The United Nations Special Rapporteur on Counter-Terrorism and Human Rights has warned Americans not to elect Republican Mitt Romney in next month’s presidential election, saying that doing so would be “a democratic mandate for torture.” The UN’s Ben Emmerson was referring to Romney’s refusal to rule out the use of waterboarding in interrogating terror detainees, a practice that President Barack Obama has ended. Colin Perkel of The Canadian Press reported Emmerson’s remarks from a symposium in Toronto on the impact of 9/11 on human rights: "The re-introduction of torture under a Romney administration would significantly increase

Romney wants to torture terrorists. Obama is the terrorist who wants to torture all of America.

If I was undecided this would have sealed the deal as a vote for Romney.

Don't you agree?

nothing like the world telling US what to do "NOT!"
It's time the UN was cleared for a parking lot. everyone there should be given a days notice to clear out and go home. (even a day is way too long)

#2, the headline of the article alone would have sealed the deal for me.

But the article itself is eminently worth a read.

Funny, I musta missed that UN memo to the islamonizis not to mutilate, rape, torture, butcher, kill and drag their victims thru the streets of the Middle East in their sick, twisted ethos of a gruesome display of absolute terror!

Another endorsement for Obama.
Like those from Hugo Chavez, Putin and the Nobel Committee.

The UN is so corrupt. It's fallen down and can't get up. ...So, why are hard working American citizen's tax dollars still being used to fund this now apparently statist-dominated tool? ...What wasted potential!

Defund the outrageously off-track UN.

Well crap. I wish they had warned me earlier. I jumped the gun with this early voting scheme and already voted for Romney. That's what I get for thinking I know better than the UN.

Our State Department will do nothing.

Time to look seriously at the cost-benefit of UN membership. We have been involved in the "redistribution" of our wealth to fund this anti-freedom, anti-American mob for far too many decades.

Maybe the liberals can donate toward building a new UN facility in Havana. Cuba could use the economic stimulus.

So now the UN is attempting to intefere in our national elections. The knuckle dragging monkeys at the UN need to clean up their own backyards of brutal terrorists before they shake their bony fingers at America. I do not know who is cheekier, the Obama administration or the cheeky monkeys at the UN.

WHEN WILL WE LEAVE THE USA? I'm sure they will be happier in the Horn of Africa so that they can be in the midst of terrorists and dictators.

If there were an organized opposition to comprehensive immigration reform -- and there really isn´t, compared to the political/business/activist/lobbying complex in favor of it -- the opposition would pound daily on the key weakness at the heart of the Senate Gang of Eight bill. That weakness is simple. The bill proposes to legalize 11 million currently illegal immigrants before imposing greater border security and workplace enforcement. In that, the gang´s priorities are different from the American people´s. An opposition would remind the public of that, often. Many polls have shown that voters favor eventual legalization and a pathway to citizenship

President Obama called today for a renewed effort to close the prison at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. But back in 2009, the White House dropped the ball on closing the controversial military prison by failing to come up with a plan in time, refusing to help House Democrats who were fighting for its closure, and then abandoning the plan altogether and blaming Republicans. In a speech at the National Defense University in Washington, Obama said his Jan. 21, 2009, executive order to close the prison was never implemented because House Republicans placed funding and legislative restrictions on moving

American tourists dining on a glacier in eastern Iceland found themselves floating away from shore on an iceberg earlier this week, an Icelandic newspaper reported. Four people were rescued from Fjallsárlón glacial lagoon. They had set up a table and chairs with plans for dinner when a gust of wind pushed the ice from the land. They were stranded about 30 feet from shore. One of the diners managed to jump to shore before the ice drifted too far and call for help. The tourists have not been identified, but a photo captured three of the diners

Walter Russell Mead outlines two possible futures for middle-class Americans: one where most of us lose “the race against the machine,”the other where smart government policies enable an eventual successful transition to an economy where IT and robots do a shockingly large percentage of the jobs humans do today — but the carbon-based life forms still have plenty of meaningful work to do. Mead calls that first scenario, “Bladerunner with food stamps.” Mead: It’s likely that an information age welfare state would consist of two components: straight out welfare and “social inclusion” payments for some,

Of all the excuses, explanations and alibis pouring forth in the saga of the IRS kneecapping of conservative groups during the victorious Obama 2012 campaign, the one that deserves attention is this from David Axelrod: "Part of being president is that there´s so much beneath you that you can´t know, because the government is so vast." This makes the federal government sound like the endless void in "Star Trek"—a place "where no man has gone before." Under Mr. Axelrod´s Spock-like logic, the federal government has become a Milky Way of incomprehensibility, and so it follows that the IRS scandal could have originated

(Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election.
