| WASHINGTON — Democrats appear poised to retain control of the Senate, but this year’s forecasts are full of more uncertainty than usual. A host of unknowns could affect the 10 or so races too close to call: Turnout. Ground game. Last-minute ads. Presidential coattails. Weather. Democrats now control 53 of the Senate’s 100 seats. Twenty-three of those Democratic seats are up for re-election, compared with just 10 in Republican hands. Republicans need a net gain of four seats for their first majority in six years, three if Mitt Romney wins, allowing a Vice President Paul Ryan to cast tie-breaking votes.

They examine each tree without ever noticing that they're in a forest.

Pete Hoekstra is running against Debbie Stabenow in Michigan, his campaign has been lack luster at best. I don't get it. I was really hoping to get her out of office, Michigan doesn't need 2 liberals Senators. Now we are going to have to endure her for many more years. It's disappointing.

I live in SW Virginia and I feel the same way about George Allen's campaign as #2 feels about the campaign in their state. I have seen few commercials for Allen in my area. The ones I have seen, that were paid for by the Allen campaign, are pretty pathetic. If I was a voter sitting on the fence they wouldn't move me in the least.
I have seriously been wondering if Allen wants to be Senator or if he is just going through the motions like McCain did in 2008.

We had the Mourdock kerfuffle here in Indiana so I'm not as confident as I was once about him winning his senate election. His opponent, whose name must not be spoken, does run ads asking "Do you want a Tea Party zealot in office" to which I always respond He!! Yeah.

Here in Missouri Claire McCaskill is not the shoo-in the liberal media are reporting. In her ads she appears to be just a simple working girl, while her husband is worth hundreds of millions. That deceit along with her being the deciding vote that passed Obamacare, has a huge number of Missourians saying they have had ENOUGH.

#6, I'm in VA too and feel the same about George Allen. I have no idea why the R party wanted to run with Allen again. He's a retread that was part of the problem in the republican party. A big government spender and more of the same.

Here in OH we have 1 term incumbent Sherrod "the most liberal senator" Brown vs. OH Treasurer Josh Mandel. Mandel is young (34), a former Marine and has the reputation of running for a new office as soon as he's elected. He was treasurer for about 3 months before announcing running for the senate.
Josh has been doing pretty well, and I think Mitt Romney's coattails could help deliver the senate. If we don't get it, we're stuck with Obamacare. Tell your wavering friends that, please!

Much has been written and said about the astoundingly tone deaf performance of White House spokesman Jay Carney during this past month of scandals. The former journalist has lost the confidence of the people who were once his colleagues due to his unwillingness to tell the truth about his own deceptive statements (never mind those he represents in front of the press) about the Benghazi talking points or even to acknowledge that he has changed his story. The 2012 election season was filled with angry cries of “voter suppression,” almost all of them regarding attempts by states to require voter ID and otherwise improve ballot integrity. Bill Clinton warned that “there has never been — in my lifetime, since we got rid of the poll tax and all the other Jim Crow burdens on voting — the determined effort to limit the franchise that we see today.” Democratic-party chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz said “photo-ID laws, we think, are very similar to a poll tax.” All of this proved to be twaddle.

One of two men allegedly being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings was shot and killed by an FBI agent in Florida on Tuesday, (Snip)A friend of Ibragim Todashev said he and Todashev were being investigated as part of the Boston bombings. He said Todashev, 27, knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters. The man claims he and Todashev were interviewed by the FBI for nearly three hours on Tuesday. The friend said he left the interview, and when he came back to the apartment he found that there had been a shooting.

The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.
