| Israeli security officials are reportedly examining the possibility that a drone shot down deep in Israeli territory on Saturday may have been despatched in a Hezbollah-Iranian operation and may have been sent to surveil the Dimona nuclear site. The army was still examining the remains of the downed unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) Saturday night and had released no official information about its investigation. But Israeli media reports suggest officials fear the drone may have been part of a larger operation to spy on strategic sites inside the country.

Comments:
All this talk and speculation about when Israel will strike at Iran to prevent the Islamonazis from fielding nuclear weapons ignores another real possibility. What if Iran strikes at Israel first, without nuclear capability, using its long-range missiles and all the surrogates surrounding Israel it has armed?

I doubt it, OP.
Israel is unlikely to be caught off guard and has arguably some of the best anti-air and anti-missile defense capability in the world. More importantly though, an Iranian first strike would politically paint them as the aggressor, and Israel would be justified with any level of retaliation they chose; Iran's whole strategy right now is to play the useful idiots at the UN for fools and keep up the false appearances of them being only interested in peaceful nuclear pursuits, while simultaneously claiming the 'zionists' are warmongers.
They basically want Israel or the US to strike first, so they can then act aggressively afterwards and yet still try to claim political high ground as innocent victims. It's a win-win for them... if we stop them, they play victim -- if we don't, they get nukes. We need to stop them regardless.

I wonder if the drone bears any resemblance to the one we lost in Iran last year? They could probably copy the mechanics of the drone itself but the satellite guidance infrastructure is something they could not produce. Russia is behind in drone technology by several decades but that's still another possibility. My guess, like the article mentions, is that it was a U.S. vehicle, either accidentally or deliberately sent into Israeli airspace. Given obama's insane tendency to stir up trouble in the region, I would not put such an action past him. If the Israelis claim that they could not identify the drone, then it was ours.

They haven't told us what the drone was, it may have been a simple Cessna 150 or the like converted to "drone".

We at Townhall have been covering this hotly contested Senate race for months and the results are finally in: With 36 percent of precincts reporting, Elizabeth Warren has been declared the next junior Senator from Massachusetts. Warren has never held public office before and the eye-popping $40 million she raised this election cycle evidently proved more than enough to unseat incumbent Senator Scott Brown. This was the most expensive Senate race of 2012 -- by a long shot.

The Obama and Romney campaigns may be gearing up for a very late night, with one Obama campaign adviser predicting that in Florida alone, "they'll be counting until 2 a.m." The Obama adviser said signs suggest the race is quite tight, though the campaign claimed to be "holding strong" in key battlegrounds like Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The adviser also said turnout among black voters in Virginia was better than expected, suggesting that could be a problem for Mitt Romney. A week after Hurricane Sandy slammed into the East Coast, a majority of voters said President Barack Obama’s response to the crisis wasn’t a factor in their vote, according to early exit polls. Fifty-five percent of those surveyed, per CBS News’ early exit polling released by radio station WKZO in Kalamazoo, Mich., said Obama’s handling of the storm was a minor factor in their vote or wasn’t a factor at all. Twenty-six percent named Sandy as an “important” factor, and 15 percent said it was the “most important” factor in their decision.

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued.
