| In a Friday afternoon bombshell, CIA Director David Petraeus resigned, citing an extramarital affair. Petraeus has been under fire recently for the CIA’s response to the Benghazi attack. The Cable’s Josh Rogin posted the letter of resignation: Yesterday afternoon, I went to the White House and asked the President to be allowed, for personal reasons, to resign from my position as D/CIA. After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair. Such behavior is unacceptable,

Someone had to fall on the sword. Maybe it was the general who drew the short straw. Who knows? I just dunno. The timing of this announcement of resignation, is more than coincidental, and suspicious, though.

We´re only seeing the beginning on this.If this was Panetta having an extramarital affair, people would just shrug their shoulders and he would continue to be the Pentagon chief.
Weiner would still be in office if not for some of the jock shots being aimed at underage girls. Two admitted crooks were happily re-elected in Chicago districts. Why all of a sudden the shock and dismay at at general P?
How did the FBI become involved in spying on the CIA chief?
If Petraeus was a go along to get along, typical Obama crook, this wouldn´t have come out.

Her husband did.
The word is that the second letter in the column linked below is from Broadwell´s husband, showing knowledge of the affair. More interesting is the reply from "The Ethicist" column author. Intriguing. From July of this year:

They "got" him. He dared to make a statement about Benghazi, and they got him.
The well-worn "Clinton defense". The only difference is he didn´t "deny, deny, deny" until the facts proved otherwise, so the next tactic was to "attack your accusers".
He also left out the part about trying to lessen the seriousness of the issue by saying "everyone else is doing it, so why should I take the fall".

I am very suspicious of the timing--hmmm-FBI investigation. When did Holder know about this? Assuming it was before the election, Obama also knew. Did the resignation letter go to Obama in person or was Valerie in the loop?

Are we really supposed to believe that the FBI, under Holder, didn´t tell Obama about this? That´s what the New York Times has written. They claim O was shocked by the news--after the election, of course.

Why didn´t Petraeus just say that he was resigning for personal reasons and leave it at that?
Was it because of the pending Benghazi scandal that he had to spell it out for political cover purposes?
Talk about falling on your sword!

What is stopping Petraeus from simply holding a press conference to tell all he knows about Benghazi? No need to wait for an "invitation" to testify before either the Senate or the House. I, for one, would love to hear what he knows (and when did he know it). Not to mention the same question re Obama.
Meanwhile, if he doesn´t do this he should stay away from Fort Marcy Park. Of course if we think the morons who voted for Obama give a whit about this, we are sadly mistaken.

The comparisons were inevitable: two guys who became a national punchline after being caught in sex scandals make a bid for a political comeback from disgrace. But once you get past the astonishment and the snickers, the differences are more significant than the similarities between Mark Sanford, the Republican former South Carolina governor elected in a landslide to his old House seat earlier this month, and Anthony Weiner, the Democratic ex-congressman who formally launched his bid for mayor of New York on Wednesday. It is true that both pose tests of the electorate’s capacity for forgiveness. But Sanford

The deadly twister that raked through Oklahoma did an estimated $2 billion in damage, which puts it on track to be the most expensive tornado in U.S. history. That’s the preliminary damage estimate the Oklahoma Insurance Department released Wednesday, two days after a monster twister flattened the city of Moore and killed 24 people, including nine children. The figure was double an earlier estimate. Insurance Department spokeswoman Calley Herth said the monetary damage caused by Monday’s tornado could be greater than the $2 billion in damage from the 2011 tornado that struck Joplin, Mo.

The union representing U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services officials will officially oppose the proposed Senate immigration reform legislation on Monday, according to an advance statement obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. The National Citizenship and Immigration Services Council (USCIS Council) says the legislation fails to address its top concerns about the current system, including the pressure on USCIS officers to approve visa applications without thorough review and the bureaucratic barricades that prevent them from coordinating with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement officials. Sources say it is highly unusual for the USCIS Council to weigh in publicly on legislation.

WASHINGTON — I WENT to New York last week to cover the TV presentations for the new season, shows like “Scandal,” “Shark Tank” and a faltering “American Idol.” I may as well have stayed here. You know that the faltering American idol in the White House must be reeling in this scandalous spring. No Drama Obama is immersed in drama so over the top it could have been scripted by Shonda Rhimes and Karl Rove. Just four months after his second inauguration, the president is buffeted by gushing investigations, smug and deranged Republicans, and cat-who-ate-the-canary conspiracists.

After 4 1/2 years behind bars, battling weight gain and depression, O.J. Simpson is hopeful freedom is just around the corner. In a series of exclusive jailhouse conversations, including a 30-minute video chat last week, an upbeat Juice told a Post source he was cautiously optimistic and ready to start a new life on the outside. In a move sure to infuriate the families of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, whom Simpson was acquitted of killing after a spectacular trial, that new life will include a planned college speaking tour to earn money.

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner, whose career in public life came to an abrupt end when he sent lewd pictures to a college student on Twitter, jumped back into politics on Wednesday by announcing a bid for mayor of New York City. “Look, I’ve made some big mistakes and I know I’ve let a lot of people down,” the Democrat said in a 2-minute video announcing his bid. “But I’ve also learned some tough lessons. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. She was determined to

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.
