| The U.S. Postal Service said its net loss last year widened to $15.9 billion, more than the $15 billion it had projected, as mail volume continued to drop, falling 5 percent. Without action by Congress, the service will run out of cash on Oct. 15, 2013, after it makes a required workers compensation payment to the U.S. Labor Department and before revenue typically jumps with holiday season mailing, Chief Financial Officer Joe Corbett said. The service, whose fiscal year ended Sept. 30, lost $5.1 billion a year earlier. It announced the net loss today

A Constitutional Monopoly, and they cannot break even. It is against the LAW for anyone but the USPS to deliver first class mail.
Imagine how efficient HealthCare will be.

I seem to remember that they were going to close some offices earlier in the year and then decided not to. Also they were talking about no Saturday delivery and possibly no Wednesday delivery. But, as we conservatives know, talk is cheap. Nothing done, deficit through the roof, no sweat, let´s talk some more.

Well, I sure hope they all got a raise or at least a bonus after having delivered all that glossy election mail. I worry that they might not be able to catch their breath before the hundreds , if not thousands, of Christma.....er, holiday cards have to be delivered or lost.

The US Post Office and the TSA need to be abolished and start over. These moronic overpaid people do not use good judgement, they do not provide even mediocre service, they just need to go away. I never use the post office; I pay my bills on-line, and I ship everything UPS or Fed Ex. For twenty years we were saddled with a postman who could barely speak English and he certainly could not deliver the mail to the right address. He has no retired with is Huge Pension.

Any private business would have gotten rid of the postmaster general, fired all of the employees and hired part time workers with no benefits years ago.
