out. They will then continue on their merry way spending and taxing until they need another bailout.

Import and breed enough third world human refuse and criminals long enough and you can wreck anything.

Of course, communism destroys everything it infects, so here is one more example.

Frankly, the biggest problem is failure to quarantine the infected masses fleeing this sewer and Californicating other states. Now they are moving to Colorado, Montana, and other states and the infection spreads.

My good friend works in a non-union support job in Oakland school district K-6). Several teachers at her school are almost exclusively working on union matters that have nothing to do with teaching students. The school which is considered middle-of-pack for the horribly performing district has about 30% population of students who are functionally illiterate in English and about another 30% who speak English but are several grade levels below those to which they are assigned. Average compensation for about 200 days of work per year is about $130k of which 40% is non salary (golden) benefit package cost. School runs pre-pre school, pre-school, after school, breakfast, lunch programs. Dozens of of no teaching personnel in baby sitting and cafeterai jobs

Just heard on the radio yesterday that the Democrats now have a super majority in both state houses and with Moonbeam as governor the Republicans can not stop anything they want to do. So get ready for massive new tax increases on everyone, more deficit spending on top of the $384 billion state debt as of today and poverty will increase at exponential rates. Barackoclaus and his Elf Governor Moonbeam will be the great heros. People vote Democrat because they want something from the government and they know Democrats will give it to them, no problem. They want people to be dependent on government, and they are becoming more dependent as evidenced by the statistics.
For Democrats, poverty means job security in their political careers.

California will continue to bleed job creators and skilled workers until Moonbeam signs an Executive Order making it against the law. Details could include no exiting the state by private vehicle, or with more than $10 in your pocket.

When people are willing to walk out broke, he´ll have to build a wall with armed guards.

We now know that the Justice Department kept exceptionally close tabs on Fox News reporter James Rosen in 2010, following his trips in and out of the State Department, hacking his personal emails and phone calls. Normal newsgathering activities are being treated as criminal activities by the White House. But consider what the same White House had to say about Fox News back in 2009. You might remember the concerted effort by White House officials to brand the right-leaning Fox News as a bogus news outlet, unworthy of attention.

Huma Abedin, former Secretary of State Hillary’s Clinton’s long time aide with extensive ties to Muslim Brotherhood groups, was granted an arrangement by the State Department to do outside consulting work, even as she remained a top advisor in the Department. Abedin did not disclose either the arrangement, or how much she earned from it, on her financial report, despite a requirement that public officials must disclose significant sources of income. Clinton advisor Philippe Reines contended she was under no obligation to do so. Abedin, who has served Clinton for 15 years, became a “special government employee”

A federal judge in Washington ruled in 2010 that the Justice Department was not required by law to notify Fox reporter James Rosen that prosecutors had obtained his emails in connection with an investigation into a leak about North Korean plans to test a nuclear weapon. In September 2010, Chief U.S. District Court Judge Royce Lamberth overruled the conclusion of federal magistrate John Facciola that Rosen—whose Gmail account was searched—was entitled by law to be informed. Prosecutors contended that under the statute used to get Rosen´s emails, the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, they were not

The Department of Justice released a statement moments ago amid reports of the department obtaining a subpoena in order to access Fox News reporter James Rosen´s personal emails. "Leaks of classified information to the press can pose a serious risk of harm to our national security and it is important that we pursue these matters using appropriate law enforcement tools. Such investigations and prosecutions, including this particular case, follow all applicable laws, regulations, and longstanding Department of Justice policies intended to safeguard the First Amendment interests of the press in reporting the news and the public in receiving it."

Michelle Malkin joined Megyn Kelly on Fox News Monday afternoon to discuss the latest developments in the investigation into the IRS targeting conservatives for audits. Malkin insisted it was not merely her “ideology” that has led to critique the Obama administration on their handling of the IRS issue and others, but rather the evidence she’s seen of their “bully brigade tactics” to “intimidate and criminalize their political opponents.” Malkin began by going after White House Press Secretary Jay Carney for his handling of the various Obama “scandals,” saying the “clown Carney press briefings have turned in

The Justice Department, already under fire for seizing AP phone records, also viewed e-mails of Fox News chief Washington correspondent James Rosen, calling him a criminal ´co-conspirator´ for his reporting. Fox News´ executive vice president of news, Michael Clemente, released a statement defending Rosen. The statement issued Monday afternoon is below: "We are outraged to learn today that James Rosen was named a criminal co-conspirator for simply doing his job as a reporter," Clemente said. Michael Steinbach, former head of the FBI’s counterterrorism division and now special agent in charge of Miami, told over 30 congressional staffers in March of 2012 that, contrary to the White House´s classification, the bureau does not refer to the Fort Hood shooting as "workplace violence." As head of the FBI counterterrorism division, Steinbach oversaw the investigation into the mass murder at Texas Army base. Steinbach made this claim during an unclassified counterterrorism briefing on Capitol Hill. “Do you guys teach your agents that Fort Hood was workplace violence?” one staffer asked.

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.
