| Each presidential cycle gets shrouded in the penultimate question, “Are you better off than you were four years ago?” In Oliver Stone’s new book — “The Untold History of the United States” — the filmmaker, along with historian Peter Kuznick, argues that, “The country Obama inherited was indeed in shambles, but Obama took a bad situation and, in certain ways, made it worse.” Much of Stone and Kuznick’s book focuses on the threats posed by government secrecy and militarism throughout history and, in an interview with Politico Friday, Stone said that things aren’t getting better.

This country was never in shambles. We have not fought hard enough against this myth.
Bush was not the cause of our economic problems but he did play a key role in solving them. Obama must not be allowed to blame Bush any longer.
We are in much worse shape today.

This is actually good. We need people like Oliver Stone to see clearly what's happening. If they voted for him, they should pay. Not class envy. Just consequences

Bush tried to moderate the problem, although he could have tried harder. It was primarily due to government coercion of banks to make formerly redlined loans, enabled by the Fed and Fan/Fred. And dumb investors who bought those toxic CMOs.

Oliver Stone finally comes around. Well, these morons will reap what they have sown; they fell in love with the scary man, 0bama. As far as everyone blaming Bush, history will right this misjudgment. The truth is, Barney Frank, Dodd, and 0bama's likes forced banks to loan to people with no money, no jobs and no way to pay the mortgage. Bush tried on several occasions to stop this stupidity. But the democrats kept peddling the stuff, and then the Lehman Brothers and Goldman Sachs packaged all this bad debt into bundles that they sold knowingly to unsuspecting buyers. So put the blame right square where it belongs, 0bama, first, then Barney Frank and the democrat lawmakers. This is a tragedy that will unfold for years, and yet, most of the morons cannot even see this coming. Scary !!!! Ollie, you should be terrified.

Oh, what a load of B.S. Last month he was pimping this piece of horse manure in a silk suit. And he still is. Read it. Two things. One, Stone thinks by ascribing ''scary'' to Obama, he builds on Obama's new image as the ''badass'' who killed Bin Laden, and who is morally and ethically superior enough to be capable of handling wisely any precedents he may put in action.
Thing 2 - the only ''scary'' thing Stone is even pretending to be worried about is the possibility that these powers could, through actions of 'unwise' voters sometime in the future fall into the hands of a president who is not nearly so strong and wise as Barack Obama. What a joke, non-story, and less than subtle hymn to Obama this ridiculous excuse for an interview is! Stone is just one more celebritrash Obama worshipper thinking himself far more clever than he is.

Did you read the article? Oliver Stone thinks Obama is scary because he sees Obama doing the same kinds of military strikes/policies as the really scary "Bush and Reagan" people.
All these headlines about various celebs who are "disappointed" or whatever with Obama is because he hasn't been LEFT enough. They will never, ever, EVER, vote for a Republican over a Democrat.

First thing Stone's said that I can recall agreeing with -- I find Obama scary, too.
But I still remember swearing Stone would never see another fraction of a cent from me after I saw 'JFK' in the theater. (Ugly and irresponsible were the two nicest things I could think of to say about it.)
So he could say today that he thinks Obama is evil, and even that wouldn't motivate me to give him the benefit of the doubt again.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General published a new report Monday that confirms former U.S. Attorney for Arizona Dennis Burke leaked a document intended to smear Operation Fast and Furious scandal whistleblower John Dodson. The DOJ IG said it found “Burke’s conduct in disclosing the Dodson memorandum to be inappropriate for a Department employee and wholly unbefitting a U.S. Attorney.”

Fox News reports that three Fox staffers, two reporters and one producer, were targeted by Barack Obama´s Justice Department. Fox doesn´t have all the details yet on a reporter William La Jeunesse and producer Mike Levine, but their emails showed up in a IG report regarding Fast and Furious. Either their emails were leaked by the Justice Department officials they were sent to, or the email accounts of both were subpoenaed and invaded by government investigators. The IG report does say that subpoenas were issued to obtain emails. Whose email was targeted is not yet known.

Of all the discouraging news in the scandal involving President Obama’s Internal Revenue Service, the most illuminating is that one of the things that triggered additional scrutiny from the IRS for groups applying for tax-exempt status was any plan for “educating on the constitution and bill of rights.” As the details of the situation have emerged, various explanations have arisen for the behavior of the IRS officials involved. A 2,700-word report issued over the weekend by a team of seven New York Times journalists attributed the problem to “an understaffed Cincinnati outpost that was alienated from the broader I.R.S. culture.”

We already have seen that the Obama administration doesn’t think much of the freedom of religion clause when it interferes with the HHS regulations. We’ve been shamed into giving up the 2nd Amendment, for the children. We’ve seen the freedom of the press isn’t really freedom anymore if the Justice Department doesn’t like what you’re writing about. But with the testimony Friday of Steven Miller to the House Ways And Means Committee, we see now that what you pray about is a legitimate tax question. And on the Hugh Hewitt

Where there’s controversy, there’s bound to be a petition calling for someone’s firing. This time, it seems a liberal user of the Change.org petition-building site has begun the calls for ABC News to fire Jonathan Karl after the journalist’s report contained inaccurate quotes of leaked White House emails. He initially suggested he had “obtained” the emails from a source but, as it turns out, the quotes came from the source’s own paraphrasing of the material. This was all part of a report Karl filed on the multiple edits to post-Benghazi talking points within the Obama administration.

Sean Higgins notices a quote from a Washington Post article about the IRS office in Cincinnati: “We’re not political,’’ said one determinations staffer in khakis as he left work late Tuesday afternoon. “We people on the local level are doing what we are supposed to do. .?.?. That’s why there are so many people here who are flustered. Everything comes from the top. We don’t have any authority to make those decisions without someone signing off on them. There has to be a directive.”

Imagine if secret tapes surfaced of conversations within his Administration in which President Obama told them: -that conservative non-profits working in the political arena were illegitimate, because the Supreme Court ruling "reversed a century of law to open the floodgates for special interests." -spoke of Tea Party supporters using an obscene term referring to a homosexual act, as ´tea baggers.´

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: You are the mantle of Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington and Ralph Bunche and Langston Hughes and George Washington Carver and Ralph Abernathy and Thurgood Marshall and, yes, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. These men were many things to many people and they knew full well the role that racism played in their life. It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Ironically, the attack was reminiscent of the one in Benghazi he has repeatedly denied the Administration he represents bears any responsibility for. “Changed twelve times?!” came the cries. And with good reason. We were misled; no, lied to.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

Washington – Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-MO, issued a video statement Friday in response to reports that the Internal Revenue Service unfairly targeted conservative nonprofit groups. (Snip) “There’s a reason Lady Justice wears a blindfold in America. That is because in America, we don’t apply the law based on who you are, who you know, or what you believe. We apply the law equally.” “We should not only fire the head of the IRS, which has occurred, but we’ve got to go down the line and find every single person who had anything to do with this and make sure
