David Petraeus Was
Brought Down by ... Gmail

While David Petraeus was still serving as a four-star general in the U.S. Army, he began exchanging emails with the woman who would eventually write his biography. After Petraeus retired from military service and accepted a new post -- director of the Central Intelligence Agency -- those email exchanges, it´s believed, turned into something else: an affair. The affair might have concluded as so many others do (Snip)were it not for the technology that helped to ignite it in the first place: email. The FBI began to suspect that Petraeus´s personal Gmail account had been hacked -- so it launched

What it is, is that the head of the CIA should probably never, ever send a gmail message to anyone about anything.

THAT is a firing offense.

What an idiot.

So Google knew that the head of the CIA was having an affair? Google? If this is true why do we even have a CIA? Google? This is very, very disturbing.

So did the Chicago Gang blackmail the Director of the CIA? Will Petraeus´s body be found under a cannon at Ft Marcy Park? Welcome to Obamaland.

The article said Google SERVERS knew about the affair. Servers don´t really know things they just retain information, forever. Who knows what else they know that is just out there waiting for some human to discover.

Something needs to be said about this guy. He was successful in Iraq thanks to the ideas of the William Lind. As a tawdry political hack is wont to do, im sure he never bothered to give proper attribution, so there you go.

Most relatively computer-aware people knew/know how easy it is to be tracked using Google for either searches or email.

email is not secure, meaning it is very easy for others to read it. Petraeus, being a CIA and military guy would have known this. I am not buying this. I think it was more a part of a made up story.

Anyone who believes this is about emails or an affair is a stooge.

As head of the CIA Obozo threw Petraeus under the bus for not supporting the Obozo lies on Benghazi= Obozo TREASON... the affair is just a misdirection ... Three 4 star generals relieved of command by Obozo over Benghazi in the last two months .... Crap is going to hit the fan of this Obozo TREASON ..

For comparison look at impeached and liar Klintoon who had affair in the oval office with giggle brain intern half his age that worked for him .. the Obozo/Dems just luv the Klintoon pervert...

If Petraeus is dumb enough to use Gmail, he´s pretty dumb. Gmail is monitored by the Google data collector. You would think the CIA director would know this. I don´t use Gmail, but am amazed at how many people do.

This is WH Cover Story BS.

Just like the Video was a Benghazi Cover Story.

Patton, Eisenhower and many others had affairs and continued to serve. No One cares and if it was a real concern it would have been handled quietly.

This is about the WH trying to fall back on their same false narrative, using Panetta and other Political appointees to lie for them. The CIA Operations Command, which involves Petraeus and more honorable ex Military is angry about this Benghazi thing and told the facts. Panetta is now caught in the lies that Valerie Jarrett and others have spun.

This is getting really atrocious.

Obama knew and just calculated the right time to expose this man.

With friends like Obama, who needs enemies?

Everyone is expedient for Obama and his administration.

One day, in God´s plan, Obama will be seen as the man he is.

Out of Obama´s mouth - Revenge replaces Hope!

All the past Presidents are shamed by Obama.

One day God will open the eyes of America to the man too many voted for. He does not know the God he claims to profess. He will meet Him though and sadly could hear - Depart from Me, for I never knew you.

No matter what we are going through, if we believe in Jesus, He promised to give US a peace that passes all understanding and one day we will be with Him forevermore.

What doth it profit a man if he gain the whole world and suffer the loss of his immortal soul!

Pray for Petraeus. I believe he was set up, but he did submit, forsaking all he valued and lost the honor due him.

Everyone is tempted by Satan. He knows our weaknesses, yet God, in His mercy, forgives and forgets when we repent/submit unto Him and allow Him to rule/reign in our hearts. I pray for this man and his family.

Sadly, the media enjoys destroying anyone they can. They forget there is also sowing and reaping and one day they may fall and there will be no one to care for them.

Ah Yes, this Petraes story is the shiny object. I agree with my fellow Ldotters. The question remains. Will the MSM continue to cover for the Chicago thugs by concentrating on the shiny object thrown out as a distraction ? Or will they follow the Benghazi story, even if it implicates the president?

Probably should´ve saved the above for the day hours of Saturday instead, but it´s too intriguing to pass up. The descriptor of the man involved alone should lead to only a few possible conclusions as to identity, and it is worded as to be quite memorable. I think he WAS writing it, for the NYT, of all papers to put certain someones or certain entities on notice.

I´ll repost it again in the later morning on another thread.

You´re not subject to blackmail if the affair becomes public.

I don´t buy this. Something else is happening here.

I agree with you #24. If you read the WSJ article that Megan Garber links to, you will see that Patraeus did not have a physical relationship with this woman. It makes me think back to Democrat reaction to Clinton´s Lewinsky affair (none of them worried about blackmail in that case, like they are so worried about in the Patraeus case). The entire business looks politically motivated since the WSJ article states that Patraeus was often at odds with CIA counterterrorism and he didn´t work to win over the CIA like his predecessors. Garber´s article does not explain what triggered the FBI to suspect hacking. Was it actually an internal CIA Security investigation, and if so, what triggered that?

Valerie Plame redux... Stinks of her namesake, Valerie J. Sampson lost his hair... Delilah delivered the blackmail tool to Obama. They made him lie to congress, then dumped him when they were not sure what he would say in the next congressional hearing.

About “Bush Appointee” Doug Shulman …

The left loves to remind everyone that the former IRS commissioner was a Bush appointee, because somehow this makes it OK that his IRS office abused power to criminally target conservatives. For a party that loves to blame Bush, they sure love signing off on everything Bush did and then maximizing it times eleventy. Shulman may have been a Bush appointee, but he was an Obama donor: Shulman donated $500 to the Democratic National Committee in 2004. So let’s start calling him “Democrat supporter” Doug Shulman. All this shows is that Bush wasn’t an ideological bigot.

Seven months we’ve been waiting for someone, anyone, to ask the White House staff what was President Obama doing on the night the Benghazi attacks took place. We have researched this on our own and have him tracked from 4pm to around 7:30pm (EST). But after 7:30pm it is a total BLACKOUT – an unknown void of information. Finally after seven MONTHS. Chris Wallace asks White House Communications Director, Dan Pfeiffer, what was President Obama doing. (Snip) they are hiding what actually took place that night. Treasury officials were made aware in June 2012 that the IRS inspector general was reviewing the office that handles tax-exempt applications, but a letter from October shows that the inspector general did not highlight the audit as a top concern for the agency. In a memo dated October 15, 2012, to then-Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner about IRS challenges for 2013, Inspector General J. Russell George noted other problem areas, but made no mention of the investigation taking place at the time of the agency´s intense scrutiny of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status.

It eventually comes down to who — who at the IRS was responsible for targeting conservative and Tea Party groups for special scrutiny. Because, after all, you can’t put a “system” in jail. You can’t put a report in prison. You can’t indict a department for corruption. At the end of the day it’s people who are responsible for using the enormous powers of the Internal Revenue Service to go after other people and groups because of their political beliefs. U.S. Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) told the tale of one of his constituents who applied for tax-exempt status for her Tea Party group in July 2010.

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed).
