| On his show Tuesday night, Bill O’Reilly took to his Talking Points segment to join in on criticism of the Associated Press’ recent photo of Mitt Romney (which made for jokes aplenty). Taking aim at the media in general, O’Reilly further chastised the AP and others for focusing on the outrage du jour instead of the battle between “capitalism and quasi-socialism.” (Snip) O’Reilly called the photo a “foolish shot” that makes Romney “the butt of stupid jokes. Pardon the pun.” It’s “a cheap shot,” he said. And clearly not the picture of objectivity.

I know O'Reilly can be terribly annoying, but he really ripped on AP. Good for him. He continued to do so in the segment with Colmes and Crowley.

WHY are the cameraman, reporter and editor not being asked why they have embarrassed this little girl on the national scene? Why would a news organization think they could get away with this? I hope the family sues.

O'Reilly went on to defend Obama's debate performance because he was clearly 'distracted'. This photo is beneath contempt and O'Reilly made a big deal out of it because he loves to hear himself talk and, oh yeah, he likes to look out for 'the folks'. I don't need this pompous ass looking out for me.

One good thing about O'Reilly: exposure. How many people would have known of this outrageous attempt at propaganda by AP? They do it all the time. And most, ahem, "folks" just see it in their local papers every day.

From time to time--including this occasion--it would be interesting to put three top national editors in a room and give them a story, or, in this case a picture. The editors would not be told who uttered the alleged gaffe, or, in this case, whose posterior the little girl is ostensibly looking at--only that there is a 50% chance it could be either candidate. Then the editors could decide whether they would run the story or print the photo. Having majored in journalism, I am confident the editors would make an objective and fair decision. In this case, not knowing which candidate was the "butt of the joke," they would unanimously determine that the picture was in poor taste and unfair and would, uh, can it, so to speak. In other words, they know--as all journalists know--what is biased, what is fair, what is objective, what is tasteless. But today's editors and reporters do not care, and will argue contrary to their own training and logic, if the, uh, end justifies the means.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.
